Our wonderful location is complemented by Chef Thomas Neukom's celebrated Alberta Rocky Mountain cuisine. His offerings feature locally raised meats, game & vegetables from farmers & producers who share his vision for sustainable high quality & close to home cuisine. To augment Chef Neukom's Canadian focused cuisine, The Lake House provides a variety of wine from some of the world's top producers. The Lake House Ratings and Reviews
Good quality food, obviously the location is really nice. We tried it out for their Sunday brunch. I think for us because we don't eat pork we found the options to be limited because most dishes did have some pork in it. I had the cinnamon bun french toast which was pretty good. Husband had the fried buttermilk chicken which he said was good too. The food didn't blow my mind or anything though so found it to be a tad pricy.
Food was really good and the service excellent. Went for Brunch on Sunday and I was a bit disappointed about the lack of bacon and eggs for breakfast but had the Grilled Beef Tenderloin Oxtail, Spinach & Mushroom Ragu, Potato Waffle, Poached Egg, Horseradish Hollandaise and I would go back.
We reserved a table for 4 requested table by the window to celebrate my 65th birthday. Restaurant called to inform main dining not available due to corporate booking. We were seated in side room at interior table. Low ceiling, noisy, uncomfortable hard chairs. Food was very good however. Service was fine. Just not the pleasant evening we looked forward to seeing that we had booked well ahead.
We’ve been here quite a few times, both for brunch and dinner, and I don’t think we will be back. Our food was so mediocre this time. Flavours were great but poor execution led to disappointment from 3/4 of our table. Over cooked steak, over cooked eggs. I expect this from a pub brunch, but not from this place. With many options in the city, we will likely go to our usual favourites instead of convincing ourselves that this place will get better.
We sat on the patio and it was beautiful. Honestly one of the nicest setting i have ever eaten at in Calgary. Nice calm warm night sitting right over top of the lake. No lights though once it got a little dark which i thought was a little odd. Steak was cooked perfectly but pretty fatty. Would definitely come back again for the ambiance but at the price the food was average.
Celebrated my partner's birthday here. We live in the neighbourhood but had never been, due to its bad reputation before it changed name and owners. The food was delicious and we got there to watch the sunset over the Lake. Cocktails were also great. We had a great overall experience, pricey but worth it. Our only observation was that if we hadn't shared our plates, the meal itself would have been plain, no sides are served with them.
Friendly greeting upon arrival, and shown to our table (with a view) almost immediately. I like the still/sparkling water service. We were certainly attended to continuously, and in a very professional and friendly manner by all the staff!
The food was amazing. We were lucky to have a seat by the window and the view was spectacular especially with the sunsetting. The food was amazing, everything was delicious. We had the peach salad and mussels to start. Our main course entrees were a scallop dish with an exquisite citrus sauce and crunchy crabcakes and a rib eye dish that was cool to medium rare perfection with a side of au gratin that took me by surprise by how good it was. Finally desert, we had the blackberry pistachio semifreddo which was something new and turned out to be a nice way to end our meal. To top it all off the service throughout our evening was the best I've had in a while. I will be back!
