The Liberty Tavern
We made a reservation later than I meant to but we were able to JUST squeeze into the main dining room (not bar) since my daughter has a leg injury. The staff was very accommodating and only asked that we wait a little longer. The food was incredible!!
Good Thanksgiving buffet. We are going to go back to try the regular menu.
Excellent service for Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving buffet was great. Food was wonderful, great selection. Our server was great and finished plates removed promptly.
The food was delicious and there was a wonderful variety of it. The buffet table was constantly being refreshed -- we never saw an item run low. It was impressive.
One of our favorite places for a nice dinner out.
The food was good, but for the amount of money we spent I would expect it to come with a salad or side. Other tables received table bread and we did not although we had the plates for it. The table next to us was also visited by the manager and received a dessert because it was their first time, but that may have had more to do with two women vs our group of five.
Great Vermont pizza...delicious!
Had a surprise engagement dinner at Liberty Tavern for 7. Meal was great. Staff was incredible and very understanding of the occasion. Favorite restaurant in Arlington. Great place all around. Meatballs are my favorite dish!
Great buffet and excellent service.
We were a party of 8 and just about everyone had something different from the menu. Every person love what they got and the service was excellent. Thanks!
Excellent meal and service!!! Love Liberty Tavern.
This was our second visit--we had reservations for 630 on Saturday night, and it was a great time. We met another couple there and sat upstairs. The restaurant was packed. Seating is open and close, so it is loud, but we were able to have a great conversation without any issues. The seasonal menu had changed, so while the entrees were the same, the sides were more fall-oriented...fall vegetables, soups, etc. Service was fantastic, as were the food and drinks. Awesome place, and now one of our "go-to" places either as a couple or to bring people to. A little pricey, but for the food, service, and ambience here in the metro DC area, it is on-par. Definitely will go again.
Great menu choices, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff...the pizza I ordered was excellent. Only downer was we had to ask for dinner rolls which took a long time to get to the table (we were told they had to make some).
We met friends there with two children on a busy Saturday night. We were appreciative that they sat us in a really nice booth with a few chairs at the end which was perfect for fidgety kids. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very lively. We will definitely go again when we are in town!
As always, Liberty Tavern doesn’t disappoint. I’ve been here many times and I’ve always enjoyed my meal. I went for brunch on a Saturday morning, which is one of my go to brunch places. I love the assortment of foods that are available. However, my favorite thing for brunch is the chocolate mousse. I had moved to Boston for a few years and am back and forgot how much I missed the mousse. From the first bite I was back in heaven.
Fun evening
We had 2 kids at our table and they didn’t offer a kids menu. I didn’t realize they had a kids menu until I went to the restroom near the end of the meal and saw the table next to us had kids menu. The kids in our party and their party were comparable. Why wouldn’t the waiter say something and why would the hostess not give the correct menus?
A great restaurant offering lots of options for lots of different eaters. We come here often because it never disappoints. Pizzas are excellent!
Went for brunch with my friends and this was a nice place to gather. The food was great (buffet is a good deal), and the service was good as well. We had a nice time and would definitely recommend for brunch.
It had been a while -- probably about a year -- since our last visit to The Liberty Tavern. Generally a favorite, this The Liberty Tavern experience was just okay. Perhaps Halloween and the threat of severe weather kept diners away; consequently, the upstairs dining room was eerily quiet. Adding to an already dull atmosphere, the dining room was dim. It appeared that only one server was working the dining room. We waited 20 minutes for him to come to the table to take our drink order, and then another 10 minutes for him to take our dinner order. It turned out to be one of those needlessly long evenings. The food: my dining partner and I had Tavern salads; they were the highlight of our meal. One salad is shareable by two. The dressing is light and tasty. My dining partner had the half order of rigatoni and meatball. Yes, that's a singular meatball, and not of the "that's a huge meatball" variety. I had the Tavern burger, which I had remembered as being one of the better burgers around. Not this night. While the burger came out a perfect medium, as ordered, it was a flavorless -- almost watery -- mash of meat. Rethink the grind blend. We'll go back, though it might purposely be another year between visits.
