My husband and I were there with our 3 grandchildren, ages 7,6, and 4. It took a very long time to place our order - and over 45 minutes to have it delivered to our table - she kept coming saying, "Your meal will be right out"... the kids had hotdogs and pasta, we just had a hamburg and sausage plate... there is NO way this should have taken sol ong - it was agonizing... service was worse than Friendly's which we try to avoid.
Me and my husband went to KT&T for a nice romantic dinner. The food selection was great. I eat GF and dairy free and had a lot of options to choose from (including a delicious cider selection). It was pretty busy so it was on the noisy side but nothing out of the norm for a Saturday night in my opinion. The staff was great and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the Kale salad (hold the cheese) and the swordfish and my hubby had the wings and the soup/broth/ramen dish they had as a special. He had a cocktail that he loved too while I had a yummy cider. Overall great experience, we will definitely be back!
Great with food allergies!
The food was very uneven- some dishes quite tasty, some not so great. Our server was lovely and the space had a nice casual Somerville vibe. Not sure if I would recommend it, however.
Our waitress was lovely. Our food was delicious!
The swordfish skewer was a bit salty but the fish was cooked to perfection.
The broth bowl was yummy as ever though a little different this time. Way heavier than a pho broth but I enjoy it.
Thank you for another really great dining experience at KT&T!
This a great place to meet friends for dinner. Great beer selections and the wine list is also very pleasing. Always a positive experience with great tasting food. Loved the Kale salad, Fried pork ribs is totally mouthwatering. Wings are unusual but very flavorful. We will come back.
I requested a regular table but got a high top that was too large for our group, I would not go again if I had to sit at that table. No accommodation was made for my request, and our dining experience really suffered.
Tasty food, great service. My friends and I had a great night!
Maybe it was an off night but it took 40 minutes for our food to arrive. They took the price of one entree off our party of three as compensation. However the food is overpriced for what you get. The burger is an average pub burger for $17! I'd rather get three shake shack burgers for that price. We also ordered the Korean style rice bowl and added the crispy pork belly for an additional $6- which gets you one small overcooked piece of pork. What? Nice ambiance for a beer and snack will avoid for dinner.
Enjoyed this gastropub. The food was interesting and high quality. The beer selection was very good along with the liquor selection. Also particularly enjoyed ice cream sandwich and coffee whiskey.
Food was good but somewhat overpriced. Service was erratic and slow.
The only reason I came back to this restaurant is because the last time I was there the service was so terrible the gave us a gift certificate for another visit. This time the service wasn’t as bad but it was still not good. Our waiter barely paid attention to us the whole time and we had to pour our own glasses of wine. For appetizer we had the squash salad which was amazing and so tasty. For entrees we had the half chicken and the pasta dish which were both tasty.
Great last minute dinner at the bar with Rob the bartender. Great food recommendations and hand made cocktails customized. Great spot.
Great meal as always. Server's recommendations were spot on.
it was a pleasant experience with reasonable, creative dishes
We eat at the tap and Trotter a lot. It's on the top of our list if friends are visiting from out of town and want a casual dinner. Food was great, as per usual. Unfortunately our waitress spilled leftover drinks on my sandals when she was cleaning up. It was quite a lot of liquid and ended up messing up my suede sandal. Fine. Whatever. Material things, right? Would it have been nice to get our dessert comped? Yeah.
Great food. Highly recommended.
Sat right in front of the head chef and it was very cool to eat his creations while chatting with him. The only downfall of that seat was the open pit fire a few yards away., although it smelled magical, I was sweating bullets haha. But it did not inhibit our great experience! Highly recommend the starter fried pork ribs, crunchy, fall off the bone, fat dissolving goodness right there. There is care in each plate and it shows. With a 44$ bottle of wine, a starter, an additional side, and 2x large entrees the check was shy of 150$. This place is a treat and a value rolled into one. Honorable mention goes to the Fire Ginger Beer (non-alcholic but I'm sure they can change that). Thanks KT&T team, keep up the good work!
We took my parents here when they were in town and we all had a great meal. Our server was exceptionally friendly and our food was delicious. We had the crispy ribs and the hummus to start (must ask for extra flatbread with the hummus), and for sharing mains we had the shortribs, the 1/2 chicken and the linguinca sausage. The crowd favorite was the chicken, though our waiter told us there were only 2 left when we ordered it around 8:30, so try to snag one before they run out!
Came for my birthday dinner - our server was new and got really confused over menu items . allergy restrictions, and sizes. Orders were taken in a haphazard manner and not by seat number, which I would usually let slide, but this is a Tony Maws restaurant and you are paying a premium for that name - excellent service is to be expected. I ordered the grilled shortribs ($22) that purportedly came with vegetables. What I received was two thin shortrib racks with about 3 turnips and half a carrot. Cocktails and wine were tasty, but bar service appeared to be slow as well, as a glass of wine ordered at the start of my entree didn't come until 5 minutes after I had finished. Overall, my friends and I had a nice time - but we received much warmer and more rapid service in the packed Trina's Starlight Lounge where we headed after for cocktails and pie. This is a place to go at least once to see if you like it. Nothing seemed particularly exciting or even particularly well executed. I would got back for the bar and snacks.
good food just was expecting it to be as good as his other place.
