About The Lambs Club - Bar
At The Lambs Club - Bar, Chef Geoffrey Zakarian has created a relaxed and inviting restaurant serving Afternoon Tea, full dinner menu, Pre Theatre dinner menu and bar snacks. The bar comfortably accommodates daytime meetings or refined cocktails in the evening with large round banquettes and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto 44th Street.

This landmark masterpiece was originally built and designed by Stanford White in 1905 and just reopened after a major renovation and restoration with every detail overseen by architect Thierry Despont.

If you decide to eat after Theatre, please know that the menu linked to the open table bar site is not available after 10pm. Only a snack menu is available. We showed up at 10:15pm, were asked if we would like a dinner menu or snack menu. We told them dinner. Once the waitress showed up, we were asked the same thing. She asked a passing chef what was available and he said the kitchen shut down dinner at ten. We settled and ordered snacks, which were delicious- Chicken wings, meatballs, roasted peppers. We will be back to try the early menu.
To wait for ONE HOUR for food to arrive after ordering it is ridiculous at a restaurant that seems to think it's first class. They simply couldn't handle the crowd they had. In future, they should shut the upstairs when they have a crowd beyond their abilities to serve them.
Our favorite go-to place in the Theater District!!
Geoffrey Zakarian's Lamb's Club is an oasis in the middle of the crazy, chaos of the Theater District. We have never had a bad meal here. From start to finish every course is delicious and inventive. We aren't usually desert eaters, but each of us ordered one and every desert was amazing!! We highly recommend the Lambs Club . . . even if just for a craft drink in their gorgeous upstairs bar!
Arrived for a pre-show 'knosh" and drinks and were seated promptly and comfortably!
Room was large enough to feel spacious and quiet enough for across the table / private conversation.
All-In-All, a FAB start to our theatre evening with great food and a nice wine selection!

