The Lazy Goat Ratings and Reviews
The drinks were not good at all. The cheese and meat board was great as always but my steak was tough and dry. LG IS ONE IF OUR FAVORITE PLACES. We do not make a habit of leaving bad reviews but it wasn’t good this time. We complained about the drinks and not really even an apology and we paid for drinks that we didn’t drink.
Lazy Goat is one of our favorite's and a logical choice for Valentine's Day. As expected, it was busy, but even with reservations, we got stuck in the upstairs room, which we don't like as much. The service was somewhat slower than usual, though the waiter was great. It seems the kitchen was just overtaxed. We love the Goat and always take out-of-town guests there, and all of them love it too. An occasion-day just might not be the best time to enjoy all the goodness.
Lazy Goat is always a good choice for unique presentations and interesting meals. I love the ambiance which is light-hearted and special. The view is great, and I'm always so happy to have a window seat, although the view is possible from almost any seat in the downstairs dining room. Great service. Food was fantastic. Loved the fried goat cheese appetizer, French fries with homemade ketchup is fantastic, loved my beef tenderloin and my husband's grouper was thoroughly enjoyed. Lazy Goat is a great option for people who enjoy a little change in the usual. Thanks for a great evening!
Food was delicious! Started with goat cheese and honey and crispy Brussel Sprouts. Even if you’re not a fan of Brussel sprouts, give these a try! Lamb is always delicious. The paella for one was huge and had plenty of protein not just rice. A lot of selections so everyone can find something to enjoy at the Lazy Goat.
My third time. Lamb appetizer always a favorite; the Paella could use less rice and more fish other than clams or mussels; the eggplant entree was not at all what I expected: too many huge tomatoes and some other taste I can't define. Disappointed that the waitress noticed I had only taken a small spoonful and didn't offer to substitute something or remove it from the bill. The goat cheese with pistachios is very tasty but just know they are little fried balls. Desserts yummy and lovely view.
The food was very good and we ended up ordering a few items and just sharing everything. The mussels appetizer was amazing and very filling, grouper dish was amazing as well, fish was cooked perfectly, and the paella was wonderful. Great flavors and great attention to detail.
The Lazy Goat had a fantastic menu. We had the Brussels Sprouts appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the truffle fries. For an entree I had the pork loin with Marissa braised greens and winter squash. The north African spices were amazing. It was a different flavor profile for me and I loved it. The leftovers were even better!! My husband had the duck pizza and thought it was unique and very tasty. Our service was only fair. Our server left halfway through our meal and the bartender took over our table. Neither server took our dirty dishes away (our appetizer plates remained on our table the whole meal), and we refilled our own wine glasses and our water glasses sat empty a lot. But they were both friendly. We were surprised at how empty the restaurant was on a Sat night. That's a shame considering how good the food was.
The food was all delicious (especially the eggplant and the goat cheese)! The St. Germain cocktail was refreshing and light. The portions were slightly skewed (too few pitas for lots of meat, too much eggplant and not enough [tasty] bread for two people). The service was very kind. We had a lovely meal overall.
I'll start by saying the food and the service was excellent. Everything arrived at the table quite quickly and the waitress checked up on us multiple times between courses, which we definitely appreciated. Everything we had was delicious and we will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. My only complaint was that the downstairs area was a little loud, but there was a huge table right next to us so that was probably the cause.
The main courses were not good. The many spices were unusual and and tasty. Our appetizers were good. We noticed that much of the food had a sweet taste from the brussell sprouts to the olives to the sauces or broth that was with the Spanish Red Shrimp.
It was a birthday and no one said a word about it.
We were disappointed.
Food was great except that service was rushed and we weren't able to have more than 2 bites of app before salad was served and we weren't finished with salad before entree was served. We then had to wait to have salad plates removed from table. Large table was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. Following dinner, we spoke with the person at the front greeting station and were told "that's what we should expect that type of service during restaurant week" Come back when it's not restaurant week. We were told they are not fine dining but "finer" dining.
As I said, the food was great.
We've never had BAD food at Lazy Goat. The food is always good. We don't go often. It's loud, and service is never great--just mediocre. It's usually long enough between visits to forget about the noise and lack of service. The food is what draws us to our, biannual meal at Lazy Goat.
We enjoyed our appetizers on the restaurant week menu; brussel sprouts were excellent and the manchego cheese and ham was delicious. The entrees came out before we were half way done with the appetizers which we brought to the attention of the server. So timing could have been better. The manager came over to apologize and offered us a free dessert. His gesture was appreciated.
This was my 3rd time at the Lazy Goat. A bit disappointed with the food and service this time. The service was slow for the basics; drinks, refills, and to place the order. The Brussels Sprouts were a bit over seasoned and the grits were cold. Overall good food, but not as good as in the past.
This was the opposite of our first experience. If you go please request seating on the floor below the entrance. The ambience far exceeds the main floor. The main floor feels like an abandoned office building. No one came to the table for 15 minutes until finally the manager came over and took our order. The spicy hummus appetizer came quickly but was fairly bland. Not as good as the first time we had it. The entree came 20 minutes later and the Mediterranean chicken was so dry my wife could not eat it. At least they did comp that entree. The paella was mushy as the rice was over done. Very disappointing.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary on New Years Eve. We were seated right away at a beautiful table near the window overlooking the river! Our waitress was amazing and right on top of our needs. Food was amazing! Love the meat and cheese platters that they can custom make to your liking! To top it all off at the end we had the Honey Rosemary cheesecake; OMG so delicious! We will definitely be back for our anniversary again. Thank you Lazy Goat for a wonderful romantic evening!
My wife and I really enjoy the Table 301 restaurants and dine with them often. We went to Lazy Goat on New Year's Eve for an early dinner. I used Open Table and I got the feeling that the restaurant was going to be busy given the limited selections I had. On the contrary, the restaurant was almost empty. Our menu was limited to the lunch selections of various sandwiches rather than the full menu. It was our fault for not asking beforehand because we were looking forward to the small plates for dinner. My feedback is the lunch menu is fairly expensive for the selections. I spent as much on lunch as I have for dinner and I had a broader menu and purchased more food. I will certainly return to the Lazy Goat and the other Table 301 restaurants but I will not go back to Lazy Goat for the lunch menu as it stands.
