The Lazy Goat
The diverse menu was created to accommodate a variety of diner preferences with meat & cheese plates, small plates to “graze and nibble,” and main dishes.
Guests are invited to take their time while "trying a little bit of this and a little bit of that" or a "whole lot of whatever they like."
Thursday –5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Sunday – 11:00am – 9:00pm
Took my visiting family for lunch on Sunday. My wife and I had been before but always for dinner, lunch was a new experience. I would go back in a heartbeat. Don't visit without trying the fried goat cheese balls!! Excellent service, food and views.
First time at Lazy Goat. Very good meal and service.
Very good lamb dish with an excellent wine pairing suggestion by our waitress. Great riverfront view.
food came out fast, was extremely delicious
It was great!
Delightful food and service!
We've been taking our guests to Lazy Goat for years and all I can say is that it's changing. Looks like new management or maybe a new chef. No more cheese and charcuterie list to select your own. We used to love that. They now cover the Goat Cheese Balls (used to be our fav) w/ black pepper. Totally different and not mentioned in the menu description. Overall was still good but there's a lot of "Good & Great" in Greenville.
The service was poor. There were very few people dining there that night, so the long waits for food and drinks seemed odd. The waitress was wrong about the contents of the dishes. (One of our guests HATES onions and two of the dishes contained onions after she assured us that they did not contain onions. We did not have time to send them back.) The entrees were lukewarm and the portions very small. The Brussels sprouts and pomme frites were excellent.
Thank you for a wonderful dinner; we enjoy the Lazy Goat very much.
Unfortunately it was one of our most disappointing experiences. Made notes in the reservation that we were celebrating my wife’s birthday, no mention during the entire interaction while we were there.
We were sat in the main restaurant upstairs which feels more like an event space than restaurant. Where the view was beautiful the ambiance was off inside.
Santiago was our waiter, he was nice but clearly new. Ordered drinks first, asked for a glass of champagne each to celebrate and then picked our bottle of wine. Also ordered appetizers (hummus with pita and vegetables and the pickles) at the same time.... appetizers came out before the champagne (sent out wrong drink first, white wine instead of champagne came to the table). Vegetables on the hummus plate we very old, carrots were white and flimsy (appetizer was brought out by a supervisor or manager on duty who could clearly notice they weren’t fresh). Made mention to Santiago, he REMOVED OUR PITA AND HUMMAS WITH HIS HANDS AT THE TABLE to switch out the vegetables. Completely unprofessional and unsanitary.
After this we decided to get our tab and go somewhere else. Management never came to the table, no apologies given.
Possibly the BEST scallop entree I've ever had! The scallops were served on a bed of slightly crunchy diced beets that were a perfect foil to the richness of the scallops. Also adding to the melange of tastes and textures were small trumpet mushrooms, crispy pea sprouts, and a wonderful root puree. I waited too long to write this review to remember some of the specific ingredients, but I DID take a picture, and I'm remembering how incredible the meal was as I look at the picture of my plate!
We also had a wonderful treat for dessert - which was actually listed as an appetizer on the menu. The fried goat cheese balls drizzled with honey were perfect with a glass of wine to finish off the meal!
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The Brussels sprouts and falafel salad were great starts to our meal. We had the olives too! Yum! We shared a pitcher of delicious sangria and the lazy goat paella. We finished off our meal with rice pudding and spice cake. All the food was fresh and delicious. We would definitely go back when in Greenville.
Always good! But was very loud the night we dined. Between all the other diners, the music playing and the open dining room. Was hard to hear each other talk.
Great. We will go again. Our server was very good.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience. It was a special occasion and that was noted in the reservation, but no mention of it by the waitress. We ordered the white sangria pitcher. The waitress brought a very large pitcher of ice with a handful of fresh fruit and then poured a bottle of white wine over the ice. Within 5 minutes, we just had a large pitcher of watered down white wine - not very pleasing to say the least! The Moroccan Lamb was bland. The Barruta was a very large portion of cheese with one piece of bread. No one would ever eat that huge portion of cheese with only one piece of bread! So we were charged more for a few additional slices of bread. The Toasted Shrimp was good. We ordered an Italian Sausage pizza that was burnt on the bottom of the crust, plus it had practically no sauce - just meat, onion, and pepper flakes. The one good note (otherwise, I would have given a one star) - the waitress was very attentive and did a good job. For the money spent, this was a very poor dining experience. We will not be back. Too many other places in Greenville that have outstanding service and great food to waste my money on this.
Super impressed with the Lazy Goat...meal was fantastic, service was fantastic and the ambiance and view from the outdoor patio was really nice! I would definitely recommend and would return again, loved sharing plates with the table!
The Brussels sprouts were (as usual) great. It’s one of my favorite things from Lazy Goat. The Moroccan lamb was NOT acceptable. It had bones and gristle in it, which made it uneatable. I did ask the waiter to tell the chef so it did not happen again. I can not recommend it any longer. It was a major disappointment, with no apologies. Sad.
