The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Granville Island Ratings and Reviews
Food was good as usual, service was also good. Made a request for a table and not a booth which we ended being sat at, but it was fine tonight. Drinks were well done, my wife especially enjoyed her dirty martini.
Our only complaint was how loud a child was at another table. This child kept screaming intermittently and really was disruptive.
In our section, everytime the child screamed, folks at various tables would start looking around uncomfortably. At this particular Keg, this was the first time we experienced this. Normally the restaurant has a energetic vibe, but tonight it was just distracting. We lost count at 12 outbursts of piercing wailing.
We still plan on coming back, we more often than not have good experiences. But first time on a Sunday, so maybe we'll avoid this day of the week.
Very disappointed with the prime rib this time.. big chunks of fat, the meat it’s self was very tough.. ended up reading the rest of it to my dog..
One of our appetizers was forgotten
My dates meal was over cooked. She said something about it, it was forgotten under the heat lamp.. it wasn’t even that busy..
Even though the meal wasn’t 100% the bill still was..
To end on a positive.. the server was great he was very apologetic and professional about the entire mix up.. took the missing appetizer off the bill..
The Keg is a safe bet with good standards of food and service. A gal pal and I went there on a Thursday night for a business/friend date dinner. The service seemed a bit vague even for a Thursday but was pleasant. The food was standard Keg fare. It was tasty and properly cooked. I recommend the baked brie appetizer.
We're seniors so I guess we don't have the tolerance we used to have. We were seated at five PM and our dinner came at 5:45 PM. The longer we waited the more our buoyant mood changed. The coke I ordered had no flavour, and the server said he would replace it, as he had other complaints about it as well. The first coke came at about 5:10 PM and the replacement came at 5:30. The food portions (garlic potatoes) seemed smaller than in the past, and the onion rings were not crisp, and really not hot. Sour grapes eh. We have been coming there for years and we always had a good time. The staff is great, I guess it was just a bad night. I don't think that you serve coca-cola, so I was wondering that it probably was Pepsi. Overall we like your establishment and it is where we go to celebrate special occasions. We'll try again sometime. Thanks for asking for the review. We're grateful to be alive and certainly there are more important things to go on about. Cheers, Mac and Cathy McLaughlin
PS, we haven't received the email regarding the balance from the $75 gift certificate yet.
I love the Classic Keg Prime Rib here. Had the iceberg wedge saiad with blue cheese dressing (yummy) to start followed by prime rib and baked potato. Server was good enough to provide me (the birthday girl) with a complimentary dessert of mud pie drizzled with caramel sauce that was garnished with almonds and large enough to share for 2.
Went to the Keg because it was my birthday as well as my boyfriends birthday. The service was quite slow. Came to our table and told us about the seasonal menu but did not ask straight up if we wanted to start with drinks or appetizers just left then came back. Got the prime rib which was huge but maybe instead of a heaping of onion straws maybe some veggies to even out the huge piece of meat? Both my boyfriend and I left kind of sick the day after. Would probably come back but not in the next couple of years since of how sick I felt.
Very nice dinner. Menu has variety, but the steaks are the main attraction. Gluten free options available. Quiet intimate ambience. Mike our waiter was very attentive and informative, but never intrusive or made you feel rushed. Parking can be a headache as there is no dedicated lot for the restaurant. It's public pay parking, and if you are a busy time you may have to walk a couple of blocks. Recommend reservations. Would definitely go again. Average cost $30 - $40 a plate not including drinks
Our favourite place for all our birthday celebrations. Food was great as usual, however the service was not as exceptional as in past visits. The general consensus was that our server didn't really seem to want to be there that night. Maybe he was having a bad night My prime rib dinner came without the jus and horseradish and our meals took forever to arrive. Mentioned to the waiter, twice, that it was my girlfriend's birthday and we still had to ask for the piece of ice cream cake for her. Also was very tacky that he told us that the percentage on tips would not calculate properly since we applied a couple of gift cards to the bill. Not the usual fantastic experience. Hope this is a one of, as we travel in from Port Coquitlam just to dine here.
we were disappointed with the length of time to get our food as a couple came in the same time we did and they were gone before we got our food. We enjoyed the ambience st Albertni better.
We thoroughly enjoyed our he food when it came and the view was spectacular
Overall good experience however I was celebrating my belated bday dinner and did a special request to get a free ice cream cake and I didn't get one! Last year I went to the exact same place and the hostess asked is we were celebrating anything? I told her it was my birthday and she told her manager and she gave us a complimentary ice cream cake! Didn't get one this year! Not a happy customer!
We were pleasantly surprised by our experience here. I made the reservation before we landed in Vancouver and didn't realize there were many locations. Sometimes this can detract from quality control. Not here! We went to many well rated restaurants during our visit and this was actually our favorite! My husband said it was the best meal he had on our whole trip. Everything was cooked perfectly, reasonably priced, and wonderful service. I really wish I could remember our server's name because he was fantastic. I would absolutely recommend this place and plan to visit it again!
Came here for my daughter's 5th birthday and she was treated like a princess. Our server Mary Beth was very attentive without feeling like we were being hovered over.
The kids steak was a bit chewy and boiled carrots were bland.
I had the prime rib and it was amazing! I ended up giving half to my daughter. So tender and flavourful.
Hubby had the top sirloin and it was tasty with the brisket on top but the streak also on the chewy side. Mashed potatoes stellar.
Candle in ice cream made my daughters day!
We been going to keg for years. We live 10 min walk from Granville island. This was the worst Meal
We have had there. Food cold, wife's steak under cooked and mine over. We had sam New York. We have been to yaletown keg and it is by far a better place. We tried granvilebislanf one last time as it is walkable instead of driving but we are done with it for our monthly keg meal. we will be returning to yaletown from now on.
The Keg 'Experience' has never disappointed us and we have been eating there since it first opened in Vancouver when the menu was on a paddle board, you could fill up on a 30 foot salad bar and nothing cost more than about $5.49. It is one of the few restaurants that consistently knows how to cook a steak properly. For some one who likes his steak blue rare, this is important. This goes for every Keg restaurant we have eaten in right across Canada.
Very knowledgeable staff, wonderful welcome when you arrive, and a menu that is sure to delight.
