About The Lazy Goat

The Lazy Goat is a Mediterranean-themed restaurant with a menu featuring global influences from Spain, Morocco, Italy, France, Greece, Africa and the Middle East in a relaxed atmosphere where taking the time to "linger and share" is encouraged.

The diverse menu was created to accommodate a variety of diner preferences with meat & cheese plates, small plates to “graze and nibble,” and main dishes.

Guests are invited to take their time while "trying a little bit of this and a little bit of that" or a "whole lot of whatever they like."

The Lazy Goat is consistently wonderful. The food is inventive without being off-putting -- people with adventurous palates and people who like to play it safe will all find something to love. The service is just wonderful: attentive but not intrusive. And the setting is gorgeous with its Reedy River overlook.

Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The ambience was lively and everyone seemed happy to be there. Unfortunately, the food was unreliable. My Morrocan lamb was okay, and the Brussels sprouts we're fantastic, as was my friend's cream soup. However, my husband could eat neither his falafel salad nor the fried goat cheese balls. We won't be returning.

I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.

We recently celebrated a birthday at The Lazy Goat. We were seated at the window with a fabulous view of the river and riverwalk; the beautiful view set the ambience for the evening. I ordered the grouper and the birthday boy ordered the scallops. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and plated well for a great presentation. For dessert, we shared panna cotta and a french press. Delicious - from beginning to end!

Exquisite. The mussels were superb and grilled focaccia and personal pizzas are to die for. The Lazy Goat is a MUST whenever we are in Greenville.

From the fried goat cheese appetizer (one of several different starters and entrees selected) to the pork tenderloin with Moroccan couscous, sultanas, Parmesan creamed local squashes and cardamon-honey glaze, we over-ordered and over-ate. A thoroughly delightful, and quite diverse, meal served by an attentive waitress. Now if someone had just thrown a "noise" shield over the group of rowdy businessmen to our rear, this would have been a five-star experience at a very modest price.

We had eaten there before and it was good. this time however three of us chose the rice paella and the rice was heavily over-salted. This spoiled the meal.

The server was very good at trying to correct things and we appreciated that.

The bar area in this restaurant is very good, great bar tends who are knowledgeable about cocktail mixing and had great personalities.

Another great meal, ate outside. We tried some of the small plates this time instead of entrees. They were all very good, especially the new squid salad which was outstanding. Sarah our waitress was top notch.

Steven our server was attentive and informative. Our meals were good. Wine recommended by waiter (less expensive than the one my husband had originally picked) was very good. Coffee and zambucca afterwards was great. May come back but may try elsewhere.

The restaurant had a very fun atmosphere and the service was exceptional. Very attentive and prompt. The food was good And they had a lot of unusual choices. It was a bit loud in the restaurant and hard to carry-on conversations with my coworkers. The flavored vodka choices needs to be expanded.

We got Lazy paella, but it’s taste bitter and sour, even with out the lemon, not cooked in the pan but only served with the pan. And they didn’t clean the sand in those mussels. Kind of disappointed with this signature entree.

Disappointing. We had been here as part of the Historical Food Tour (the dessert course) and thought it was very good, so we decided to try it for dinner. There were six in our party. We started with the Harissa Spiced Hummus. It was a tiny cup of hummus with a few carrots and celery and four little pita triangles. It looked like absolutely no thought was put into the presentation at all. Four had the Lazy Paella, one had the Chermoula Roasted Grouper and one had the Serrano Ham Pizza. The Paella tasted as if it had been made days before and re-heated in a microwave. The Grouper was very good, but the vegetables that accompanied it were unexciting. The pizza was the biggest surprise. We all agreed that a frozen DiGiorno pizza has more flavor than this. Our server was outstanding, though. She was extremely attentive and very helpful. The restaurant's atmosphere is very nice, although a bit noisy. One of the best views in Greenville. I wish I could give a better rating because we loved the view, but the food was FAIR, at best.

My husband and I were staying at the Hampton Inn next door to the restaurant so the convenience was perfect. We gave the restaurant a "good" overall but it could have been better with more attention to small details. We chose a salad and a shrimp appetizer to share. For our main course we chose a paella. Before we finished the shrimp our paella arrived steaming hot and we hadn't even touched the salad. Bad timing and something the waitress should have told the kitchen. It really spoiled the paella because we were then rushing to finish the appetizers before the paella got cold. This one small detail ruined a nice meal. We only finished half of the paella and since we were staying in a hotel couldn't take it back to the room. Not a great experience. Somebody messed up but we did inform the waitress.

The restaurant was recommended by friends. Service and ambiance was great. I had the paella. Some of the worst ever. I might be biased since I live in a very Cuban culture influenced city but if you don't know how to make it please don't try. It was mushy, wet, and the flavors were totally out of balance.

The service was very good. Thanks Steven! The food was top-shelf. The grouper and pork tenderloin both melted in your mouth. The noise level is quite the din. The concrete floors and vast windows create an echo chamber. Suggest installing noise absorption panels.
