Great food. Amazing drinks. Loud atmosphere.
The Lawrence is where the Midtown locals go for really good food, an excellent bar and wine and old fashioned conversation. Tonight we started with an appetizer of fresh raw oysters served with a delicious Meuniere sauce. I enjoyed a moist and flavorful- Tuscan Airline chicken breast (I find that name completely offensive-who ever had a good piece of chicken on an airline!). The house made pickled vegetables were a fine complementary flavor. My partner ordered oxtail tagliatelle. The serving looked small when it arrived, but the richness of the oxtail meat and gravy created a very satisfying dish. We ordered a Bruleed cheesecake and a dark chocolate cream topped with a raspberry sauce. Both were very delicious and not-too-large. The chef has a wonderful gift of creativity with flavors. The Lawrence is always full...but service doesn't hurry the diners. Call for a reservation. Parking is available across the street. Go and enjoy!
I took a prospective employee to dinner on a Tuesday evening and we had to shout at one another to be heard across a table for two. The food was okay when it finally arrived, but we had to wait 15 minutes for a cocktail to arrive and another 45 minutes (with no check in from the wait staff) for the meal to arrive. It was a big disappointment, having had good experiences here previously.
Food overcooked. Drinks were good, but service not so good. Took a long time to get drinks and no check in about the food.
Good food. Fast service. Excellent attentiveness from staff.
Been there many times but took a group of 7 there Saturday night and it took an hour to get an entree. Was not even that crowded. Waiter was attentive but clearly there was a problem in the kitchen
Best burger I’ve had in years. The Larry sauce is very good. Service was excellent.
While this is not the first time we have been here, it had been a while since we came in, my fiancé and I came for dinner on New Years Eve. Every other time we have been here the food and service has been exceptional, except for this time, and I will give them the benefit of the doubt because it was New Years Eve. First, I was disappointed to learn the salmon chips were no longer on the menu, which was easily their best appetizer in my previous visits. Not sure if this was a new menu because of the NYE thing, but it used to be a staple for them. Next, our server was very inattentive, I think we saw him three times. Once to take our order, once to deliver the check, and once to bring my card back. The food took forever to arrive, and when it did show up, it was cold. The hostess had to bring our food out. They did not bring the wine pairing we ordered with our food either, so we had to wait even longer for that, again delivered by the hostess. When the wine did show up, I’m not even convinced it was the wine we ordered, it tasted like $6/bottle grocery store wine (was listed as $14/glass). At this point, I didn’t even care and just wanted to eat and get out ASAP. Really disappointed in the experience as I was so sure it would be a great restaurant for this occasion. Hopefully this night was an exception and not a new standard.
Too loud last night
Great neighborhood spot with a small but interesting menu of very solid dishes. Excellent cocktail bar and nice wine list. Loved the ricotta with fig jam and toast points, different and more delicious than I anticipated. I could probably make this my dinner. Roast chicken may seem like a shrug but the skin is golden, the meat very tender, and the saffron rice the perfect foil to soak up the juices. When the bar fills the space can be noisy so if you want to talk during dinner, ask for a spot away from the front area. Our favorite pre-theater/symphony spot.
Awesome service and great food!
Nice dinner after symphony. Liked the local neighborhood vibe. Limited menu, extensive wine and cocktail menu. Scallops were yummy. Friendly folk. If I’m in the neighborhood again, I’d probably drop in. Good date night spot
Food was very good, service was excellent. Overall very good but very loud.
The table we reserved was given away and we ended up having to sit in the center of the restaurant. The black female host was also quite rude when we asked why our table for 4 was given to the table of 3. This is unacceptable.
Best cocktails in midtown. Give the bartender a minute they really make sure your drink is made correctly. Food was great also
Costeel was awesome as always.
The food wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. Service was still great.
The Lawrence has a great bar and is a great location to meet friends for a drink. I used to enjoy dining there as well, but the past few times I have been I find myself disappointed at the either the service or the food or both. The menu has changed and I don't think it is for the better. I don't find the price of the entrees to be inline with the quality of the food.
