The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Yaletown
Friday - Saturday 4pm - 1:30am
Very good steak, high quality and much better pricing than Hy’s or Gotham.
It did what is was supposed to do- dinner was meh overall however I would go back for drinks. Good ambiance server was good, just lacking flavor. Ordered baseball steak and salmon
Waiter wasn't bad but didn't handle missing a drink very well.
Amazing steak! Great service, very good value. It was my birthday celebration and they gave me my dessert for free.
Delicious food. Roof top patio is amazing, but it was a bit of a wait. Rooftop bar was way overcrowded, but the food made up for it. Once we got to our actual table we had tons of room and it was relatively quiet
Very good moment in the Keg !! I recommend to everybody who wants to have a meal with friends or family. Very various menu and the service was top !!
For the most part, The Keg is an above average food experience. They deliver consistent quality with reasonably good service. They are quick to respond to any dietary requirements, management is better trained then the servers and for the price point in Vancouver you can't go wrong if you're looking for a decent steak dinner. They also offer one of the best priced wine selections in town.
The meal was great. The music was so loud though, we had a difficult time hearing each other talk. We had a very difficult time hearing the server and felt we had to yell our order out. Bring the music down please. People who want to party will go to the club later in the evening.
Sean: Best server ever (roof-top patio)............
Decent service for a busy night. Slow to get our drinks with dinner which was disappointing.
Husband ordered Lobster- was t cut nicely so it was extremely challenging to get out of the shell. Never experienced that at a restaurant before when ordering shellfish.
Filet mignonette was great. Noise level not so much...
Great environment and service
I had invited out of town family for dinner and made a reso. They arrived before me and were seated at a table immediately beside the kitchen door. There were plenty other seats and they had already asked to be moved but I was embarrassed. It was a poor and unnecessary choice. The server was also annoying. My niece ordered prime rib medium and it came rare.
We wanted to take advantage of a $50.00 gift certificate and the Lobsterfest. Perfect. We ordered a whole lobster and a baseball steak, a bottle of Zinfandel and shared all three. Service was great too. We will do it again next year.
I have to say I have been disappointed in the Keg’s steaks in the past but our baseball cut was perfect so we were delighted. Thanks for a great evening!
The service was really good. You felt valued as a customer and all the staff were genuinely pleased that you were there.
Food was fine. A bit disappointed in the prime rib, but nothing serious.
Sadly, the lobster was overcooked. The sirloin and double baked potatoe were amazing.
12 ounce New York Striploin, ordered at medium, came well done. Not a touch of pink anywhere on the inside. Was really disappointed. This was on a busy Friday afternoon when the staff were really busy, and I couldn't be bothered to chase them down. Great upper level patio and ambiance was great, but if what you want is a great steak experience, I wouldn't recommend.
Food was amazing, and the value for it great. However, service could be improved. I ordered the whole lobster and I had to request for the proper tools to open it, or we ordered coffee and had to request the sugar...just few details that would have made the experience 10/10. But overall, a very good experience
The steak was way over cooked and very tough. Fell way short of our expectation.
Always good value! from the 70's North Van location thru Kamloops, New West and many others!
My hat is off it the Keg! Congrats to David Aisenstat and now Cara for a great Restaurant!
Everything was pretty good except for one of the prime rib was quite rare when medium was ordered.
We had a wonderful dinner. Thank you for a great evening.
I went in to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. We were seated right away, given we had a reservation. I ordered the bacon wrapped chicken and my boyfriend ordered the Top Sirloin; both were delicious. He was treated with a free birthday dessert (chocolate brownie). We enjoyed our time at this restaurant. Will visit again when in town.
First of all, the service was excellent, from arrival to the delivery of my daughter’s free birthday Billy Miner pie, which was also, as always, excellent.
Our appetizers were also amazing: the escargot, cheese bread and Mushrooms Neptune were exactly as we remembered and expected from many other Keg meals. (So many!) And we all ate too much during the appetizer course, and in fairness to our mains, we should have stopped there. That said, I think the Keg welcomes feedback that allows for improvement, so ... the burger and fried chicken from the small plate menu were both meh. The burger was overdone, which was a real shame, because I think it would otherwise have been much better. Also, the cheese was so very orange, which to me signals food colouring which signals lower quality cheddar. My husbands fried chicken was fried pieces of boneless chicken breast, sort of like round chicken strips. Some people prefer that to juicy, on-bone chicken, but he really doesn’t, and it would have been nice to know in advance. I tasted it ... the coating was nice and crunchy but the overall experience was dry.