Taylor, our hostess, greeted us warmly and gave us the option of dining on the patio or taking a table with window view inside. Wow - what great options! Santiago, our server, did an excellent job - recommending selections and wine pairings, and he was attentive - checking in with us several times throughout the meal. The Greek salad was dressed nicely; we liked the choice of feta and olives. The sea bass and grouper were both fresh and well prepared. This time, the cheesecake was a little disappointing and not up to our Lazy Goat expectations. Oh, well! We do so enjoy dining at The Lazy Goat!
Went for my birthday. I was hungry for paella so I checked internet and found your l
restae recommended. The dish was very over-cooked to the point of being crunchy. It badw way too much salt. The Brussel sprouts were scorched. I did like the bread pudding which was more like a cold brownie. I think the bean sprouts on the top were hilarious.
Service was extremely slow. Probably they are understaffed. Was not busy, but took forever to get our food.
Always a great meal! They never disappoint.
We enjoyed our dinner here - the ambience is really fun and the menu is very different and fun. The only thing I would suggest - our drinks arrived after our appetizers. I prefer to have a drink and have the appetizers arrive no sooner than half way through our drinks.
We just moved to downtown Greenville and this was our first time to The Lazy Goat. Our appetizers, Brussels sprouts and burrata cheese were outstanding. We ordered Pizza for dinner. My husband was not disappointed. However, I ordered the Duck Duck Goat pizza because I wanting to try something I never had before. I now know I am not a fan of duck confit. But if you enjoy this protein, I am sure you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back to The Lazy Goat!
I was shocked when my lunch arrived. The 3oz piece of Salmon with a side of quinoa was $18! The service and ambiance was over the top awesome.
Great food, the only thing i would recommend is better communications among guest and staff. This place is extremely busy. IMG_1149.jpg
Our table was perfect. Window, river view. Server friendly. Spanish sparkling wine very good. Food only so so. The humus appetizer was tasty, but the paella was not. It listed clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, chorizo and chicken as ingredients. The rice was dry and the seafood completely overcooked, hot, dry and tastelesss. Probably left too long under the salamander. Couldn't find any chicken at all. If we went again (unlikely) we'd probably try the lamb dishes.
Interesting menu as always but with the new chef increasingly delicate. A real value. Consistently serve some of the best cheeses of any reastaurant in Greenville.
Outdoor patio was perfect, we went out to enjoy a relaxing birthday dinner for my girlfriend and we experienced just that. Service was great, food was quick, and the menu was fresh. Brussel's were great and the flank steak was cooked to perfection.
Service was outstanding and food arrived promptly. Food was very tasty - enjoyed the fried goat cheese and honey app. Also, had the mussels (app) as main course - were probably 30 mussels in the bowl, and very tasty. I don't drink so, did not try any cocktails.
The Sea Bass is good. Great taste- not "fishy". Nice views of river and downtown. Great outdoor area for dining
Tried out a dinner menu for restaurant week. Enjoyed the menu options suggested. Will definitely come back again!
We loved our overall dining experience at Lazy Goat. We went for Restaurant Week and the choices were great. We started with a Greek salad and the roasted Brussels sprouts with a balsamic glaze and cheese on top. The salad had waaayyyy too many olives and the brussell sprouts were good, but the cheese wasn't necessary. We got sea bass and pork loin for our entree. Both were delicious! My only complaint was that all of the food was too salty! The atmosphere is so great overlooking the Reedy. It's a must see for out of towners if only for a drink and appetizers!
I thought the food was good, not great. My Wagyu beef, while cooked perfectly medium rare, was very difficult to chew. My wife's sea bass was very good. Our waitress, Amanda, was excellent. And the ambience was terrific.
We had a pretty good experience here. The drinks from the downstairs bar were fantastic. Not sure the bartenders name but he was so friendly and recommended yummy drinks. We had a table outside and had fair service. The steak was okay, nothing special. The goat cheese bites were scrumptious! Brussels a little dry. Desserts were lovely!
The food was exceptional! The service was wonderful!
We have eaten at The Lazy Goat many times and went this week for Restaurant Week and a Birthday celebration. The service was just extremely slow and tough to watch all the tables around us (with a different server) get their food in a timely manner. We had much time in between courses, wine, refills, etc. Once our food did finally arrive, it was at room temperature and not warm or hot at all. We told our waiter and while he apologized, nothing was really said or done. Since it was a birthday dinner, I just hated we had this long drawn out experience that distracted from the celebration.
Just not a fan. The food was ok but not a fan. Service was great atmosphere was good the food not so good. I tired this place once before and we’ll thought it would’ve gotten better but no. This is my opinion only. The place has been around so there must be people out there that love it.
Great atmosphere eating on the outside veranda
Very pleasant dinner with slow service but it was very busy. Great patio.
Third or 4th visit. Always enjoy LG, but....We waited 10 minutes. Ten full minutes before a host saw and sat us.
Ordered the resturaunt week menu, and our main courses were brought out before we were have way done with our first course. Really? Why is no in monitoring this so courses are delivered at the proper time?
Food was good, but service and staff were very off and I hope LG reads these reviews to they will address these concerns.
We will read current reviews and look for improvement before we book another meal here. Greenville has too many excellent options to settle for less than attentive service.
