The server we had was knowledgeable and amazing. One of our guests was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and was somewhat anxious re: public dining due to the danger of cross contamination. Our server went beyond the call of duty reassuring her and checking all of her food choices and preparation. The result was a fabulous birthday supper for my son. As usual, the Keg delivered in all ways and remains our go-to dining destination.
Decent service , seated near kitchen when not at capacity, so noise level was higher than need be, but not too distracting. Reservation table was ready without delay, appetizers and drinks excellent. Steak was not well trimmed, but still enjoyable otherwise, house provided a devine cheesecake we enjoyed as a compensation for the rough last few bites of steak , we were very satisfied.
I was disappointed in the quality of the food. The side salad with the ribs tasted like water. There was no dressing on the salad. Also we received fries instead of rice and the server did not return with the rice. Overall the experience was the worst.
Food was very good, as were the drinks. Server was very nice but lacked a bit of training like pouring my wife's water, getting a glass of wine as requested. A tad annoying but not a large deal. We enjoyed out meal very much.
We've always had a good experience at this The Keg location. On this occasion, our server was very attentive, really friendly and genuine. Thanks!
It was my first time using OpenTable which was a smooth process. I would use the service.
The Keg is always on our list for special events. All our wants and needs that night were fulfilled in a very timely fashion.
First Time at this Keg. Enjoyed the meal immensely.
I have to admit that I typically find that chain restaurants in Victoria have fallen into the habit of hiring inexperienced, robotic servers who follow a script and lack charm, charisma, and technique. Tonight we came for a late Mother’s Day dinner. Our server Adrian was outstanding. Our experience was actually tailored to our personality which he read perfectly at the first greet. This is nearly impossibly to find nowadays. Our meal was timely, perfectly prepared and because it was accompanied with stellar service, here I am writing this review. Thanks for knocking it out of the park, Adrian. I have now officially made this Keg location, the one I will return to.
Good establishment which has been in Victoria for decades. Menu is well endowed with a great selection. Staff are well trained providing fine service. Bit pricy though.
Great service sets the Keg apart. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and efficient.
This Keg is well staffed so you always get prompt and polite service.
Overall good dining experience with friends. I made a reservation and we were seated promptly, although I had requested a booth and we were seated in a half booth amongst others. Service for beverages was a bit slow and we had to remind our server that one of our friends still did not have her drink even after he brought her red wine and not white as she’d asked. The blue cheese topping on my steak was cold, flavourless, mushy and awful and I think they forgot to broil it.
There was gritty/sandy bits in the escargot appt which was a bit disappointing, but somewhat understandable. I had asked for extra sour cream for my potato but was given a bowl of whipped butter on my plate. Our server didn’t ask if I would like it returned, so maybe just let it go. One of my friends orfered the special; the crab was impressive and the asparagus was plentiful. My other companion had the Seafood Oscar; she, too, had asked for extra sour cream but didn’t receive it. In dining at the Keg in the past, I have always been asked if we were celebrating a special event or something and this time we weren’t. It’s not a huge deal, but it would have been a nice touch. In celebration of our birthday’s at the Keg in the past we have been offered a slice of Billy Miner Pie but this time we were not. We did order a piece, however, and it was very good. Our server was friendly and polite.
We all enjoyed the service and food. The only complaint is that it is very noisy so that people have to raise their voices to be here which all increases the noise factor.
Birthday dinner for 9. Great service. Great food. Thanks.
I regularly meet friends and family at the Keg. We know we will get good food, cooked perfectly (especially for me: I like my beef blue!) and always great service.
The Keg on Quadra is especially convenient as it offers parking.
Our family from Ontario was visiting. The night before they left, we went to the Keg to celebrate many things - family joy, many birthdays, good times, mother's day, father's day, things to come, before their next visit in 2 years time.