So ... there is your challenge, Keg ... we love you and want to see you at your best. Please give your cheerful and efficient staff delicious food to serve.
Thank you for the pie, and for hosting us for many many birthday family dinners over the years.
Great food, Awesome service! Steak was cooked to perfection as usual! Tx!
Excellent food and service. Thank you very much for a great evening
Under staffed, slow service and a few dirty tables around that took a long time to get cleaned up. Waited about 10mins at our table before we were assigned a server as we were told no one was servicing that section. Not a Keg Experience
It will be great if you had more food choices on the happy hour menu. The patio at the Yaletown branch is a no-fail spot for important business meetings and after viewing of downtown properties or after i host open houses. I am very happy with the Keg.
Everything was excellent as usual. Great food and service.
I have ordered the salmon and it was very over cooked - I was sharing my plate with my 2 year old daughter and she wouldn’t eat any of it. The salmon was very dry.
My husband and mom ordered the steak and lobster, it was ok - the steak was a bit undercooked for a medium rare. You would expect more from a popular steak house for having a medium rare steak cooked right.
Service was ok (regular).
Noise, it’s quite loud in there - so we end up having to talk louder so that we could hear each other; it was quite annoying. The noise was more than the comfortable level for us.
We might not come back to this location for dinner. But I might come for drinks only as they have a pretty nice patio (top floor).
Good food and service! Noisy— due to it being holiday and crowded.
Great quality meat, asparagus, and fries. It's difficult not to over- or undercook asparagus, and these were perfect. Drinks came quickly, white cloth napkins and the tablecloth were sparkling clean. Attentive service without being obtrusive. Limited menu, but we use the Keg as a place for good quality steak and ribs. On reflection, the giant shrimp were marvellous too. The tricky part of meat, fish, and veg dinners is to get the temperature right for each element when brought together to the table. I don't know how they do it so well. The other thing was our special request. It's lovely when a restaurant pays attention to them. The Keg (Yaletown) did.
Had an amazing but relaxing family dinner. The service was awesome!
fresh food, great services, nice ambience and good location!
It was a very nice night out. The food was really good.
very good restaurant. nice environment and great service. It is a great place to enjoy the meals and the friends gathering
Great service and the patio is the best in Yaletown. One steak was over cooked but otherwise, food was great
Ambiance was great once it got dark, and the food was worth the price. We were able to make terrible jokes all night uninterrupted, and the only thing I felt was off is that there weren't a ton of options for non alcoholic drinks.
Highly recommend this restaurant. It was excellent food and service. My 2 young kids ate everything on their plates, including the vegetables. Everything tasted delicious. I ordered the beef medallions with shrimp and my husband had the tuna. We gave these 2 thumbs up. Our waitress, Andrea, was exceptionally courteous and we had a great evening.
I got to the Keg just before 7pm on Tuesday. I was sitting alone for a good 20 minutes and had 2 whiskey sour drinks which were really good. I asked to server if he could make them a little more frothy and they came as requested. It was a good start to my experience. My date arrived shortly after and ordered a bellini (which is her favorite drink at the Keg) and was not expecting what was delivered. Apparently there are 2 different bellini options which she was unaware of. The server did not let us know this. In order to not make her feel uncomfortable, thinking she had made a mistake, I kindly asked the server about the bellini she was familiar with to which he said yes we have that drink. She received her drink and was content. Throughout our drinks and dinner, our server had taken our order for another round and it took some time for our drinks to arrive. He came back to our table empty handed and had to ask what drinks we were having again. Though, we had stuck to the same drinks all night. We ordered the Ribeye steak and split the plate 50/50 with an extra twice baked potatoe. It was delicious! Experience could have been better but overall 3/5. Better service next time. It did seem like it was our servers first month or week. We sat on the patio in the farthest corner to the left after getting out of the elevator. I've been there a few times and will most likely be back. Cheers!
