Welcome to The Kirkland Tap & Trotter! Our food is simple, hearty and approachable. It is how Chef Maws cooks at home for friends and family. At the center of the kitchen is our hardwood grill where you can find us cooking up any of our options to share as well as other grilled fare. Tony has designed an affordable menu, making it easy to eat here often. Keeping with the theme of The Kirkland Tap & Trotter being an every-night-of-the-week establishment, beverage choices will also be representative of things we like to drink. We invite you to drop by after work to try something from our expansive beer list, a straightforward and delicious cocktail, or one of our many wines by the glass with our usual preference toward wines with a bit of funk. We’re open for dinner seven days a week.

I dined here with a party of 5 adults plus 2 toddlers. We walked in at 10:00 am and it was clear from the beginning that the staff was not prepared/ready for service. After being seated for our reservation we waited several minutes for menus, then had to ask the hostess for some after it appeared we were forgotten (?). One server started covering our table's drink order when our actual server (?) showed up for his shift then took over. From there each member of my party slowly received their food, one plate at a time. We didn't eat as a group. Our food was staggered so that the first 3 people received and finished their food before the last 2 people received their order. There was no acknowledgement or apology by staff member. What is most frustrating, is we were dining with toddlers so we just wanted to eat and gtfo. Food was decent. Some people were happier with their order than others but the poor service was inexcusable.

Post marathon meal. Great food. Service was inconsistent but ok. Thanks for the warm, dry welcome after a freezing cold, wet day out.

The timing of the meal was off. Initial drinks arrived 15 after ordered and after appetizers arrived. Main dishes arrived while we were still eating our salads. Portions of the meal were small.

My husband and I sat at the chef's bar area this weekend. Our waiter (Chris, I think) was attentive and brought over the sommelier and she recommended a tasty and very reasonably priced red. I do regret not getting dessert because they looked amazing! The burger was very good and not huge and overwhelming to eat (which is a big plus in my book - no one wants to look like an idiot eating their meal and when a burger is enormous, you look like an idiot, trust me). The hub got the half chicken and the sweet potato mash was amazing. This wasn't our first time but it had been awhile and we will be back. Thanks for making our night great!

We had a fantastic birthday dinner. The food was delicious and creative (but not weird) and the service was super fast. My only complaint is that the sound level was pretty high (Friday night) and we were seated 6 at a circular table. Next time I would ask for a rectangular arrangement in the back. Otherwise it was just perfect!

We went there as a group of ten for my husband'a birthday. The ambience and service was great, and we all loved the cocktails. The food was average to good, similar to the quality of other places in Boston. We enjoyed ourselves and will return.

Server great. Food good. Could have done without loud metal music though apparently selected for ambiance. Maybe boss was away😀

I’ve wanted to try this place for a bit. It was packed when I got there, which only further built anticipation. Ordered the bone marrow; it came with an overwhelmingly dressed salad. Then the half-chicken. Great flavor but a lot of red as I cut into it. My friend ordered the ribeye; while cooked to med, it was super tough because of all the nerves. (Guys, you might need another butcher). Waitress was fine, although no super attentive. Considering the cost, the quality, and all the options in the Sq, I doubt I’ll return.

We were a group of seven and were seated well ahead of our reservation time (very good for 7pm). The food was very good. One mistake in placing the order resulted in a dish coming out late, but they didn’t charge for that dish (again, nice job)! The casual atmosphere was nice and the server was great. I would eat here again.

I went for brunch and the Shrimp and eggs was delicious. My boyfriend got the corned beef hash, which was also delicious and the coffee was exceptional. The portion sizes were perfect and not too big.

KT&T never disappoints. The entree menu is not just inventive and interesting, but very well-priced. At our table, we had a roast chicken, steak kebabs, swordfish kebabs and a lamb burger, and they were all priced between $20 and $23. Two salads - an utterly delicious kale salad on the regular menu, and a specials salad with radicchio and orange - were a bit pricey ($15, $14, respectively), but very generous and exceptionally fresh and creative. Without wine, four of us would have dined for about $120, which (to me) is a deal for a wonderfully prepared meal with very fresh, often local ingredients. It's not a fine dining experience, with loud-ish music lending a pubby feel to the place, but it is categorically fine dining from a food prep and quality perspective.

Always love the Tap & Trotter. Our favorite seats are the high-top tables nearest the kitchen so you can see the food on the grill and watch all the action back there. Was there with friends to celebrate a birthday. Service is outstanding, as has consistently been the case over many visits. Great food and wonderful cocktails.

Only one blemish on the evening... One of our burgers on this visit was undercooked (hadn't been an issue before) so we pointed it out and they threw it back on the grill. Was still a bit undercooked even when we got it back and ate until getting to the center - which we pointed out again. They were professional and apologized for the trouble. They comp'd the burger and dessert for the table (4 of us). Certainly appreciated. We'll absolutely go again (only be a little more careful in how we order the burger).

Lots of inconsistencies. One bartender was approachable, the other not at all. Gin and tonic served in a tall glass with a straw from one, served in a rocks glass by the other. Ramen served without chopsticks or even a fork... pork ribs tough... etc. etc

Overall enjoyed the restaurant as it had a great vibe, great mix of music and people watching, fun bar and food was overall good to very good. Only problem was a large percentage of menu items were no longer available by the time our party ordered which was only 8:30p. This was especially frustrating given a more limited menu to begin with.

Our waiter Joey was attentive and very nice . The menu had a great variety however the portions were not enough for one with a big appetite . My vegetarian entree had lot of flavor and filling . Our appetizers of side vegetables were tasty but a little oily Next time I would ask for less oil .

Loved this place! The food is incredible. Everything we ate was delicious - esp the combo of the Kale & Apple Salad and Rye Macaroni. And you have to get the dessert as well! Ice cream sandwich was to die for.

Tap and Trotter was the best restaurant I’d eaten at in all of 2017 and it lived up to the memory. Absolutely amazing. As usual we ordered more food than needed but it was delicious and we still found room for desert which blew us away.

I thought the food and ambiance was great. I got the sirloin skewers with sweet potato mash and my husband got the lamb burger with fried pickles and all were delicious. I felt confident that everything I ordered would have been great. Solid cocktail, wine and beer list as well. The desserts looked amazing and unique.

We came here the Tuesday before Valentine's day to celebrate our recent engagement and loved everything! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and patient with us while we hung out for almost 3 hours. The food was phenomenal, and we really enjoyed sitting at the counter and watching the kitchen. We will definitely be back! We were also very impressed with the wine selection !

A very good brunch menu and everything was very tasty! I highly recommend getting the donut! Unfortunately for us we were early so no alcohol sales on Sunday before 11AM (worth noting as the menu looked tasty) but the food, service, and ambiance were all fantastic. I would definitely hit this place up again for dinner to see what they have to offer. The entire place has the yummy smoky smell about it from the meats and I can only imagine what tasty vittles await on the dinner menu!

What a cozy spot - when in Cambridge this is our go-to. We had tasty cocktails and so much delicious food here - coffee-rubbed carrots, house-made sausage, salad, chicken & tofu broth bowl. The rice bowl was disappointing. Ask to be seated away from the door during the winter months.

i think the carrots would be better without the white sauce and crunchy bits. I've had this dish 4 times.

the bone marrow is tops! i may have even eaten the garnish if that radicchio was a garnish.

the staff are cheery, kind and professional.

Thank you as always for a wonderful dining experience.
