The Liberty Tavern
What Insiders Are Saying
Liberty Tavern is Clarendon’s utility restaurant - use the American spot for dates, dinner with the parents, or a meal at the bar.
The staff went above and beyond to make this occasion memorable. Grateful to their wonderful service. Also - try the fried chicken and the Mac and cheese. Stupid good.
My friends from out of town and I return to the Liberty Tavern for lunch every year because we enjoy the food, the friendly and efficient service, and an atmosphere where we can easily share stories of our latest adventures. This time we had the wonderful Brussels sprouts followed by clam soup and the smoked turkey sandwich. All were ample and excellent. Our selected IPAs went well with everything. We were full by desert, so we just had coffee. No question, we will be back next year.
Our food was great with the exception of my daughter’s order. Our waiter warned us that it wasn’t his favorite but she decided to order it anyway. As it turned out the waiter was right, it wasn’t very good. We chalked it up to a learning experience but the general manager came out and gave her a free order of her second choice and gave us a free dessert!!! They went above and beyond and I will be a customer for life!
Need to change variety in food . The meat was too dry otherwise everything is good
Overall we enjoyed the Liberty Tavern. It's a little bit too noisy at times. The hangar steak was too well done and too chewy. The other dishes we got were fine. And they brought us some extra appetizers for free, so that was nice.
Had a great lunch! Will be even better once the city finishes construction on their sidewalk. Will certainly be back. Ann our server was very hospitable, courteous and professional! Food was delicious.
We have a 5 month old and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We all had the breakfast table and it was delicious. We are definitely going back.
Overpriced buffet for brunch. Ordered a la carte. Two of us ordered French Toast. Both came out cold. Second time slightly warmer. Unsatisfying dish. Batter barely penetrated the surface so interior was tasteless. Apple topping was good. Other diners enjoyed their omelette and pancakes. Good service and good volume level.
On the first floor, there was a foul smell near the elevators. My husband commented that it was probably musky beer. We were very hungry and decided to enjoy our dinner despite the fact that everything, starting with the bread, was very salty. Add to that, a waiter with absolutely no interest in taking care of us - once we decided not to have wine and he had to remove the wine glasses from the table. We tried to shrug it off thinking that he was just tired... but then saw him downstairs extremely happy with another table. Will not be back, nor do we recommend this place.
We wanted to sit outside and enjoy the weather, took our pup with us. The service was friendly, prompt, check up on us often. We had the calamari, white pizza and a negroni. It was a great way to end the weekend.
Good beer, good salad. Outdoor seating on a sunny day was great. Could have used patio umbrellas though. Would definitely go back
Food was good but service was lacking. It took about 20 minutes to get my first refill and I never got the condiments I asked for twice.
It was a brunch buffet, but we had one guest order a la carte. It took a very long time to get his order. The peach Bellini, which is redundant, did not taste anything like peach. If you want lots of food, this is a great deal. I wouldn't go again.
Had the brunch buffet. Everything was good not great
good food and wine and we were able to eat dinner outside on a beautiful spring evening.
Amazing brunch experience. Can’t beat the price and the $5 mimosa were worth it. We will definitely come back.
Great service. Delicious food. Welcoming environment.
The food was pretty good, but not outstanding. The buffet area is very tight and if it is crowded, it is difficult to enter the area because it is a compact area without a line to join. That being said, there is a good variety of dishes, including a carving station. The beef at the carving station was quite good, but they only give you one small slice at a time. Be sure to ask for a second slice because, like I said, it can be tricky entering the buffet area. My husband said the mussels were good, and I enjoyed the tomato soup. The French toast has a good vanilla flavor and the syrup was nice and warm. We all had Bloody Marys and they came with a large shot of beer. If we happen to be in the area again, we would consider going back.
We had te best brunch. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves. We will be back. The food was so amazing.
Excellent service & food.
Had a great buffet brunch on St. Patricks Day. The vibe was fun and despite the crowds for this special day, we were able to enjoy ourselves without having to yell at each. And most importantly, the food was spectacular.
Brunch was delicious! Unfortunately, the music was way too loud so we had trouble holding a conversation with our friends.
Best brunch in Clarendon.
We loved it! Great value, good options.
I would recommend only if looking for a place very close to the Clarendon subway stop. It is a pleasant setting and our server did an excellent job. The menu choices and the quality of the food were unremarkable and not a particularly good value.
The all you can eat brunch is amazing, and it's only $24.00
As always, the food and service were great at Liberty Tavern. It is one of the few places the whole family likes. The restaurant is lively and loud on the weekends–so don't go there on a Saturday night expecting a romantic quiet dinner conversation.
I had high hopes for this place due to word-of-mouth recommendations. I was firmly disappointed. Service was quite poor, the buffet food was bland and lacked selection, and the place was so SOOOO loud with a bunch of intoxicated white girls screaming about their personal lives; god forbid you trying to have a decent conversation with family.. I will never go back to this place...I don't even know why I'm giving it 2 out of 5 stars. It surely deserved a 1 star based on our experience. Incredibly underwhelming.
Very solid brunch with good service. Not a huge brunch person but would definitely put high on list in Clarendon area.
The food is very good at The Liberty Tavern and there is alot of active and energy so it's fun place to be.
The food was really good and for only $24 you get a buffet with lots of brunch staples. My complaint is that I had a reservation for 12:30 and wasn’t seated until 12:55... what’s the point in making a reservation if you still have to wait 25 minutes?
The food was consistently good, as we compared it to our last visit. The noise level was lower, but the food more than compensates for it. Keep up the great work. This just may become our weekly spot.
We had a nice dinner but the quality of the food was not up to what it once was. My lovely roasted potatoes became soggy since they were sitting under the sauced fish. Bread basket rolls still delish. Service was very good. Won't be hurrying back.
This is a fun spot with great drinks and really really good food. Our server Keith was amazing. Everything was perfect and will defiantly go again. Can’t beat a $5 Aperol Spritz! Or two!
Dinner with friends
Best Brunch in Arlington!
Great brunch and EXCELLENT service from a young woman upstairs.
Great Buffet for Sunday brunch! Everything was well prepared and very tasty. Don't think Ive seen deviled eggs on a buffet very often, but these were incredible. Creamy grits, crispy bacon, fried chicken--WOW.
Great place to eat - we were visiting daughter in Arlington. Downstairs looked inviting but louder - nice bar. Upstairs was nice buffet for Saturday Brunch. A bit expensive and we didn't seem to find a lot of food we liked on the buffet, but the waiter (Austin) was great and offered us a take home box for some desserts. We were probably looking for a little more healthy options.
Also two families with young children were next to us - great place for kids - they were welcomed and had high chairs at the ready.
Ryan was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations thanks for the wonderful evening
