The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Whistler Ratings and Reviews
Oberall our exoeriebde left something to be desired. And 3 empty stomachs.
While our server was very food our food was not up to pay by any means.
I specifically inquired about the childs menu; the chicken strips. As on our last trip the year prior they were heavily breaded so were very crunchy with a thin portion od chicken inside. Very very difficult for a child to eat. And not very nutritious with the over abundance if coating.
I was assured their new strips were handmade and breaded and very tender. When they arrived, i was very disappointed with the tiny portion size. We received 3 strips approximately 1.5-2 cm wide and 4 5 inches long. Barely the size my tiny pinky fingera. At $12 this was unacceptable. Then upon tasting they were super dry amd chewy. The kids mean comes with a drink and desswrt. They didnt being or offer the drink or dessert. I had to initiate it.
My 14oz prime rib was anout 55% meat to 45% fat portion for $42. Again, this is absolutely unacceptable. My husbands steak was mediocre at best, a bit chewy and his twice baked potato was far overdone.
My son couldnt chew his meat and during the food quality check i told the server, it was not rectificed. No other choices were given and it was still on the bill.
We left still hungry and had to order takeout from another reataurant.
Thumbs down keg. Won't be visiting you again.
I could not give the food full marks even though the prime rib was done to med rare as advertised. The reason for this is my brother and I had over-cooked potatoes, which we did not worry about as we had plenty of food on our plate. I do wish that all main coarse came with vegetables as an included option. At the end of the meal I was treated to a complimentary dessert for my birthday, which was greatly appreciated.
My husband and I went for early dinner and had reservations, good thing because it filled up quickly. I had the 7 oz filet mignon with the Asiago rice and Caesar salad. It was all delicious. My husband had the teriyaki steak and it was also very tasty. It was a pricey dinner but enjoyed it.
The waitress was great - Australian girl making her way to stay n Canada but she has 3 weeks before hernias expires. She was respectful waitress.
However, my wife food was cold , fries were cold to a point it smell and tasted like it was sitting
on the counter far too long. Appetizers were ok.
Overall - for what we spend ( over $250) it wasn't as expected. My steak was over well done
to charcoal burn on four corners on my steak. I wasn't too impressed.
I like the Keg very much and don't mind spending the money but this evening in Whistler
Keg wasn't one of my best experience.
We went for the rib eye with twice baked potato and half rack of ribs with French fries. The appetizer was the Tuna tataki and it was amazing! You must get dessert and try the billy miner pie. It's to die for.....Drool ;p
Overall experience was amazing our waiter Sean was attentive and very nice. He went above and beyond to ensure our dinner experience was met! Thank you so much Sean and the rest of the team at the Keg Whistler! Top notch food and service, we will be back! Take care, Your friendly Vancouverite's
We were seated on a quiet table as requested. Cocktails were nicely made and enjoyable. Our server was attentive all through the meal and we did not feel at all pressurised, but this was a later 8.30 booking. Starters were good - scallops in bacon, calamari, but shrimp cocktail lacked flavour. Surf and turf steak/lobster combo was good, fair quantity but vegetables under done. This is not fine dining, but we were happy with the overall meal and experience
We were very disappointed with our Keg experience. Our server "Jeff" was awful. First of all he never gave us the specials, nor asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion (it was my husbands 40th birthday that day). He never cleared the extra glasses out of the way (we had 2 you d children at the table) so while I was ordering food for my sons, one of the menus knocked my full glass of while all over me and the glass smashed into pieces. Jeff said "Oh, I'll grab you some cloths" but when he came back, he never helped to wipe the table or help check for broken glass. He left it up to my husband and I which was extremely hard trying to clean up the mess and manage our two young children. It seemed like he just didn't want to deal with it. The table was sticky for our entire meal and I had to ask him to remove the menus, cutlery and glasses that were covered in wine and then had to ask him for new cutlery and serviettes since the others were saturated. He also just left the wet wine cloths beside booth and never bothered to remove them for our entire meal. He forgot to bring our kids milk and barely checked in on us, full on knowing that I was sitting there in wet clothes. It was embarrassing and awful. No care, no sympathy, no help...
To boot, we took our kids to the bathroom and upon our return to the table, our server had thrown our leftover steak away (not even 5 minutes later).
We will never return to this Keg again. We were looking forward to celebrating my husbands 40th birthday together as a family and our server literally ruined that experience for us. Sure, the wine spilling wasn't his fault, but he could have helped and made the experience more enjoyable for us after seeing what happened.
Had a great anniversary dinner, the Keg is always our restaurant for our anniversary dinner and this was our first time at the location in Whistler. The host, server and kitchen didn't let us down - probably the best service and food at any of the locations we have been too. A little less formal than other locations - perhaps due to the outdoorsy nature of this area. The washrooms were the only thing I couldn't say would get a good feedback...they really need an overhaul. Old colours, old dirty tile and old fixtures.
Food was very good. I was in the mood for prime rib and escargot, so it hit the mark. Service was a bit rushed. As a salad was being finished, we were informed that the entree would be arriving in 2-3 minutes. Not exactly how I expected service. We shouldn't be told how the meal is going to arrive, the servers should be more attentive.