Excellent service and food. Filet mignon perfect! Kale salad was amazing.
A pleasant surprise
Great lunch. Service was excellent
Food variety at brunch was good. Loved the tomato soup, bacon, sausage and french toast, eggs and potatoes. Sausage gravy was good but biscuits were dry. The guys in the group loved the carving table. Fried chicken was tasty but a little dry, and guys wanted more salad variety. Over all, everyone found foods they liked! And the service was excellent. My son wanted some fried eggs, which weren't on the buffet or the menu. Our waiter had the kitchen make them especially for him!
My Mom and I went on a Saturday night. We were checked in very fast from the Host and led to our table. We were immediately greeted by our waitress. She understands wine very well and made great suggestions for pairing of our meal. All dishes that we had were delicious. Nothing to complain at all. Every time we go to the LT we always have a great time!
Creative and ample brunch buffet (mussels this time!) featuring house made items (sausage, smoked salmon...) and very good fried chicken. If you dread brunch because it evokes memories of dull hotel restaurant breakfasts, Liberty Tavern will change your mind.
First time visit to this restaurant and I would return again. It was a relatively quiet evening, not too busy in the upstairs area, yet in the beginning I felt we were rushed along. We only had the first course for about 5 minutes when the entrees showed up. That seemed too fast and I made a comment about it, but the server and the waiter were not the same people so you can't really fault the server for brining the food when it's ready to go; no, this was clearly the waiter not pacing the meal correctly. Suddenly the fire alarm started ringing. False alarm thankfully, but no one on the staff seemed even remotely concerned about it. I asked the waiter if everything was okay and he said yes, false alarm. Okay, on to the food. Everything was prepared well and had good flavor. I had the salad and my friend had the soup. Both were good. For entrees I had the hanger steak (excellent!) and my friend had a pasta dish, which she reported was good. No dessert, but I enjoyed the LT Margarita while my friend had wine. All in all the restaurant was busy on the ground floor for happy hour, but otherwise it was not too loud. I could see where it could be louder if the restaurant was really jumping. In the end the waiter let us linger as long as we wanted.
I haven’t been here for a few years and the menu has changed from American fare to Italian. I think it should be renamed if this menu change is permanent. I had pasta and it was not very good and was not a good value. I’m sorry to see this since you can actually hear yourself speak here.
Great wait staff and service. Salad was a bit limp / saturated with too much dressing.
The Liberty Tavern is a very friendly family restaurant. There were people/families/friends celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, etc....My friends and I were celebrating my birthday we went for Sunday Brunch. There was a variety of food to choose from on the brunch buffet something for everyone. Note: Make a reservation so you won't have to wait. The Tavern is two levels and they pack the patrons in every nook get friendly with your neighbor. Overall we had a great time in will go again.
Go very hungry. The brunch buffet will not disappoint! Big selection of great food, try to pace yourself.
Nice dining room upstairs with soft lighting and a nice selection of entrees and drinks from the menu.
Love this place! It never disappoints; the food, drink and staff were just amazing. Thank you LT!
Chose The Liberty Tavern for a Friday night dinner date. We sat outside and had perfect weather. Great food, friendly waiter, super convenient location. Can’t wait to try their brunch one day!
Excellent Brunch! Perfect for family and friends gathering.
Our first time there. We'll go back for sure. Great service and food. We had the Sunday brunch buffet. Great value and selection
Delicious Sunday brunch buffet has all the standard fare plus delightful twists like breakfast pizza and mussels. Save room for dessert!
I had been there the number of times. So, I took my boyfriend there for the first time. He loved the meal. Workers are friendly and the restroom is cleaned. We will be back there AGAIN!
Absolutely delicious Sunday brunch. The quality and amount of food they offer on the buffet is a great value, especially for the area.