Food, Service, and Ambiance were perfect for a casual yet nice evening. I'd say it is a great casual date spot or perfect for a comfortable setting with friends. The bar area appeared to be alive and enjoyable to grab dinner alone and perhaps even make a new friend.
The burger was excellent! Customer service was top notch and the drinks were on point! I will definitely return!
What Open Table describes as energetic was way too loud for me to converse w/ the 2 friends I came with. Despite the good food and service, we will not be returning to this restaurant because of the noise level.
Food was well prepared and very tasty, but portions were a bit smaller than expected for the price. Drinks were well done!
Food was great server was too soft spoken for noise level
Would go back
It took a really long time to get out drinks. Apps came out before drinks. Apps didn’t match description on menu and when I asked why the bread wasn’t served with the olives, It wasn’t well received. Like i should’ve known the menu was wrong?
Menu was summer-themed in November. Our chairs were pulled from the patio- very wobbly and not comfortable.
Overall good food and okay service but easy changes would have made it much more enjoyable.
I wish there were more entree options. The food was good but not as creative as I expected it to be. Great atmosphere and music. Service was good.
It took a while to get my food and my burger was charred.
Diamond in the rough. Great neighborhood location without all of the fanfare.
My sister and I took my 8 year old girl fir a night out. Our server was awesome. She was the only child there and he went out of his way to make her feel like a Princess. It was great. We will go back.
Friendly service, excellent food, but the crafted cocktails took a long time. We didn’t get our first round of drinks until after we had almost finished our appetizers and then ordered our second round and didn’t receive them till after we finished our meal. I have been here many times and this is the only time it has taken this long to gets drinks.
My wife and I were in town for a concert, and I had read The Lawrence was well regarded. The experience was great. The service was excellent while the meal was delicious. Heartily recommend to others
First time coming. It was close to the Fox Theater which is why we chose it. Service was great and the food was good but definitely won’t be going back. The portions were barely appetizer size. $33 for 3 scallops and a tablespoon of cream corn. Husband ordered the shrimp and got 5 with a tablespoon of couscous. We ordered 1 app, 4 entrees, 2 deserts and a few drinks and spent $280 and left feeling not satisfied. I’m a small person and don’t eat much and even this was too small a portion for me. Your husbands will leave starving. Food was great but too much money for the tiny amount you get. Be prepared to order TWO entrees if you don’t want to leave starving.
Awesome place! Felt like a local.
It's very noisy. Did I mention, it's very noisy? I struggled to hear my date across our small table, and no way I could hear most of what our server was saying. The food was tasty, but for the $$ I think the portions should be larger. It is convenient to the Fox, so if you go to see Wicked, this is a good choice.
I brought my 9 month old and our server never asked once if he needed anything and didn’t come back to our table for 30 minutes to see how we were doing. I did not feel welcomed here even though I have been here multiple times and love the food and beverages.
Ordered a Dewars scotch & water with a twist of lime. Server said ok. Brought the drink and it was not Dewars. Asked the server and he said they were out of Dewars and substituted another scotch. Turns out they don’t even carry Dewars and he didn’t just say that so I could order something else. Steak not cooked correctly. Expensive, loud and poor service.
Food portions were very small and items that I have loved in past visits have become smaller and changed but not in a good way. Service and ambiance is good. Cocktails are good. It is very loud inside though. I will unlikely go back and the Lawrence used to be one of my favorite restaurants in midtown.
Our waitress was excellent and was doing her very best to provide a great experience but the food just is not that good from beginning to end (dessert) … price is high, portion size small …
Good food. Lovely atmosphere. Waiting staff attentive. Will definitely recommend and would return if back in Atlanta.
Fantastic food! Great service! Nikki was great! Listen to her recommendations the fish dip was amazing!!! Fun drink menu. Will be going back!
Delicious food, wonderful service! Would love to return.
