The Lark pays homage to the history of California train travel and tributes the treasured and long gone Santa Barbara Fish Market, built in the 1920’s as a commercial fish processing plant, shipping their seafood products throughout the state by rail. With an imaginative yet approachable menu created by the gifted Jason Paluska, The Lark celebrates everything found around Santa Barbara County – wineries, farms, ocean and natural beauty. The stunning design strives to connect to the past and the future, using discovered objects from the past and blending them with modern, urban and industrial materials to spectacular effect.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara. The menu changes with the seasons, which is great because it gives you an excuse to come back (thankfully, the brusell sprouts never leave the menu - they very well could be the best in the world).

Fantastic share plates to delight all dietary needs, signature cocktails, and trendy (but not pretentious) atmosphere. An absolute must if you're a foodie looking for a place to eat in Santa Barbara.

We went for an anniversary dinner and had the best experience! They made us feel super special and the food and drink were so delicious! Our server, Danielle, helped us with some great recommendations for visiting the area too. Definitely recommend!

Always great! Have been many times for date night or just because. Romantic and fun. Amazing food and great servers that can help point you in the right direction to try something new. The outdoor seating is amazing and warm even on a cold night with the heaters and fire pits. They bring out the best popcorn to snack on while you pick a drink. There are options for everyone's taste....fish...beef...veggies...cheese. Nice to hang out in funk zone, get a nice meal, then go back out.

We had a great time . Waitress was very helpful with menu . Servings for entrees were a bit in the small side - my only complaint . Delicious food .

Enjoyable outdoor dining in an “on trend” bistro. Shared beet carpaccio, crispy duck wings confit and half iron pan roasted chicken. Plenty of food for two. Items and preparations are creative and savory. Service was excellent. This place is full every night. Appreciated the complementary valet parking, as the Funk Zone is crazy busy.

Great meal out to celebrate a birthday during a long weekend getaway. All of the food was delicious but the short ribs were amazing!

We went for dinner and were impressed. They encourage sharing which I love because everything we had was fantastic so we both got to sample all the flavours.
The beet carpaccio, the oysters with satsuma granita, the pork belly and the fritters.
We can’t wait to go again

We were excited to try this place. We were a little disappointed in our server, too hip maybe. He didn’t really check in much and he was hard to hear because of the noise level. We enjoyed the beef checks, but they were very rich. Not always a bad thing but for us a little too much. We think this is a great place for the younger hipster crowd!

We are here for the SB Film Fest. Also visited & ate here last year. I have to say - overrated. We were placed (although we had reservations) in the "confessional." My husband was literally wedged next to an antique confessional booth. The food was simply over the top, and I feel this is a restaurant that is known for the famous people who come here and not the food. A miss.

The indoor dining area was so loud I could not enjoy a conversation with my husband during dinner.

If you want entrees make sure to order items from the end of the menu. Our server only explained to us that the menu is more of a family style, but never told us that most of the menu was appetizer size. Also, some of the dishes were underwhelming so we are unsure why this place was rated so highly.

Food was well prepared, and service was not hurried. We really appreciated our server “Bill”, he suggested we dine family style to enjoy more flavors and enjoy each dish together. We will be back.
I would suggest the Brussels sprouts to start out the meal.

This was our fourth visit to The Lark and have always had a brilliant experience both from the food and the atmosphere.

This time things were perhaps not quite as good as before even though there were some exceptional dishes. Unfortunately one course was VERY slow in arriving so much so we asked for it to be removed from the bill which they did very politely and professionally.

Still a great overall experience and an interesting and diverse menu. Just maybe lost a bit of it’s early brilliance.
