The Liberty NYC Ratings and Reviews
My review only can be referred to the reservation. When we arrived to the restaurant with delay of 30 mnts it was closed with a note at the door saying there was a private party inside. We checked the email from Opentable and there was no mistake. To whom I put the unique (poor) star, to the restaurant or to Opentable?
My sisters and I are Clemson FANS. We went to The Liberty because we heard that the NYC Alumni watch games there. It was just like being at a home game. We had so much fun. The staff at the Liberty couldn’t have been nicer. From the reception desk to the wait staff all were excellent and so accommodating. We had the nacho appetizer. YUM!
Best experience yet!!!! Loved it. Thank you.
I had made a reservation for 6 and arrived early. The hostess first tried to seat me on the high top behind the hostess station. My reservation was for 6 for dinner, so please note that you should specify you want a table in the back room. She did (reluctantly) accommodate my request to move. The service was excruciatingly slow and it is extremely loud so not really conducive to having a conversation. The food was fairly average. It is a pretty room and the bar is lively so I would recommend if that is what you were looking for.
This place is good to get a drink after work but that's all. Food was just ok and service was less than impressive. Apparently ordering "Starters" means bring it out with dinner. When asking the waitress about the appetizer we ordered her response was "oh I didn't realize you wanted that now".
Was recently here for the first time and really enjoyed it.
My wife had the soup of the day and the cranberry and goat cheese salad and thoroughly enjoyed both. I had the Atlantic salmon and it was excellent, well seasoned and fresh.
Good dessert selection. The peanut butter brownie stack was fantastic. Much lighter than it sounds. The beer selection was okay although it would have been nice to see a few more IPA choices.
Fast and friendly service. I've read negative reviews about the noise level. I could see that being an issue during peak periods, but we there early on a Sunday evening and it was a non-issue.
I celebrated my birthday here and the Liberty Bar staff were extremelly pleasant and attentive from the moment we arrived. There was amazing and stylish jazz band playing in the front of the bar which all of us were deligthed with their music and all the way in the back of the bar another ambience area which made it great for anybody who wanted to hear something different or to be in an area with very little noise. Their drink menu is extensive and everyone was quite satisfied with their drinks and food (specially their seafood).
I made a reservation in advance for a group of 12. It was for a business-related special occasion. When we arrived, it was as if they had hastily slapped together a couple of tables and there were not enough seats for our group of 12. I asked a server if she could provide us with more chairs for the rest of our group, and she me told me to grab whatever was available at the bar and didn't even stop for a second to face our table. We flagged down another server who kindly brought us additional stools. It was way too loud in there and our ears were ringing when we left. Our office is nearby, and I will never return or recommend it to anyone in the area.
My girlfriend and I needed a place that seated 15 people, so our families could meet for the first time. The Liberty NYC staff was super accommodating and helped us rearrange the tables to optimize conversing AND as an added bonus the food was really good. I got the burger and it was amazing. The restaurant made a potentially high stress situation go super smoothly and we'll definitely be back. Thanks so much!
We were early for a reservation and the table wasn't ready. So we agreed to be seated at a high bar table instead. Waiter came over, brought tap water in a bottle with glasses, and took our drink order. When he came back he took our dinner order. Appetizer came 3 minutes before the dinner-no napkins or cutlery. Had to ask other wait staff for forks and napkins. Never asked us if we wanted another drink. Never came back to the table to see how ge meal was. Someone else brought the check and we have the payment to another waiter. Prices were great, there were happy hour drink specials and the food was pretty good. Good value but service stinks.
Everything about The Liberty was great except for the extremely loud music. It is unbearably loud to the point you cannot converse with your fellow table mates when dining. The ambiance, service, food - all exceptional! We left immediately after dining to find a quieter spot to continue to drink.
I can't say enough good things about Liberty NYC. I live in LA and had booked a birthday dinner reservation at City Vineyards two months in advance. When they left me in the lurch three days before my party, I found Liberty on open table. They were SO accommodating. We had a 7pm reservation for 15 people for dinner. Several of us arrived early and they were happy to have us sit at the bar or take our table which was already ready for us. They were happy to have us close out or transfer tabs. Once at the table, they offered to have people get separate checks (just getting things directly from the bar), or have a table check. People came at varying times and we stayed and enjoyed food and drink until after 10pm. The food was delicious as were the drinks. I will DEFINITELY be back to the Liberty for their wonderful service! Exactly what I wanted in a NY restaurant (and that is hard to find, a laid back wonderful place that takes reservations and is flexible). Thank you, Liberty, for making my birthday perfect (even more so when it was poised for a disaster when my original restaurant cancelled on me).
Booked this to meet friends as the website described it as a "Bar and a Restaurant". In fact it is a bar that serves food. Crowded, very noisy and virtually impossible to hold a normal conversation. Food acceptable but nothing special. Service acceptable but nothing special. New York prices.
This place was a last minute find and we were very happy with the food and outstanding service. The wait staff went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. The staff went the extra mile to help us out and print tickets for us that we accidentally left back at our apartment. This was a HUGE help and saved us an extra Uber trip back and forth to our sight-seeing. We ate an earlier dinner with our two teenagers and the food was tasty and the menu had plenty of variety for this family of four. The Buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich was delicious and my daughter enjoyed her Coconut Shrimp. My husband and son appreciated the huge TV broadcasting the sports events and the bar seating was big and spacious. We would definitely recommend for families, date nights, sports fans, and happy hour.
