The food and ambiance were very good. The waiter was horrible. He never even looked at our table as he was going by, never checked to see if we needed anything more, and kept forgetting to bring drinks we ordered. Finally, my husband had to get up and walk over to a neighboring table to get his attention and ask about a drink that had been ordered about 20 minutes earlier. The drink was cancelled because we had had enough of the bad service and just wanted to get out of the restaurant. We have been to The Lazy Goat before and had a wonderful experience. If this had been our first visit, I doubt we would return.
Our daughter picked this restaurant out. We recently moved here from New Jersey. It was a belated birthday dinner for her. She obviously has good taste in restaurants. We also got to meet the new chef Wilberto and the general manager Andrés. They went above and beyond seating us at a window view table of the Reedy River. Perfect night. Can’t wait to go back
Just Ok. Had heard and read a lot of great reviews and was generally underwhelmed. Service was slow and the food delivery was not well timed (we waited a long time for our appetizers and then got our entrees almost immediately afterward). It wasn’t awful or anything, but I don’t know that we will go back.
Been here a number of times now--consistently very good food, service and ambiance.
Great spot for a nice lunch! Sebastian was a pleasure, the food was delicious, and the seating with a view of the river was beautiful! Thank you for a great anniversary lunch date!
The setting is stunning. The hostess was efficient but not smiling nor welcoming. Also in a relatively empty restaurant she chose the least desirable table in the room, near the servers’ area/kitchen entry to seat us. We requested another table which she provided, but with a sour looking expression on her face. The waitress was fine: the food was average to good but not outstanding. Based on other reviews we were disappointed.
The food was great - the brussels sprouts are my favorite. Service was excellent.
Great service and experience. Location was excellent too.
Food, staff and experience was wonderful!
Mother’s Day before the show, “Waitress.” Aw some view of river, excellent wine and delicious food.
Made reservations for Mothers Day. I didn't realize this was brunch. Food was cold. I like Lazy Goat except for brunch food.
We ate at The Lazy Goat for Mother's Day Brunch. The restaurant had a nice buffet available that my son absolutely loved. Chef prepared beautiful custom vegan dishes for the two adults. Thank you for the special vegan accommodations. The meal was both beautiful and delicious. We also enjoyed our table beside the window.
This was my first time however, I will go again. It was Mother's Day and Greenville had a MAJOR Art event downtown and the Lazy Goat was RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. They get a pass for that reason. I believe a evening dinner would be calm and inviting.
Went for Mother’s Day. 1st time there. Will go back
the food was cold and I was disappointed for the first time with any of your restaurants since we have been going to them. my family and I will still attend them just maybe not the lazy goat.
Good food, great atmosphere and location. Service seemed ill trained - possibly all new staff. Will be back because of the great location and food. I hope they can provide better service next time.
It was the perfect evening! Sat outside on a beautiful evening! The meat and cheese selection is amazing along with the mussels!
Definitely will be back!!
Great location overlooking the river. Mediocre service, somewhat bland ambiance, expensive wine by the glass. The Goat seems to believe they have something special, but try the competition, like Hall's, and you'll soon see there are much better choices to spend your dining dollars.
This was our second visit (first one was to the upstairs bar for snacks) and will be our last. Perhaps it's just our personal expectations.. I'd say,, give it a try and see for your self.
This was one of the most pleasant dining experiences we have had in a long time! First, the reservations were necessary because without them, people were being turned away. Next, the food was outstanding and the portions were reasonable. Our waiter was quite accommodating with regards to our son's food allergies. He basically created a dish that my son could eat. Finally, the wait staff were complimentary of one another, which is a delightful change from the way you hear many people communicate. What an exceedingly delightful time!
I truly like The Lazy Goat, and will continue to patronize their restaurant, but they DO have an understaffed restaurant. And always have. The service is one of the slowest in Greenville, but it is NOT the servers fault. It's a management issue.
Terrible experience from the hostess who greeted us with indifference, our server who didn't serve to the overpriced ordinary appitizers and entrees. Our server took our drink order and never came back.I had to flag down a member of management who finally brought our drinks. Yes, our server did come later to annoy us during dinner interrupting conversation to ask if everything was okay. Of course everything was awful. We were not even offered a drink or dessert as a peace offering. By the way, the room is noisy if you're attempting a conversation with your dinner mate. I'll never go back and recommend you choose another downtown restaurant.
Excellent food and service! The "to share" menu is the best.
