   Atmosphere was really dull as extremely quiet for a bank holiday Sunday. One of the starters was actually dried up so we complained and they took this off the bill ... mains were ok and desserts were not as described on the menu and not cooked correctly .... 2 desserts were removed from the bill. Really disappointing as had to point out the bad food ... would have hoped that management would not have wanted to serve it to us ... we will not be going back there

   We went to The Kings Head to celebrate my husbands birthday. We booked in advance and initially things weren’t too bad but after ordering the food it all went down hill! We arrived at 7.30 and at 8.30 we were still waiting for starters, the starter I ordered didn’t state it sits on mayonnaise hence when it arrive I sent it back as I don’t eat mayonnaise. I was then told that another starter would take 10 minutes so I told them not to worry and I would stick to the main on it’s own, a minute later our waitress came back with my new starter which actually was the original one that they had just moved onto a different plate and tried to hind the mayonnaise it had on it!! Hence I told them I didn’t want it, and hour later our mains arrived, which my friends was completely cold and very dry so it was sent away, they removed mains from the bill and told us that a large table that they had, had caused chaos which affected everyone else in the restaurant! Wouldn’t go back.

   Impressed with the food and prices. Service was really good for a pub on Saturday night, loads of attention paid to us and they left us plenty of time to relax. Really impressed with TheKings Head and will defiantly go again!

   Three out of four meals were great, one a little cold. We did have to wait rather a long time for our meal which was a bit annoying, my husband had to go to the bar twice to find out if we had been forgotten

   I used to love this place! Great food, amazing cocktails and the desserts used to beautiful, so super disappointed at our recent visit. It was a busy night and even though we were told that the food was running late, it was annoying that the waiter told us that it wouldn't be much longer and it was actually another 20 minutes after this. The food was well over an hour late. The meal was lovely, however the desserts were awful! My group tried out 3 different options and they were all completely tasteless. I barely touched mine and even informed the waitress when she picked up the plates but no offer to refund or an offer of a free drink! Although I'm not sure what I would have had as they don't do cocktails anymore, I mean really... zzzzzzz

   A bit disappointing. We were rather squashed at a table and when the table next to us was filled, trapped at it. We were asked whether we liked our starters before they arrived, but not asked if all was well for the main meals. Unfortunately there was grit in one of the meals which could not be eaten, though the other three meals were OK. We were given coffee to compensate. The noise level was very high which made conversation a bit difficult.

   Good Sunday dinner. Lovely gravy. Portions on the small side (2 small roast potatoes). Veg was a good mix but a bit more would have been nice. Lovely home made Yorkshire pud. Will come again though.

   It was all fine, not very christmassy though. And no Christmas menu, as was the previous year we had to ask for crackers, otherwise all was nice

   This used to be a really good venue, I really don't know what had happened to it. Given we went for a meal a week before Christmas and there were only 3 other customers in the whole place the entire time we were in there I don't think our poor experience can be unique. We'd ordered in advance from the Christmas menu. 2 of us had ordered slow cooked blade of beef - but when it came it was rare - really not something you expect with slow cooking! It was also really tough to cut not the fall apart texture you normally get with slow cooking. When we complained we were told it would take 15 mins to do a new one (again not sure how this would work with slow cooking - this comment and the texture of meat strongly made us suspect it was a cut of meat that SHOULD have been slow cooked that someone had tried to cook as steak. We asked for something else - only to be told we'd need to order of the main menu. When we asked for 2 turkey dinners off the Christmas menu we were told we could only have 1. So we asked if we could have that supplemented by some chicken off the main menu and split between the 2 people so that they still felt they had a "christmassy" meal. When this came it was awful - hard dried up potatoes and barely any meat. I think what made this whole experience even worse is that at no point did anyone come over and offer us any drinks - I don't even mean complimentary drinks - no one came and offered us drinks through our dinner at all - all we had was the drinks we asked for when the staff first came to serve our food- which for 2 of our party was 20 mins after they arrived. Towards the end one of us went to the bar and asked for a jug of water in desperation I strongly suspect there was no chef or manager on duty that night. What I will say is that when we asked for the bill we said we wouldn't be prepared to pay for 2 of the meals and this was agreed to with no push back.

    The menu has recently changed, which has reduced the variety a lot. The food was tasty but not inspiring as it used to be
