The Liberty Tavern
What Insiders Are Saying
Liberty Tavern is Clarendon’s utility restaurant - use the American spot for dates, dinner with the parents, or a meal at the bar.
We dined here for restaurant week. I love that you can choose from the whole menu. The grilled octopus, Amish chicken, and cherry pie were all superb.
It was good. I enjoyed my food. The ice cream is delicious
Went for Sunday brunch, was decent. Not worth a trip but ok if you are in the area.
It was too hot and crowded! I recognize that you need to make money, but once you say a large Larry next Tom I was unable to get out of my seat to return to the buffet. Also i was under the impression that Liberty Tavern was participating in Restaurant Week for brunch. It should be made clear that you are not participating for brunch. I strongly suggest that you look into your air conditioning unit for upstairs. All in all, it was not a good experience.
I truly LOVED this place!!!! The food was amazing and the service was even better. I can tell it was family-owned by the flavor of the food lol!:) I loved the fact that they have a live dj on the weekends!!!!!!! I will totally be coming back and bringing my friends and family!....
We sat outside and, thus, the noise level was low. But inside it was high.
I was disappointed by the quality of the food. Left something to be desired for sure.
I normally love Liberty Tavern but it was so crowded for Restaurant Week, it removed some of the enjoyment. Very noisy with tables close together. Our server was wonderful but stretched in too many directions. We were relieved to walk out.
Terrific upscale casual dining.
Normally a good meal but today the chef overdid the vinegar and pepper I left most of it over
Went for Restaurant Week. Wonderful choices. My companion and I enjoyed everything (tavern salad, lamb burger, and white pizza). The desserts were not your typical desserts (ice box brownies with ice cream and panda cotta). Excellent! Our server was outstanding
Good location for a Sunday Brunch. Buffet was well stocked for the one all-you-can-eat fan in our party.
The Tavern was perfect for our purposes -- a mini-family reunion that included an infant and a toddler. Staff were VERY accommodating and patient, seated us in a relatively secluded space so that our nursing mother could do her thing, and the food was enjoyed by all!
Fun place to go with my daughter and her friends. Wine selection was a good, all our food was on point.
We had a great time with the outdoor seating! The food was really tasty and the service was great!
Great place to go. Food is great - especially brussel sprouts - and price is great! Good beer selection.
Upstairs portion of restaurant was hot.
Great service, good food and great company. The noise level was high but it was a Friday night and it’s Clarendon so the noise is expected in the bar area. Liberty Tavern is a great place to go for occasion. The food is fresh and delicious.
The messed up my wife’s order. The Service was great.
Upstairs was like 80 degrees during brunch. Our entire table was sweating through brunch. It was a really hot day outside in general and the AC units couldn't keep up with the heat from the kitchen and outside. Food was good. Server was hard to get a hold of for drinks and the check.
Loved the food (brunch) and the service. One negative: it was REALLY hot upstairs...we were sweating up a storm!
Met an old friend for brunch, we used to come here when we were younger to the bar. Brunch was yummy and pricing was right, it was a little warm/loud upstairs with all the people and buffet but not uncomfortable.
The food was amazing, and so was our server, Olivia. She took the time to make sure we understood our options and was extremely helpful with just the right amount of attentiveness.
The salmon dish was excellent and far exceeded my expectations.
Delicious food! Good service. A bit noisy, and with this current heat wave, a bit warm. Overall very good.
Great food, great drinks, great service! A beautiful place to celebrate a special occasion or just have a lovely meal.
Happy to come back to Liberty Tavern; it's been a while since we've dined there. We were looking for a nice easy meal on a Sunday night to entertain a guest who had just flown in from the West coast. There were a couple very large groups, but the host was kind enough to move us as far away as possible from them. Food was as good as I remember it and the service was great. Thanks!
The noise level wasn’t too bad. Now to the food. The food was delicious. They had carved meats and some sort of Mac and cheese. The potatoes were very good and the French toast wasn’t that bad. I love the liberty tavern brunch buffet.
Fun place to go for brunch with friends. Server was great! It’s just a little crowded in the dining area with the tables so close together.
It was pouring rain when we were dining there and, at our first table, we were dripped on so had to change tables. Also, A/C wasn’t working well at original table, but we chalked it up to it being a 150 year old Historic Landmark building. Our server Henry was excellent. A big shoutout to him! He especially is knowledgeable about wine pairings. I picked the wrong dishes to order I guess. The grilled octopus appetizer was dry and tough though nice flavor. Then, I ordered the hanger steak rare and it was well done but I didn’t feel like wasting food and sending it back. Plus, the polenta it came with was good. I should have ordered the Mafalde pasta that my friend did. It was excellent! The brownie dessert was pretty good. Thanks so much Henry!! 👍😀
Great - we’re poor so we can’t afford this great food all the time, but good for a special treat. Pizza was excellent
Pork Chop special was exceedingly good! Server was very friendly and attentive.
Delicious brunch buffet. Enjoy coming with friends and family.
Get the crispy Brussel sprouts. The salmon or the lamb burgers!
Brunch was excellent! Good variety.
We visit Liberty Tavern often for wine and calamari and normally have an exceptional experience. This time, it took 5-10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table to take our drink order. We ordered calamari and there were only 7 pieces. Definitely not worth $8. Will give it another try but if this is the quality and quantity of Liberty Tavern, we might find another local bar/restaurant for visit.
Good variety of brunch foods and great music! We sat in the bar but good outdoor seating as well.
At $23.95 for an all you can eat buffet I think Liberty Tavern is way better than many that charge $30 and up.
The food choices and quality is way better than anywhere else I’ve eaten.
I would highly recommend this place to my friends.
From the moment I walked in I was treated like royalty. The food was excellent and abundant.
What an amazing lunch after attending our son's graduation. The food was yummy and not too expensive. Our waiter was the best. Great service. Can't wait to go back
