The Lake House Ratings and Reviews
We went out for my husbands birthday. We had a seat by the window which was beautiful and serene and romantic. My only issue was the menu which included mostly shellfish such as lobster, crab and shrimp. Since I have a severe shellfish allergy, there was little to choose from. However, our wonderful server kept checking to make sure that my stuffed chicken would be cooked separately to eliminate contamination.
My sons wedding was at Lakehouse 2 years ago and we could not have asked for better service, food and location. It was perfect. We had Arctic char, beef and a vegetable choice.
our server was attentive and friendly and engaging. It was a 65th and the dessert had Happy Birthday on a delicious slab of chocolate. Requested and received a window table. Uniquely, they had some Pappy bourbon, inherited from a now closed restaurant. being 65 and finishing the heel of a 23yr old Pappy was special. Three of us had the Rib eye, and I had the Arctic Car with scallops. Everybody enjoyed the ribeye, and I was pleased with my choice (usually a steak guy) and best of all the meals arrived hot. The Sommelier was on his game with a great selection.
Wonderful atmosphere with class and great service. Staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. The food was delicious and the right amount. Not overflowing like some places that make up for the taste by giving you too much. it is on the expensive side but this is a very classy restaurant and will return multiple times.
The food was excellent and overall we really enjoyed the experience. There were a couple of large groups, so it was quite loud and it's dark too early these days to take advantage of the view, so ambiance wasn't as good as it can be. It's fairly pricey, but I'd say that the food was worth it!
Wanted the ambience for Sunday Brunch, celebrating my friend's 70th birthday. Advice - arrive when they open or arrive after 1:00 pm, so you can get the tables with an unobstructed view. I asked for one on my reservation for 11:00, and they couldn't deliver. My friend only turns 70 once, so that was a bit of a disappointment.
Food was OK, but I actually expected better based on reviews by other friends who eat here as often as their budgets allow. I'd go back, but I'd try something other than the mixed grill. The tenderloin was superb; the rest was blah.
The service was close to faultless - which made up for much of the other misses on this visit. The wine menu seemed a little limited, but everything we tried (3 kinds) were delicious, so it obviously has what you need.
The peanut butter dessert item was yummy, but the pumpkin creme brulee just wasn't creamy enough. If you've had any of the brulee at the Petroleum Club (perfection), skip this one, because you'll be disappointed.
So it passes because of charm and service, but I can't wax poetic over the actual food. We'd have loved to be able to stroll around afterwards, but the lake is closed to outsiders. Also, with more than half the tables full, the noise level was substantial - no quiet conversations here. They really need some sound busting features up in those rafters.
Dinner and service was fantastic. Worth the drive. We loved the Lobster Agnolotti, and the Rocky Mountain Charcuterie Board. The Stuffed Chicken Supreme and the Grilled Angus Beef Ribeye were cooked perfectly, the chicken was nice and juicy, the steak was a perfect medium rare. For dessert the Sticky Toffee pudding was perfect for two and was lovely. The personalized chocolate with Happy Anniversary was a special surprise. A wonderful food experience, atmosphere was perfect for our date.
Good quality food, obviously the location is really nice. We tried it out for their Sunday brunch. I think for us because we don't eat pork we found the options to be limited because most dishes did have some pork in it. I had the cinnamon bun french toast which was pretty good. Husband had the fried buttermilk chicken which he said was good too. The food didn't blow my mind or anything though so found it to be a tad pricy.
Food was really good and the service excellent. Went for Brunch on Sunday and I was a bit disappointed about the lack of bacon and eggs for breakfast but had the Grilled Beef Tenderloin Oxtail, Spinach & Mushroom Ragu, Potato Waffle, Poached Egg, Horseradish Hollandaise and I would go back.
We reserved a table for 4 requested table by the window to celebrate my 65th birthday. Restaurant called to inform main dining not available due to corporate booking. We were seated in side room at interior table. Low ceiling, noisy, uncomfortable hard chairs. Food was very good however. Service was fine. Just not the pleasant evening we looked forward to seeing that we had booked well ahead.
We’ve been here quite a few times, both for brunch and dinner, and I don’t think we will be back. Our food was so mediocre this time. Flavours were great but poor execution led to disappointment from 3/4 of our table. Over cooked steak, over cooked eggs. I expect this from a pub brunch, but not from this place. With many options in the city, we will likely go to our usual favourites instead of convincing ourselves that this place will get better.
