Eating here was a hot mess. Started with the host who wouldn’t look up at me. He then said under his breath that I would have to wait an hour after telling him I had a reservation. I asked him to repeat himself as I didn’t fully hear him and another stepped in and said I would have to wait an hour. I said again, but I have a reservation. They found me a table outside. It was extremely HOT as the heater was blowing full blast. I asked for the heat to be tuned off as it was extremely uncomfortable. She said she couldn’t but opened a window (another customer got up and closed it *eye roll*) Heater was eventually turned off after complaints from others. Total lack of friendliness from waitress. Food was underwhelming for the cost. I was friendly and polite the entire time but wanted to scream inside. 🙄 Will not return.
I've gone to the Knickerbocker Hotel for brunch many times over 2 decades. Food was always excellent and service always great. I love their corned beef hash! Plus they have gluten free toast. We liked eating out on their patio/sunroom.
We had a 7 o’clock reservation and we walked in 10min to and the host hardly greeted us and just kind of said “uhhh this is our only table” and it was in the middle of hustle and bustle and not even set. Our waiter was friendly but hardly checked in on us. Our food was good/okay. Nothing to rave about. Our menus were dirty with food and stains on them. Didn’t seem very clean at all. Don’t recommend and probably won’t go back. Just very unwelcoming. Almost walked out before ordering food.
Consistent food and service I was a pleasure to die in here particularly during this tough period of time
Great cocktails, great food, great dessert, great service!
We sat in the outdoor/ patio area which was nice and toasty with the heaters going. And it wasn’t as crowded as the main part of the restaurant so that was a plus. Great service and great meal.
The atmosphere was lacking, but the food was quite good for lunch. We had a patty-melt and a salad. Maybe eating outside in the summertime would provide a nicer atmosphere, as the inside was mediocre and uninviting. Pretty much no ambiance to draw me back there. If they would make it cozy, warm, and attractive I would reconsider.
Overall wasn’t a bad dining experience burger was really good
Good service and good food overall. Would recommend.
I understand COVID is putting a clamp on what's normal for the restaurant business. But when I make a reservation for your well-furnished restaurant, I expect to be seated at a table that qualifies as such. That was not the case for the anniversary dinner my partner and I attempted to enjoy last Saturday night. Upon arrival, after giving the time and name for my reservation, I was told the only tables available were "outside" in their enclosed patio. Thankfully the space was heated, but being seated outside the restaurant on plastic-covered metal chairs was a far cry from the ambience we expected to enjoy while dining. For the price you're paying to eat the (admittedly excellent) food, taking a reservation to seat someone outside your walls is poor service.
Happy was great! Wonderful value and service was very attentive.
The food was great and our server was very sweet, but the service was horrible. The amount of time it took to order our drinks, receive our drinks and order our food was disappointing. I love dining at the Knick, so I am hoping we caught them on a bad day.
In these times of Covid-19, it was wonderful to be able to dine out at the Knick. We sat out on the enclosed porch with space heaters overhead. It was very cozy. Our service was excellent and the food was very good, as always. Ambience was fun, considering that it is winter and with the pandemic, things have to be a certain way. We were very happy and plan to return soon.
Excellent lunch -- wonderful service -- always enjoy meeting at 'The Knick.'
Ambience and food was good; honestly my experience would have been much better if our waitress was more formal and professional. She was odd about bringing a new drink (the one I ordered I did not like and asked for it changed politely and if possible) but did and then seemed to avoid our table the rest of the night. Over explained a lot such as workplace drama and policies instead of "let me check." What was the most off putting was when she asked if we wanted our dessert to go...? Which to me translates to get the heck out. Then pulled out our forks for dessert and handed them to us to take from her hands, not set them..... on the table? She almost poked my eye. I wouldn't even expect this service at Applebee's but especially not a formal nice restaurant. I would maybe come back to sit at the bar but it's not worth dining here if it means getting this service again. I will be telling others to stay away.
The selection on the menu was great. Our party of 7 found someing we each enjoyed. Pricing was good. Happy hour drinks were priced right and delicious. Our server was a missing at a couple key moments. It was a birthday and she didnt bring an item back to the table we asked for. Otherwise, it was a nice dinner experience
Overall it was a good experience however the service wasn't very good. Very slow and I think we had other servers check in on us more than our actual server. Food was great though and all in all it was a good time
While this restaurant has been around for quite a while, I still consider it a hidden gem because people often forget about it. I love the atmosphere, lighting is soothing, people are always nice and service is efficient. The food is consistent and always very good. Salads are unmatched in the Milwaukee area in my opinion. Portions are large and quality is very good. If you haven’t visited in a while, you should make it a point to stop in!
Food was great, service was great, and overall experience was great.
The Knick has never once failed to meet my expectations or desire for a delicious and comfortable brunch, lunch, or dinner. Unbelievable, every time, every occasion. Robust menu, great food, exceptional happy hour, and accountable service. Chillin', datin', pre-gamin', The Knick accommodates and does it with proper class. Well done!
sat outside in heated patio. Temperature was warm and tables were far enough away. Food arrived in 15 minutes. Server was good
Seated near people that didn't wear masks
Nice variety on the menu with great presentation and excellent taste
I really appreciated the heated, outdoor patio. I had the goat cheese omelette for Sunday Brunch, which I highly recommend. Our server, Cassie, was personable, knowledgeable and fun. I will come here again.
The atmosphere was nice, the waitress wore her mask properly the entire time, my meal was delicious. All around a great experience.
Loved The Knick! Eric was our bartender and he gave outstanding service, very prompt and efficient and made my birthday evening so much fun!
Gem near the art museum. Our party is five had New Year's Day brunch and everything was spectacular... from the beverages to the meals to the service. Banana Bread French Toast and the Chorizo Biscuits and Gravy were standouts.
This was our second year in a row celebrating NYE at The Knick hotel. Because of covid, we decided to stay in and get dinner at the hotel. We both ordered NY strips & they were amazing! We kept talking about how good our meal was the next day. Our server was great & down to earth. We will be back! ♥️
Made a reservation and a table wasn’t even ready at 8:30pm. No point in making a reservation. Waited till 9:15 and just ate at the bar instead. Pretty sure both hosts forgot that we even checked in/ about us because I saw two tables open up at 9 and they didn’t approach us at all to seat us.
Had a lovely evening on New Year’s Eve - not only was the service excellent and the food delicious, all the COVID precautions were in place and we’re so glad we went there!
The food was delicious, seating was quick, and the service was good!
Came in for my friends birthday and had a wonderful time
Poor, crabby service. Too bad - otherwise would have been good.
Superb experience! The Knick has a classic vibe with a modern twist that is welcomed by all diners. The drinks, the food and service were too rate. Absolutely recommend The Knick for your next dining experience!
Knick Never Disappoints. Repeat dinner and each occasion was delightful, service attentive, the food is thoughtfully prepared, reasonable priced too! Local, neighborhood place frequented by many. If visiting the art museum or local galleries, give this place a try.
Consistently great food, awesome service. Never too busy. The ambiance is classy but casual - perfect for brunch with the squad or a date night with bae.
Love the patio and location; Happy hour is a great value
Beautiful, creative meals
Outstanding location and environment
Friendly, attentive staff
Food and setting were wonderful.
Great location -- good food -- great service. Especially nice when outdoor dining is available. Will return.
