The Lazy Goat
The diverse menu was created to accommodate a variety of diner preferences with meat & cheese plates, small plates to “graze and nibble,” and main dishes.
Guests are invited to take their time while "trying a little bit of this and a little bit of that" or a "whole lot of whatever they like."
My meal here was phenomenal. I brought a date here during restaurant week and the entire experience was perfect.
We've been to the Lazy Goat lots of times and enjoy its food. A rainy Saturday night during Restaurant Week was probably not the best time to have come, however. We really enjoyed the smallish room of the top floor with a window view of the Reedy River, but in the rain there was little to be seen. The menu was fine--liked the jambon and cheese starter--the entree--sea bass--was okay and the canolini for dessert quite good, but the high point, as it has been several times in the past was their unsurpassed brussel sprouts. Problem was rushed and hurried service. We weren't half through the starter when the entree, which became tepid, of course--was rushed to the side of our seating and, after being reminded, the Brussel sprouts finally got there just before dessert plates were served. They had a party in the divided-off front room which may have explained it, but I got the feeling that they didn't care much.
Been going here for 10+ years. Excellent food as always
It was an overall positive meal, quality food and tasty. Paella was more of a risotto, no caramelized rice. But like many common recipes, many variations exist. I'll make note of this and try something different next time.
The Lazy Goat was a fanciful dinner & wine indulgence before a local Broadway series show at the Peace Center. The atmosphere, food, wine & service were flawless.
Very nice evening. Server very good about timely service to allow us to leave in time for a show.
Wanted good service and good food before attending miss Saigon at the peace center in the lazy goat fulfilled my expectations
Love Lazy Goat for the atmosphere, food & service but we were a little disappointed on this visit. We chose the restaurant week 3 for $30 option plus the delicious fried goat cheese.
The portions were small & our pork tenderloin was overlooked. The cannelloni was not what we expected. The cream was good but the outside pastry was hard & crunchy.
Had a light dinner before M. Saigon. Made resos on Open Table and seated immediately. Food service ambiance view— all superb. Have visited many times in the past, and still continues to WOW!!!’
We have not been here and several months, but sure was good to get back. The food and service were both outstanding! We look forward to returning soon.
Consistently good food and service. On this visit overall the food was great with a couple exceptions which I'll note. Service was excellent. Ambiance is great for conversations with small and large groups. Nice views.
We ordered 2 apps and 2 entrees and one dessert. One of the entrees was pork and it came over-cooked. Medium well was requested but it came out more of a well done. Dessert (part of prix fixe menu this visit) was Cannoli - 3 mini Cannolis - and they were underwhelming. The pastry part was chilled and a slightly soggy feeling instead of crisp and the filling was average.
Been here a number of times and experience is always positive. Great view and food is consistently good.
We have eaten at this establishment a number of times, and were never disappointed..
One of our favorites in Greenville
We love this place and visit frequently. I literally crave their truffle oil pommes frites (serving size is large enough to share) which I get along with the mussels. The service is always good and the view of the river and Peace Center are beautiful. Very chic but casual dining experience.
On vacation Greenville. Found this restaurant in a great location with an excellent Mediterranean-based menu and an outstanding location. Highly recommend this not-so-hidden gem.
We had a great night. Service was awesome and the food was amazing as well!
It had been a while since I dined at The Lazy Goat. My friends and I had a late dinner for New Years and enjoyed the variety of small plates and paella. It was perfect way to ring in the new year.
Food is excellent and the view is great from the dining area. Jacob did a great job as our server. Highly recommend.
Everything was awesome! Except the sausage pizza. It was super dry.
We had a wonderful time. Our waitress made great recommendations for us. The Brussel sprouts and fried goat cheese balls are a must have. The pizzas were fun and eclectic as well!. We will definitely be going back when we can!!
Some of the food was good but some of it was really just mediocre, nothing special. Would not return
Loved the restaurant We had a charming waitress and loved the food
My son , who lives in Durham, loves Lazy Goat as does my granddaughter who went to Furman.
We liked the place and the view. My daughter thought her dinner, the eggplant casserole, was okay but was more like an eggplant dip than a casserole (rice would have helped) . I didn't feel well so only ate a little pita bread so am not able to comment on the food. Our waitress was okay but didn't seem very interested since neither of us had a drink and I didn't eat. I'd probably try it again as there were items I would have enjoyed if I had felt better but there was absolutely nothing I could try. The fish sounded pretty spicy, the chicken was marinated, etc. Still it sounded good.
Excellent food and service. Everything was delicious. Steak melted in my mouth. My husband’s lamb was tender.
This was a find! Literally! We had GPS directions but there was no sign. Finally figured out a goat lying on its back meant "Lazy Goat". The restaurant is on the bottom level of a hotel, right on the Reedy River with a spectacular view. Amazingly, the food matched the setting. Whatever you do, make sure you order the fried goat cheese appetizer. Unbelievable! Little balls of fried goodness all creamy inside with honey drizzled over. The Greek salad was perfect to share and had lots of yummies in it. The eggplant was really well-prepared and tasty, as was the Moroccan lamb appetizer. The server was knowledgeable and friendly, as was the adorable busboy. We'll definitely be back when we visit Greenville.
Buddy was in town from DC and we love the view of Greenville from here so we took him to enjoy the food and scenery!
We had a great dinner. They have a good wine list, and a varied menu.
This was our first experience with the Lazy Goat. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. The appetizers, entrées and desserts were innovative and the flavor groupings were excellent! We'll certainly return.
Wonderful Mediterranean cuisine. The appetizers are the best part!
Dave our server was accommodating and extremely alert.
Great food, must get the crispy brussel sprouts! Cocktails are balanced and tasty. Black Tahini Chicken is perfectly fire grilled.
It was my best friend’s birthday. Our server was amazing and the LG never disappoints. We frequent there, but they may special occasions amazing.
Our server was wonderful. Took my granddaughter for a special dinner. He was very attentive.
Excellent food and outstanding service.
The food and service was amazing! We hope to go again when in town.
I made a reservation - for one - at the strong advice of my cousin while I was in town for business. Could not be happier!! Great view of the river (although it was too cold to sit outside, it must be great during the summer). Quick, attentive service, and the waiter was more than willing to accommodate my requests (such as not serving the Sage Gimlet in a martini glass - I hate martini glasses). The fried goat cheese.. order it!!! The chef Diego clearly pays a lot of attention to the ingredients, and seems to be very intentional about the seasonality of the menu. Delicious.
Good choice of small plates to share. Desert choices somewhat limited
Overall good experience. Appetizers and desserts were fabulous. All entrees were average. With entrees ranging from $25-30 a head, you want to be impressed but it didn’t happen. Server was fantastic!!
We drove 45 minutes for a birthday dinner to have the scallops on a Sunday because reservations were full on Saturday. Well, they were out of scallops, they were out of the pasta and they were out of a third dish. A bit disappointed but...
The tiramisu was so so good.
