The Liberty NYC
The Liberty's exclusive downstairs Clubroom is a perfect location for any private event for 30 to 150 people. The entire venue can hold 300 people or more, depending on the set up of your event.
The Liberty Bar itself, embodies the spirit of the city she serves; the Liberty to be one’s self. A 4000 square foot bar/restaurant set over two levels. The Liberty is located at 29 West 35th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, just steps from Herald Square. The space is elegant but informal with soaring 18ft ceilings. The venue is a marriage of the classic and the contemporary of New York.

What? I can’t hear you...
Waited 10 minutes and never even got asked our drink order. We left.
Fun restaurant. Our second time there for Clemson game! Lots of good food, drinks, and great service.
We really enjoyed the visit, but the room is cavernous and so noisy. We had to talk loudly to each other to be heard. Otherwise, the food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Decorating is very New York City, very cool! A little too loud for me, but my friend and her husband plan to return.
This is THE place to watch a Clemson football game. The NYC Clemson Alumni pack the place the it's crazy fun!!! The food is good and the service is great-we will definitely return when we are back in the city:)
We were expecting a steakhouse style restaurant but it was more of a pub atmosphere. That being said, the food was very good and we even had three steaks (medium, medium rare and rare) and they came out perfect. Our waiter was also the bartender (Niall) so he had to keep coming out from the bar to come over to the tables to serve us and the other people seated. But despite that handicap, the service was good and Niall was from Ireland so he was very friendly.
Everything around Penn Station/MSG is either a boisterous Irish Pub, which is great in certain situations, or a trashy tourist trap. Finding the Liberty after a concert at MSG as a NYer was a pleasant and much welcome surprise. It is elegant, open, has friendly service, great cocktails, and reasonable prices. We’ll be back!
I'm a huge Clemson fan, and this was the place to go to watch the game. The food was terrible and so were the margaritas. The bar was standing room only, however I was lucky enough to get a table. Don't go here to dine...Clemson football would be the only reason. Go Tigers!!!
It was a little more like a bar than a restaurant. We were expecting something a little nicer based on the photos.
Too loud. No longer has oyster happy hour which was why we went. Service was good.
My lunch experience here was very disappointing. They should not be offering a lunch option if they are not able to deliver a service level that matches the prices! Really, the food was bad, service so slow and it took forever to get the food! And totally over priced for the low quality of food. I had a classic ceasar salad with chicken. The chicken didnt taste like anything and was chewy, as if heated up in the microwave.
Don’t recommend for any lunches!!!
Meh. The service/food took a little while and the food wasn't very good. Had a fine time but wouldn't return.
The music was turned up too loud to have a conversation - my friends had to shout over the table at each other just to be heard. It was a Wednesday after work - we weren't looking for a club atmosphere, just a place to sit, drink, eat, and catch up with each other.
Food was pretty bad and there was nothing really special about the service. Probably fine for a happy hour.
Drag Brunch - AMAZING!
Drinks were just ok, but the brunch food was terrible. We ordered an avocado toast (which was really just a light spread of avocado) and the baked eggs, which looked inedible. We had to send it back, and ordered a pizza instead, which was decent.
Great service & happy our deals. This is a great mid town option.
Stopped by for dinner. It was close to our hotel. The food was fine but nothing special. It’s hard to mess up a chicken Caesar salad. But the chicken was kind of dry.
Menu was very “bar food” without any healthy options
Service was really good and friendly.
Good value w drink specials and happy hour prices.
Decent stop if you’re in the area without high culinary expectations.
Girls night out: simple girls night out ! Happy our menu for drinks to start. Then we tried the rum punch. Portion size was great no complaints.
Absolutely horrible service. Our appetizer was never taken from us, and our dinner plates remained at our table for well over an hour. Our table was also off balance.
Had such a great time! Went here with a group of friends and the host quickly sat us in their cute front lounge space. We had the HH menu and then stayed for dinner as well. The server (also named Chris) was super sweet and attentive. Loved the Moscow Mule and the Duo Dip! Def a great spot and will return soon.
