The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Red Deer Ratings and Reviews
My husband took me to The Keg for my birthday and we had such an amazing meal! I had the steak and crab legs and was thoroughly impressed! I was even brought a delicious dessert for my birthday and even though I was sure I wasn’t going to be able to eat another bite I managed to eat almost the entire thing. It was delicious!
I can’t wait to go back for more!
Quality food - great prime rib and steak - mixed vegetables option could be more varied (was just asparagus and some bits of red pepper) - hardly any 'mix' to the vegetables - nice selection of wines and beers (including local varieties) - an expensive meal means that we only selectively come back for rare occasions rather than as return/regular customers - noise level borders on being excessive and takes away from a cozy atmosphere, or one that encourages discourse amongst the diners - not a restaurant I would recommend for an intimate occasion - staff were busy and working hard, but we were neglected or forgotten at times when we wished service - hard to track down staff when they are running about in a warren of areas - friendly and welcoming but distracted at times - reservations are recommended as the walk-up line was an hour wait (we luckily booked ahead, so missed that) - value is uncertain as it is costly to attend and that keeps us back from coming more than once a year - not a unique enough a menu to set it apart from other options in town at a more reasonable rate - will come back again, but makes it tough to entertain guests at this price point - ice cream cake was generally tasty but not overly inventive -
We always enjoy the Keg! Booking the reservation was super easy and we were seated immediately when we arrived. The server was fantastic and she did a great job waiting on us. The food is always really good. However, you are paying for what you get. (not cheap) We really enjoyed our evening.
Had my anniversary here food was amazing service was top notch she the server even asked if we wanted to leave her flowers there so they didn't freeze in the truck while we were shopping . Left her a nice tip thank you so much keg red deer made my experience so much better 5star on everything
Could do without the music. It was tough enough trying to carry on a conversation at your table.
Food was good, but overpriced,
Saw a guy that walked around like he was the manager.....never made eye contact of any kind of greeting or anything else with any of the customers,,,,,,very cold
Glad I had a reservation! This Keg is always busy, which is not surprising and great for them.
As always, food was delicious (hubby had the baseball sirloin and I had the filet) and wine was lovely! We also had great service. Opted for cocktails instead of a traditional dessert!
Unfortunately we had a table very near the kitchen entrance so it was not loud and busy but otherwise a great experience.
We walked in after booking on line and were taken directly to our table .We were very pleased with the service ! Food was very good except for my husbands prime rib which was quite fatty and one end of it was hard to cut thru . We didn't complain , probably should have . The rest of our meals and appetizers were very good
We had reservations and checked in at the front. The hostess continued to seat walk-ins ahead of us. Thankfully the manager came and checked and sat us right away when he saw we were still waiting 20min past our reservation. Food and service was amazing after that.
My plate was dirty on the bottom(underside), same thing happened the last time I was there.
I order my prime rib medium rare, it was rare. I don't mind rare if it's a tender cut but, while chewing, because it was so stringy, I literally had to break my meat with my fingers before swallowing, otherwise I would have choked!
I never complained due to the company I was with. However, I wish I would have asked for my money back! It wasn't worth the $38 that I paid. Very substandard for a Keg restaurant!
As usual excellent food and service. The variety on the menu was excellent. Perfect that you have a starter of mixed vegetables and fruit for children. Really helps while waiting for the meal. The wait staff and hostesses did a great job. I think it is the only place in red deer where when I order a medium well steak it comes exactly as I wanted. Nice able to make reservations ahead of time. Overall five star rating establishment. 👍
To be quite honest I was disappointed. Steaks were delicious, the garlic mashed potatoes also delicious, but portion sizes were pretty skimpy for the price. We ordered a garlic cheese loaf & again the taste was extraordinary, but it was very hard to chew. We ate there because we had a gift card, & based on the portion to price ratio, I wasn’t impressed & probably wouldn’t refer friends to eat there. I don’t mind paying a fair price for a good meal as long as I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. The Keg does not offer this in my opinion