Too many flies on the windows. Furniture starting to show age. Food was very good but potions were very small and a better description could have been provided
Graduation dinner for 8 was a wonderful experience for us all. Food was delicious!
Great restaurant overlooking the Reedy river. Part of the Table 301 restaurant group.
Very comfortable and casual dining experience. The service was outstanding and attentive.
The crispy Brussels sprouts and the Moroccan lamb were both delicious and ample quantities. The pizza and fried goat cheese; (signature dish?), not so much.
The food was below par. We have been three time previously and enjoyed the experience. This time the food was subpar. Four people had pizza and it was just warm . The salads were fair. I chalk it up to a Sunday ... perhaps a fill in chef?
Service was spotty and the restaurant was only half full. We were disappointed.
Excellent food and friendly, efficient service. Outdoor seating was an added bonus on a beautiful evening.
Was here last week, started at the bar with two handcrafted cocktails. Both bartenders were fantastic. Once time for our reservation, we were moved outside to our table. Our server, was much more occupied with three ladies a few tables over and was absolutely terrible. Food was amazing!
Patio dining is wonderful with a view of downtown Greenville and the Reedy river. Food was excellent. Try the mussels, my choice from an eclectic menu. Service was very good despite a couple of large groups dining nearby. Very good wine list with several price point options.
Outstanding! Our server was outstanding, attentive and fantastic service. Our meals were decadent along with our dessert choices. A must when we visit Greenville next year.
We had a reservation but appeared to be placed in an upper floor room that had the appearance of an overflow room. No music. No ambiance. The waiter worked the bar as well. We had a extremely weathly visitor(sponsor) visiting from Naples and wanted to take us to dinner. He literally “waited” on the table for the waiter- suggesting specials, asking for steak knifes Vera’s the butter knifes left over from appetizers. The check was brought to our host without dessert even being offered first. Again our host asked the waiter to offer to us. The 2 steak plates both should have been medium rare and were medium with 1/2 the plate covered with the entree and 1/2 the plate just bare.
I’ve been in Greenville 5 years and ate here once when I first moved here. I will not again. I felt embarrassed because th host wanted to take us “somewhere really nice.” And it was costly but not nice.
Positives are the view. Other than that, there are many better choices Downtown. We have enjoyed the Lazy Goat in the past but our experience was below par this time. Two our water glasses had lipstick stains on them. Our waiter never offered anything else for us to drink. He was sarcastic in his answers to any of our questions and seemed totally uninterested in us. Once it got a little more crowded, we had to flag him down to take our plates. We brought a dessert ( which I’d asked in our reservation if we could do and never got a response so I brought it) and had to stack everything to make room. We had to wave again for our check and when the waiter returned he didn’t bring our credit card back. Since we were celebrating one of our party’s birthdays, we wanted to keep the mood light and fun so didn’t make a fuss at the time. Unfortunately it was a less than memorable special dinner out and an expensive one at that. We won’t go back.
Food was great as usual. Hostess and server were super nice.
Reservation at 8....seated 45 minutes afterward with other similar sized groups seated before us.
Finally ate at 10:30. God was great as always but it will be hard to make the decision to go back.
After years of making this a "must visit" stop on our annual trips to Greenville,we were disappointed. Although those serving us worked diligently, the restaurant seemed clearly understaffed. The menu is much shorter and was missing a number of old favorites. The tapas dominance has shifted to a more standard menu set-up. Our meat and cheese platter was totally absent any simple condiments . Not sure what the plan is here but doubt we will return next year.
First time here and so loved it. The Ambiance was perfect. The food was so flavorful and just enough! I would definitely be coming back and would highly recommend to a friends and family.
Surprisingly lackluster service considering that the restaurant was not very busy when we were there. We initially asked the waiter for a minute or two to look at the menu before ordering. We had to flag him down almost 20 minutes later to get him to take our order. My son's drink was not refilled until we were almost done eating. The food was delicious, but my steak was well past the ordered medium rare.
We stopped in for a quick dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The service was very good and we sat by the window overlooking the water. I had the Even Lazier Paella and it was outstanding. The chicken was tender and very tasty, the chorizo just right and the whole thing blended together very nicely. My wife had the eggplant and she said it was good as well. They had outside seating as well and I imagine this is quite a good spot in the evening. Enjoy!
Loved the Brussel Sprouts and Garlic Shrimp. Lazy Paella was a bit disappointing as it was just too salty. Our waiter was fabulous and I would still go back regardless of the paella. There are other yummy things on the menu.
Service not coordinated.