Granted that we ate there on a Saturday night and acknowledging that we have pretty high expectations (but also that we eat out a fair amount), on balance this was not a fantastic experience.
Our server was wound up which initially came off as enthusiastic, but eventually it felt like she was annoyed with us in addition to being just generally overwhelmed. The effect was less-than-relaxing.
The kitchen was running out of things fast and furious and they were too cool to put a candle in my dessert (so they sent it in a shot glass).
Food all tasted fine. Some mashed sweet potatoes with miso were the highlight. But nothing knocked our socks off.
Company was good -- but I can take them elsewhere!
Attentive staff. Terrific food. Loved the fried rib appetizer. No problem hearing others at the table. Will certainly go back again.
Was not in love with the food or the cocktails -- too much going on with ingredients which weren't always prepared nicely.
Two of us shared a salad and some outrageous roasted carrots; each had a kebab. Everything was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Wine by the glass was good and fairly priced. Our server was helpful and enthusiastic. We'll be back--with friends.
Yummy easy to share food w. great service! We got a number of the meat kebabs and vegetables sides. The steak, spaghetti squash, carrots and brussel sprouts were delicious.
Always great. One of my favorites
Kirkland T&T is one of our go-to's for a casual night out with outstanding food. The food never disappoints and the cocktails are creative, all served in a relaxed atmosphere.
Had a great meal on a quiet Tuesday night with friends. Food and craft beer were generally great (see below) and its a casual place with an upscale vibe and price point. Our waiter seemed to be a bit out of it because he was not very informed and quite inattentive- the restaurant was not busy. That, for me, was more the exception than the rule though as this is my third or fourth time here and the only time the waiter or bartender wasn't great! On the food, most was great including the appetizers and sides. But since I was there last time they have added kabobs and I had the swordfish kebabs as an entree. It was $17 but it was really a $17 delicious appetizer; a really small portion. On the other hand, the half chicken and the veggie bowl were real entrees. The waiter might have said something or the menu should be clearer. Still, I like this restaurant and will be back!
Disappointed with the menu at KTT - very few choices, awkward sized small plates, and "main" dishes that feel incomplete. I enjoyed the vibe here but have tried it twice since the approach to the menu shifted and it doesn't work for me. It feels chintzy and ungenerous now. Wait staff also not very hospitable. Still like the feel of the room.
Another wonderful Tony Maws restaurant. I am always amazed how his food can be so perfectly cooked. My wife and I over-ordered, deliberately, because we want to sample the different dishes on his menu. We had the black-ink pasta with mussels, blue fish, beef on a kebab, half chicken and a couple of vegetable dishes. We ended up doggy-bagged 1/2 of our food to take home as the portions are surprisingly big for the price so it is a good value as well. It is a lively and casual, neighborhood restaurant and it is nice to see many kids eating there. Our waitress was bubbly and we had a couple of fun chats. The service is as good if not better than many of the so-called upscale restaurants in Boston. Will come again definitely with my family.
The food was great, as always, and the servers very accommodating of having to manage two babies in a stroller. Highly recommend the burger and the coffee-ancho rubbed carrots
Second time dining at this restaurant, first time was several years ago and quite excellent. Unfortunately, the opposite was true this past Saturday. Service was slow and inattentive. Food was uninspiring. Perhaps the worse part was that for a restaurant with such a small menu, to be out of several options (including cocktails!) at 8:30 on a Saturday night smacks of a lack of planning---or caring. It seems like Tony Maws has given up on this spot.
Really loved the food and sharing small plates! Also great beer selection
Requested to be seated at a table on Open Table, but were seated at the bar right in front of the open kitchen. We saw some things we didn't want to (please dont eat the ribs you're preparing! At least wash your hands afterwards!) and the noise level was very high in that part of the restaurant.
Fabulous all around.
Even better than last visit thanks to the music being moderate this time. We could actually talk with our friends as well as enjoy the food. The food was indeed very good. A bit skimpy on the fries for the price paid, but we enjoyed the fried pork again, the sirloin tips and swordfish, and the fabulous ice cream sandwich dessert. Good job!
Went for brunch on a Sunday. Food was very good as was service but quite typical for a Boston brunch. Nothing particularly unique.
It was the first time for all four of us. We took the recommended route of a variety of plates, and enjoyed nearly all. Tuna was far too rare for this groups' taste...we're not into sushi. The drinks were particularly fun and good, as were the desserts. Ice cream sandwich is amazing. That's not to ignore the rye macaroni and fried pork. Even the bread was good, and was plentifully served. Our only criticism other than the local challenge of parking (pay no attention to the website statement about plenty on-street--even every parking meter was filled, mid week), is the offensive volume of the music. Thus our "ambiance" low rating. Perhaps the staff enjoys a loud and lively beat as they work, but guests trying to talk as well as eat find that impossible...and we were in a quieter area of the three! When someone finally toned it down about 9:30 PM it was actually pleasant to be there, in an interesting space. Wish it had been that way earlier.
Kirkland Tap & Trotter is FABULOUS! We had a huge party of 14 people and they were able to accommodate us on a Saturday night. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. Our waitress handled our giant group like a pro. We were never without drinks. This place is awesome.
