We also share this vision. Our menu offers elevated comfort foods and pub fare using the best ingredients available. We serve 19 hand crafted beers on tap (plus PBR!), and another 60 by the bottle. Our wine list is carefully chosen to give you 30 affordable wines by the glass. Naturally, we also have a full selection of spirits as well.
We don't have a dress code, or for that matter, an ounce of pretension. We are casual enough for jeans and a tee shirt, but nice enough for a first date.
We are a neighborhood establishment, sitting at the gateway to South End and Dilworth, with a light rail stop in our parking lot.
We are unlike anything else in Charlotte.
Welcome to The Liberty.
We reserved the only 2:00 pm spot available this past Saturday. Upon arriving, 5 minutes early, we were told that they had a private party at 3. When I mentioned that I had a 2:00pm Open Table reservation, the Hostess begrudgingly advised us to go ahead in. We decided, understanding the need for a quick turnaround, to seat ourselves at the bar. The bartender walked up to us, asked if we needed a menu, and told us that the kitchen was closing in 4 minutes. We immediately left, feeling unwanted. We have been to The Liberty countless times and have had great meals and great services. We will be back. Just chalking this up not syncing their events properly with OpenTable.
Pig chips and poutine fries are great appetizers. Burgers are cooked very well. Service was a little slow for a Saturday night on the patio. Otherwise a great experience.
Food was great, but it took over 10 minutes for the server to come over. After this initial stumble, the rest of the evening went well.
Went around 8 PM on a Fri nite, with a friend. Had a good place to sit quiet enough to have an hour or more of conversation, good service, great food and presentation, service was attentive, friendly and professional. Stayed for a long time engrossed in conversation and never felt pressure to leave. Great place.
Main course from kitchen a little slow to come out, restaurant wasn't busy. The 2 round of drinks TOOK FOREVER, our waiter came to us 3 times and said your drinks are coming up but our drinks didn't show up until AFTER we were done with our meal. Almost denied them but I was with a customer, had I not been I would have sent them back. As slow as they were no good reason, 1 Gin & Tonic 2 beers. Not hard.
I had the scallops wrapped in bacon. They were SOOOOOO salty, and you only received 3 scallops which shocked me. Frugal. First time here, will give another try in the future if location fits in hopes of a better experience.
Super sad to see they’ve closed their doors at the South End location! Delicious and everyone was so friendly.
Was very disappointed, had been here before for a brunch with girlfriends and absolutely loved the menu, ambiance, drinks, and service. I came back this last Saturday with my mom, I was so excited to take her and knowing she’s vegetarian I knew there was some options for her. The restaurant was empty when we walked in, we waited about 10 mins before a hostess said we could just sit ourselves outside and she handed us lunch menus. We sat for another 10 minuets and we had a pretty good idea what we wanted. A server came by and finally offered us drink and made us aware that while we were sitting there the menu changed to dinner, we received those. Not many options for my Mom and nothing that really stood out for me. I won’t be returning.
Food and service was fantastic as always
Friendly staff, went off peak Friday evening at 6:30 - hmmm not crowded at all. Crunch burger was tasty as was Poutaine.
It was fine. I am a vegetarian and ordered a veggie burger. The waiter asked who ordered it and gave me the plate. I was about to bite in when I thought it looked like meat. Sure enough, he gave me a turkey burger. Thankfully, I didn’t take a bite- but gross! They barely apologized and didn’t really care. I won’t go back.
We had a party of 6 and had no problem with the noise carrying on a conversation. The food was great, mostly pub food but they do have entrees. I will definitely go again. On Saturday night I would recommend a reservation, the place was packed at 7:30pm.
Our server did a great job taking care of our group of 11 , including 1 baby. Sorry, I can't remember her name now. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and beers, plus the bucket of freshly made pretzels was a hit!
We booked a booth at the Inaugural Liberty trivia Contest. It has a ways to go. We crushed 3 parts of the 4 of the contest, but one part was unfathomable, so we only got 3rd place ($25 OMB gift card - sweet!) Some self-named "Douchebags" won 1st place. The Liberty burger was so big, one of our party had to have a doggie bag. The Korean wings were great, but the pickles served with it were so-so. Try so spring-fresh kim-chee. The beers were great, and that's what we came for. Any chance of adding Cigar City to the list? Keep up the contest; it holds great promise. The Curmudgeons shall return!!!!