Great food awesome waiter. We tried the Keg after having had a somewhat disappointing experience late last year. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back
Good food nice atmosphere
The bacon wrapped scallops , fresh bread, caesar salad , and 10 oz and 7 oz . filets are are wonderfully tasty, although pricey. We eat half the main and bring home half for a great lunch. $136 ( with tip ) for 2 means we don't go often. Presently have gift cards from family. Using "open table" I think gave us a less than satisfactory table for two beside a very busy path and steps to the kitchen. That made dinner more noisy and less enjoyable. Another time I will use the site to find times open and call for reservation to get a better placement out of the line of fire. Restaurant is generally a high noise environment.
The food will bring us back.
Although we only make it 1-2 per year it is always excellent. Great waitstaff.
DId not disappoint. Wait staff were terrific. Drinks were generous in measure. My steak was slightly underdone, but it was still delicious. Mushrooms Neptune were a great taster before our meal. I’ve been going to the Keg for 40 years and it has not faltered in its service or food. Recommend this place for warm atmosphere, good food and terrific service. Go there!
I requested a booth for date night and was seated in a both shared where the bench extended to the next table. Not very private, also seated by the kitchen so it was very loud.
I ordered the fillet and half of it had threads of fat running through it. Couldn't eat that part. Ordered many fillets at the Keg and it's the first time I experienced fat like that.
Service was great; friendly and prompt. Food was properly cooked and quite tasty. Despite large groups present, the arrangement leaves most tables still feeling fairly private with enough sound proofing to make it fairly quiet. While not the cheapest place to eat per se, it's worth the few extra dollars compared to a more casual place. Parking, while not exceedingly plentiful, is large compared to many Victoria eateries and far better than the other location in town. 10/10 would go back.
Bad anniversary experience, sent back order after a few bites, chewy, tough.
Great food and service as always.
Normally I would not give such a bad review. Service was great but I found a large hair in the brie appie and then once again as I was eating my entree I found a beard hair in my green beans. Definately not my hair as I am a women with short blonde hair. The server was ok about the situation, obviously not his fault. But I was a little disappointed that at the end of the meal all that was given to us was a free dessert that we didn't even want. I've been a server for 10 years and at many restaurants I've worked there would have been more then just a free dessert not wanted by a customer.
Bring the salad bar back. More variety of CRAFT beer on tap.
The waiter, Danielle, was informative, friendly and flexible with the menu options. She also had a good sense of humour. We did not feel rushed, which was exactly what I wanted for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious. We are always happy with the Keg. Enjoyed the complementary billy miner pie for dessert. Thank you.
Food was great and the service was excellent.
Unfortunately we were seated in a corner where all we could see was a wall. Because we made the reservation early and did request a particular table, which has we did not get, the experience was just Ok. Usually we don't mind the overpriced food but we will probably go somewhere else for future Anniversary dinners.
The food was awesome and very generous portions. Our server was very friendly and the wait time for the food was not long at all. It was a very quiet atmosphere which I really appreciated. We were upstairs. Thank you for your excellent service and food.
Another fun dinner at the Keg with a friend. Must give the white sangria a try. Both our steaks were a little over cooked but still good.
They were prompt when I arrived in taking me to our table. The server seemed a little nervous, as if it was his first or second night at the job. The food was ok, the prime rib was over cooked, and there was too much dressing on the caesar salad. But overall it was a 3 star out of 5.
Dinner was cooked exactly as requested
The service was phenomenal!! The server was Jay & what a pleasant knowledgeable waiter.
Great as usual. Every time we go it is great. Service is good and steaks are fantastic. I never had a bad meal
Don't go to the keg often, we don't eat beef often, but when we want a steak the keg is the first on our list. Well done.
Food and service were awesome. Fast prompt service
Great atmosphere, very upbeat. The service was great and I would return just because of the service. The food was average nothing amazing but still recommend!
Staff very kind to my two ladies I care for that have disabilities. Accommodated their eating needs.
Delicious food and great service. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our evening.
