About The Lake House
Perched directly above Lake Bonavista with large glass windows overlooking the lake, The Lake House is home to one of Calgary’s finest & most creative restaurants as well as a unique setting for private events & weddings. Exuding rustic elegance, the interior is illuminated with ornate elk antler chandeliers & a grand fireplace. Catching your eye when you enter is a glass encased wine cellar & a refurbished bar from the 1800’s, previously housed in a mercantile shop in Montana. Our wonderful location is complemented by Chef Thomas Neukom's celebrated Alberta Rocky Mountain cuisine. His offerings feature locally raised meats, game & vegetables from farmers & producers who share his vision for sustainable high quality & close to home cuisine. To augment Chef Neukom's Canadian focused cuisine, The Lake House provides a variety of wine from some of the world's top producers. Our passion extends to many regions of the world, as we have sought to find some of the world's best producers.

The Lake House Ratings and Reviews
The ambience and views are incredible. We were going to sample the food prior to booking the private room for a renewal of our vows party. Our waitress knew that and offered no assistance or food suggestions. The presentation of the food was great however the food was very bland. No real flavour. Very disappointed when paying that kind of money.
Overall, the food presentation was beautiful but flavours and service were a huge let down. Wine glasses and water glasses were left empty without anyone asking if we wanted a refill, no one came to check on how the food tasted and when we were finished eating, we sat with empty plates for 20 mins before anyone came over. Unfortunate that this is the quality we received at this upscale restaurant. Will not be returning.
The lady at the front misbehaved with us. Normally the restaurant give you call if you are getting late. They never called us, the moment we asked for our reservation she started misbehaving with us. Purposely she gave us a really bad seating. We were so cold we asked the server to change the table.
Later on that front lady again came to us without even asking us to move or giving any space she put the plate, it was so close to our face, when she was putting down the plate. It was the wrong order. We were just done with the appetizer and she gave us dessert. Later without apologizing she started saying things like we have changed the table no wonder she made the mistake. Than she went to two other table with the dessert and couldn’t find the right table.
When people go for a nice, fancy dinner and is willing to pay almost $200 a meal they don’t expect or want to go through this heat. If it was a everyday diner we would let go this behavior but not from a place like this, where you don’t just go for the food. You actually go there to celebrate the occasion, to have a nice time. With this kind of behavior it ends up ruining your mood and you end up regretting that why you are there.
They’re responsibility is not only to make sure they are putting the food on the table but also to make sure they are able to provide the right ambience.
This was a second visit for me, this time with my husband and daughter; very spur of the moment - we booked less than half an hour before. We shared the crab & leek croquettes to start, had quiche, burger and fish & chips for entrees - all the basics, but a notch above - delicious; followed by a shared sticky toffee pudding - again basic but delicious. Lovely bottle of Dog Point served at the perfect temperature. This restaurant is moving onto my favourites list. Thanks to all.
Always a pleasure. We have been patronizing this location for almost 30 years and it is even better now that the CRMR group has taken over. The menu is varied and there are options for all palates. The wine list is equally varied for those special occasions when a full bottle is in order. You can't beat the view right on beautiful Lake Bonavista ~ summer, winter and fall is lovely. Definitely a favourite with our family.
Had my wife, daughter, and 95 year old Mother-In-law. She ate her whole plate of French Toast, even though she said it was too much. Cold day and they had fireplace going, very cozy. Great staff, with patience for my Mother-in-law.
Eggs benedict was fantastic, but my wife got the dick confit croquettes, and we all said NEXT TIME THAT'S WHAT I'M ORDERING.
We went for a date and were pleasantly surprised by the range of choices on the menu.
Wine list had an array of selection and was very affordable.
All dishes were prepared perfectly, must have red seal experienced chefs.
Our waitress - Laura - was polite, so attentive and knowledgeable on all items in menu. Pleasure to be served by her.
Overall a great experience. Already recommended to other couples.
Another memorable experience at one of our favorite local places for a nice dinner. The food was exceptional as it usually is. The duck was the star of the evening this visit along with a rare Syrah that the somm suggested and it paired perfectly.
Once again we will be back. Keep up the great work!
Professional & friendly service, eye appealing & wonderful meals, plus our shared dessert. Did not feel rushed, so my friend & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you!
I will add that I was happy for the special of the day as I was a little disappointed with the lunch menu looking too similar to pub fare.
My guest and I went to The Lake House for lunch on a very cold winter weekday. We were greeted warmly, and the unique dining room lighting and gorgeous view of Lake Bonavista drew us into the dining room. Our servers were friendly and helpful, adding to our experience. The food was good, although my guest commented that she thought that the fries with her fish and chips were old. I enjoyed my soup and "quiche of the day" combination however I would have preferred to have had the soup served prior to the quiche, rather than plated together. By the time I got to eating my quiche, it was only lukewarm. We chose not to have dessert as tempting as the dessert menu was, as the entree portions are generous and we were nicely satisfied. Cappuccino was a delicious end to the meal. It was nicely busy at the restaurant, but the atmosphere was calm and sophisticated but not stuffy. The view of the snow and frozen lake, with sunshine beaming into the room enhanced what was a lovely lunch. I look forward to returning.
The menu is always creative and unique and the chefs prepare each meal wonderfully. I’ve always been impressed with the service and the food at Lake House each time we go.
We have dined as a couple and with our children here as they have a kids menu and high chairs available should you need them. The ambience is lovely. It was a little noisy this time, but it was a Friday evening and since we had our children with us, we were grateful for the extra chatter so we weren’t the noisy table. Save room for dessert - the peanut butter chocolate tart is to die for.
This was our fist time trying The Lake House and we enjoyed our evening very much and we would definitely recommend it as well as come back ourselves. I did find it expensive however, it was New Years Eve and everything is more expensive on this night. Food was amazing, everything was so flavourful and blended so well together. Having the set 5 course meal forced us to try foods we would never have ordered and we were pleasantly surprised. Thank you for a great night!
Overall 4 star dining experience Service was exceptional. Ambience was good, a bit noisy but then it’s New Years and the restaurant was very busy. It was a multicourse dinner with most courses good except the soup course was cool and the desert very mediocre. Price was $100 per person plus beverages which was expensive considering value.