We asked if we could hear more about the tasting menu. We were told the options, which included the tuna app, beet salad and filet, also a pre-dessert, and a main dessert. My husband asked if he could trade out the tuna for the oysters.
Server said that typically they will not, but she would ask. After a significant amount of time, she came back and asked if we had any questions about the menu ( She knew we were pre-theater, as she had asked us went we first sat down). We explained that yes, we did have a question about the tasting menu, and she remembered and then asked us if we both wanted to change, or just my husband. I indicated that I would go with the regular tasting menu, but if it was easier to accommodate my husband for the request, I would go with that. He also said that he would prefer the burrata instead of the beets at that time.
A while later, she came back, and said that the chef could change out my husband’s tuna and beets, and keep mine as the offered tasting menu.
His oysters, which were delicious, came out. Next came two orders of burrata. Where was my tuna? And beets?
She explained that they must have misunderstood and we were going to get the same menu after all. Ok, but where were my oysters? She said they must have included both servings on the one plate. OK – but that would have been nice to know, since now I didn’t have an app!
But next was really bad, because we asked if we could get going, since we were going to be late now. So another server apologized and quickly got us our meat course. Which came out as lamb. We were expecting filet? The second server apologized and said that she was sorry, the menu was always changing, the original server must have made a mistake.
I loved everything about the restaurant. However, the service triggered one of my pet peeves. We were into our meal and wanted a second glass of wine. Our server walked past our table several times and never acknowledged us. We finally asked a bus person to get our server. He didn’t come. Finally a floor manager saw my wife and realized that she wanted something. He immediately got our server. My demand for all restaurants is that every time a server walks through the restaurant he/she make eye contact with someone at each table they serve. That way if something is needed it can be addressed right away. Otherwise, the restaurant and our meal were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the jazz entertainment.
2nd time here. 1st time dinner was delicious. This time appetizers were all good but mains of fish and steak were not good. Fish was way over cooked and dry as a bone. Steak was nowhere near the quality it should have been for the price. Disappointing! May try again but not any time soon.
This was the second time for me at this restaurant.
First time just cocktails. They have a nice cocktail list and make nice drinks but overpriced by at least $4.00 per cocktail.
The food that we ordered was very tasty but the portion size was ridiculous. Spent over $200.00 for 2 people - appetizers, entrees and dessert. Left hungry and hit some theater candy at Hamilton..... what a show!!
We inadvertently booked the "bar" instead of the dining room, and turned out to be a good mistake. Food and service very good, and the atmosphere upstairs is very nice. An open, airy atmosphere, less stodgy than downstairs. Live jazz starting at @ 7pm. Very attentive service, food delicious.
Booked a table during restaurant week for a pre theatre dinner. Front of house staff were welcoming, however the extremely rude female waitress killed off any positive vibe as soon as she came to our table. We were told that we needed to allow a minimum of 30 minutes for each course of a 3 course dinner special. She then advised that she couldnt serve any food at all from the menu, took the menus away and replaced them with a snack/bar menu. We asked if we could order 2 courses instead but were told this was impossible. Could not believe why a commercial restaurant kitchen cant make 2 courses in 80 minutes???? Terrible experience
The Lamb's Club Bar has an airy and open feeling, well designed. Our restaurant week lunch was superb. I had the yellowfin tuna which was delicious and presented beautifully. It went so well with the warn seeded challah. My dining partner had the blood orange and kale salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. We both had the gnocetti which I was told is made fesh everyday. Fabulous. WE each had a different dessert: the swiss roll and the strawberry semi freddo. With espressos, it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Chef Zakarian showed his IronChef qualities for the restaurant week menu. (for the faint of heart, there was a fabulous hamburger and fries.) The highlight was the wine list If you are willing to be a little adventurous, you can enjoy some very fine little-known wines without mortgaging your home.'Especially because The Lamb's Club is in the theater district I know that I will be back often.
We left lunch so late, we were able to walk through the empty dining room downstairs and enjoy the mural and photos. I think, though, for dining I liked the environment upstairs better.
While I understand Manhattan, midtown restaurants will be pricey especially in the theatre district, and have been to many of them, I don't like gouging.
We had 2 martini's while waiting for my son. $49 + tip
a small bowl of Kale with a few pieces of fruit was $18.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
the entrees were good, not outstanding, and to top it off, I've never paid $7 for
a cup of regular coffee before.
Overall, the experience wasn't up to the price.
Went for restaurant week and wish we had gone somewhere else. I think the food is good, but the portions were so small it was hard to tell. I wouldn't recommend coming here on a restaurant week deal if you aren't planning on getting a few slices of pizza after you leave. Really turned me off to the whole restaurant and will not return. However, the service was excellent and the room was comfortable, despite the overhead speaker blaring 80's music.
Service was horrible and we were only one of three tables. Our waitress could not get an order straight, multiple returns to the kitchen, forgot to bring wine refill even after being reminded a couple of times. Certainly not what I am used to downstairs for lunch.
My husband I went to Lambs Club before seeing a play. Our server was excellent. She asked about any time constraints and made sure we had plenty of time. She recommended a wine that was excellent. Although the service was outstanding I felt the food was only okay. I am not sure I would go back.
Although lovely staff and ambience, the restaurant week menu is very weak and
entrees very small. Would not recommend going there for restaurant week . Perhaps the main menu is good , although very pricey , is a better choice.
Very disappointing . I do not usually comment if restaurant good but this was not up to my standards. Dining alone before theater i ordered a nice half bottle wine and lamb chops. They presented me with two very small and thin chops . Luckily i wasnt too hungry ! Server never came back for review only to give menu for dessert & check. Perhaps he was busy with table of couples ordering more drinks. Never was i more ignored . Would never recommend this place . Unfortunate because good location & atmosphere. But Geoffrey needs to work on his food choices & service. I am not a tourist .
This is the second time I've eaten here. The first time was lovely, so I returned for another pre-theater dinner. The food was still lovely, but the service was not. We had an 8:00 curtain a block away, so there should have been more than enough time. Three people asked if we were going to the theater and we told all three of them, which should have been adequate. We made no special requests and ordered very quickly off the pre-theater menu. Between six and seven we were served bread and our salad. By seven I was starting to get concerned that we would have to rush through the main course and dessert and yes, we had to rush through our main course and dessert. At 7:22 we were served dessert, but no silverware. Finally made eye contact with someone -- not our server -- who brought us spoons. Very good food, but rushed and inattentive service.
We were seated in the upstairs bar/restaurant at a terrible table in the corner but they did move us when we asked. I think our experience would have been better if we had sat downstairs. The initial service was slow and some (not all) of the staff had an attitude if you asked for something. I ordered the bibb lettuce salad and the leaves were still wet and the salad dressing couldn't stick to them. A below average effort. We both had the halibut which was good.
