The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Whistler Ratings and Reviews
What I really like about this place is the fact that a kid’s meal has actual real food just like an adult portion, only less of it. My daughter and I both enjoyed a tasty sirloin steak and I was happy to see a very nice vegetable side dish offered (asparagus, grilled red peppers, and green beans) as a Paleo-friendly alternative to a starch. We will definitely be back!
Worst food ever at a keg, don’t know what happened as we go to the keg often. The steak meals were bland, pepper corn sauce looked like turkey gravy. The Oscar sauce was watered down looking and had no flavour. Not consitant with most kegs. Unfortunate for $50.00 a plate meals
After waiting for a table at Christmas in 2016 for over two hours, this year we made reservations waaaay in advance. We knew we wanted to return here for Christmas dinner again! We traveled all the way from Florida and the Keg did not disappoint. The 6 members enjoyed appetizers, steak and one chicken entree. The special lobster appetizer was SOOOO GOOD! Definitely a favorite. Also the dessert options were plentiful. My only teeny tiny disappointment was the selection of only one Reisling by the glass...it was a dry option and just so-so. But everything else was hands down the best meal we have had while visiting Whistler for the second time.
Our table was ready when we arrived as was our waiter, Simon. After introducing himself he asked for our names which he remembered for the remainder of the evening. A firm handshake followed. The food was on par with the many other Kegs we have visited across Canada, right from 1971 when the restaurant was known as the Keg and Cleaver and the entire menu was on a paddle board. I had the filet, blue rare as per usual, and my wife had the prime rib. We both cases we felt that we could only rate the meat portion of the meal at about 8 out 10 which was a bit of a surprise to us. It was done correctly, it was more about the quality of the meat. The service however was superb. We remain fans however.
Excellent experience as expected from The Keg. Service and food were top notch. Even though the place was very busy on a Saturday night our food came out quick and was perfect. I would recommend a reservation. We had one but heard it was 1.5 hour wait on a Saturday evening.
The Keg in Whistler was very welcoming to myself and my husband and our three children. We went to celebrate my birthday. They didn't rush us out of there. The waitress recommend a delicious wine to go along with our steak. I got free birthday cake, with a candle, and my family sang to me!
My steak was underdone, seafood was microwave warmed up, bread never arrived, service was rude, place was noisy and cold... Our worst Keg experience ever. Compared to the Victoria Keg where we frequent a few times a year, this Keg needs a few lessons from them maybe?
I order the fillet mignon and it was perfect. My wife ordered the NY and it was pretty tough and chewy. The steak knives were old and "butter knife" dull. She had problems hacking through her steak. A large % was gristle (not prime beef). If you go here only order the fillet mignon for your steak.
Oberall our exoeriebde left something to be desired. And 3 empty stomachs.
While our server was very food our food was not up to pay by any means.
I specifically inquired about the childs menu; the chicken strips. As on our last trip the year prior they were heavily breaded so were very crunchy with a thin portion od chicken inside. Very very difficult for a child to eat. And not very nutritious with the over abundance if coating.
I was assured their new strips were handmade and breaded and very tender. When they arrived, i was very disappointed with the tiny portion size. We received 3 strips approximately 1.5-2 cm wide and 4 5 inches long. Barely the size my tiny pinky fingera. At $12 this was unacceptable. Then upon tasting they were super dry amd chewy. The kids mean comes with a drink and desswrt. They didnt being or offer the drink or dessert. I had to initiate it.
My 14oz prime rib was anout 55% meat to 45% fat portion for $42. Again, this is absolutely unacceptable. My husbands steak was mediocre at best, a bit chewy and his twice baked potato was far overdone.
My son couldnt chew his meat and during the food quality check i told the server, it was not rectificed. No other choices were given and it was still on the bill.
We left still hungry and had to order takeout from another reataurant.
Thumbs down keg. Won't be visiting you again.
I could not give the food full marks even though the prime rib was done to med rare as advertised. The reason for this is my brother and I had over-cooked potatoes, which we did not worry about as we had plenty of food on our plate. I do wish that all main coarse came with vegetables as an included option. At the end of the meal I was treated to a complimentary dessert for my birthday, which was greatly appreciated.
My husband and I went for early dinner and had reservations, good thing because it filled up quickly. I had the 7 oz filet mignon with the Asiago rice and Caesar salad. It was all delicious. My husband had the teriyaki steak and it was also very tasty. It was a pricey dinner but enjoyed it.