Generally poor Easter experience. Took 3 tried to get the food right and the pie wasn’t nearly cooked through. Very disappointing.
Extremely noisy in restaurant area next time we will try the bar area.
The Open Table reservation process worked fine. The restaurant had come well recommended, and since we had a group of us heading uptown to a basketball game, this seemed like a great option.
I must say that I was disappointed in the food. It didn't wow me with flavor and the prices seemed high ( almost $20 for a little brisket over mashed potatoes is one example). Obviously my choice might have just not been right, but a number of us weren't just struck by the food. Maybe it was just us. It wasn't bad, just nothing special, and a little pricey.
Excellent, courteous and prompt service
Great chicken sandwich w a lettuce bun and brussel sprouts. My dining friends both said they would order it next time. An easy lunch spot!
Great place, always wonderful food and service. I have enjoyed many great meals. Mothers Day 2017 was truly awesome.
I've been here for business lunches and dinners in the past. Always loved coming here. It's been a while since I've visited but I seem to recall the menu being more than salads and sandwiches for lunch. The lunch menu was underwhelming right now. We did love some of the appetizers. Not sure I would schedule a special business lunch there again.
A 2pm lunch on Saturday. Restaurant side was near empty. The positives were my wife’s cocktail after it was sent back to add simple syrup. That worked. My burger was done perfectly and flavorful. They do great burgers. Fries were luke warm at best. My wife’s salmon was under cooked and cold in the middle. Had to get hostess to assist because our server was AWOL. Apologies followed with a new salmon which was done perfectly. This was out worst visit here. Others had been fine.
The Liberty was so great! This was my second time here for dinner and it was so great! I had the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and it did not disappoint! Drinks were amazing and very accommodating wait staff!
It was just okay, we thought we would try it. I wouldn’t necessarily go back.
They are missing it on a lot of fronts. The food was average at best. The atmosphere is average.
It used to be a lot better. It is a great location
Service was terrible. All food was cold. Won’t be returning.
Service was slow
The service was not good - we had to ask three different times to get refills on our drinks. The food was very good... truffle fries were amazing for a shared starter. We all had burgers that were delicious - only complaint is that the sweet potato fries were undercooked. Chips and salad were very good. Would go back for sure!
It was a great meal with fabulous service. Don’t skip the pork rinds but every dish is a pleaser. An amazing beer list plus a derp wine offering complete the meal. The budino is a fantastic finish for dessert, too.
Surprised Birthday Dinner
Went for brunch with friends. Not too busy from what it looked like. The waitress was very nice but got a couple things on our checks wrong. No big deal, would go there again!
The Korean wings were amazing. Our waitress was really good as she had a whole section including two large parties but never neglected our table.
I also had the pimento cheese beef that came with loaded potatoes that were to die for. I will definitely be back.
We didn’t get seated for 30 min after our res time
My colleagues brisket was so dry he couldn’t eat it
Everything else was satisfactory
The lamb burger was delicious. The beverages, food, and check were brought out to us quickly.
This past Saturday at 1:30 PM The Liberty was hopping. Had to wait for table to clear. Food was excellent: French Dip burger done perfectly, but 2 small hiccups, au jus tasted canned, side salad was very small (much smaller than the Blakeney location), my wife's fish sandwich was a hit. Best of all were the cocktails made with a local moonshine equivalent with ginger. Ginger was present in first drink, but not in the second one. Still tasted great.
One of the better food bargains on Charlotte. Tasty choices nicely prepared and efficient friendly waitstaff.
Loved eating in the bar area being entertained by Josh Daniel!
Loved it! Great food and service. Fun atmosphere. Excellent beer and cocktail menu.
GREAT SERVICE !!! OUR WAITRESS WAS VERY HELPFUL, I BELIEVE THAT HER NAME WAS LESLIE ?? !!! WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
We were greeted pleasantly by the host but felt extremely hurried thru our dinner by the server. One of our three meals arrived room temperature. We've been here before and had a better experience. Maybe tonight was just an off night. With so many other choices in the area I can't say we'll be back anytime soon.