I read the reviews on here and thought The Liberty seemed like a safe bet for what we needed, which was a reasonably priced (inexpensive for NYC) lunch spot for a large group close to another venue where we would be meeting up with a larger group. Proximity was good, price was a bit high for the quality of the food (not so good) and our server was very rude to us upon arrival. She pivoted her approach after I mentioned something to another staff member but overall a disappointing experience for the amount of money we spent here.
This used to be my go to spot after work. There was a “critter” we saw and as we ate. No one even apologized as people left after seeing it. My friend and I ate there because we already had our food, but after witnessing an unsanitary dining situation, rude waiters and poor treatment of customers, I don’t see myself going back. Disappointed in a place that used to bring so much joy.
The food was terrible. Really one of the worst meals I’ve had in nyc which was surprising bc I have eaten there before and it was always pretty good. I’m assuming they might’ve switched chefs which was a huge mistake. We ordered the hummus/roasted eggplant and there was absolutely zero flavor- I don’t even think they added salt. They just mashed up some chick peas, scooped it onto a plate and sent it out:/ The roasted eggplant was this obnoxious bright red color....not even really sure if was eggplant. Didn’t taste like it. Our table all ordered salmon and boy was that a bad move. The min they set our plates down the fish smell was beyond overwhelming. I’m not a fish expert but I know it isn’t supposed to smell like that! Anyway we ordered the cheese pizza after that since we were literally dying of hunger and everything else we ordered was inedible. The pizza was decent 5 out of 10, crust, sauce, cheese...whatever. Anyway don’t eat here. There’s a million other options in the area...
Came here for after work drinks and a bite so I could catch up with an old friend. It was very loud in the beginning but after happy hour got much more calm. Food was good, bar food but a step up. Drinks were good and reasonable prices. We never felt ignored by service and drinks came quickly. All in, perfect for what we needed.
Great place for Clemson sports in NYC. Great food and atmosphere!
They recently changed their menu. Waiter was very helpful with finding a gluten free option. Very loud at dinner time. Good place to meet friends for drinks.
We read reviews before hand and they were all over the map so we decided to form our own opinion. It was loud but not so much that we couldn’t talk to one another.
We had the strip steak and were pleasantly surprised how great it was. We knew we wanted steak and after checking other restaurants, we were shocked at what they were charging. This was around the corner from where we were staying at 32/32 so also convenient as well as great value.
It’s clearly a popular spot for happy hour.
I love this place. We’ve been there several times. Bartenders are great. The food is very good. Mac and cheese with Marinara sauce is awesome. Huge bar.
If you’re looking for an after work spot with loud atmosphere and decent food, this is the place. Also, incredibly affordable by NYC standards. Not a special occasion place by any means, but good for a quick and dirty meetup w friends.
Waiter was attentive and staff was very accommodating! A+ service!
I was unaware of the drag show but it was an unusual unexpected benefit to brunch
Great experience for our crowd of 23! Our seating was reserved and available when we arrived. Hostess and manager looked after our group making sure we were happy.
The menu selection was average. The food was okay. It’s a bar not a restaurant. If you want to go for drinks after work, it’s perfect. If you want to eat a meal, go some place else.
We arrived early around noon and the place was empty. I ordered an Irish coffee and got coffee with whiskey and a side of cream and sugar. They were prepping for an event at 1PM so it could be better. The food was average but nothing special. I would consider attending again maybe for drinks or something small. Much better options for brunch at the same or greater value.
The food was mediocre at best. Ordered my burger medium (assuming they might mess up a med-rare) and it was medium well.... My friend got the Portobello sandwich and was not impressed either. Food is very basic. Calamari seemed to be the frozen kind. It was okay, but overall the food was not a hit. No creativity at all.
Way too loud. Not enough staff. Mediocre food
It’s a bar, not a restaurant (yes they serve food). It was too loud, we left and went someplace else. I’m sure it’s great for a bar.
Great food and drinks, excellent service, and an overall pleasant atmosphere. We had a great time.
