The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Grande Prairie Ratings and Reviews
Our server was fantastic and she was quick to help out when there was an issue with our good and even when we had been waiting an hour to get our food she kept checking in and apologizing which we appreciate.
My steak was under cooked but I could still handle eating it but my boyfriend's ordered a medium well and it came more medium rare. They took it back and replated it for him with a new side which was great but the steak was still very undermine.
Our appie was comped and that was really nice so overall still not a bad experience but disappointing for the food we have been waiting for so long for
They had trouble using our gift card. Which was strange because we just used the same one in Banff no problem. So that took 20 odd minutes to figure out. The lighting is very dim which was hard on our eyes. You could tell the staff was new, considering they just reopened 2 weeks ago. I'll let that slide.
While normally we have a wonderful time at the keg.. We were extremely dissapointed on this visit.
I did not receive the correct steak, and was not provided any utensils to open my crab legs.
We attempted to get the attention of a staff member multiple times. No success.
I actually had to walk to the hostess booth in the front and ask them to send a server or manager over to us.
My husband and I went for date night pre-valentines day. This was our first time back since they reno’ed and it was great as usual! They did however overcook my rib steak and were not going to let me eat it like that, it just so happened the corporate “chef” was there training and brought me my steak re-done!! Omg it was so so good! They made sure we were not leaving without having the “Keg experience” and our waiter “Josh” was fantastic, friendly and on key for everything! Except we didn’t get the bread ;) will be back again and again!
We were there for the wife’s birthday, Feb 13. Our appetizers were a little long in coming out, when they arrived, the lady in charge told us immediately they would be taken off our bill. The appts were amazing, mushrooms neptune and escargot. Our meal came right away so we rushed to finish our appys and the wife’s steak wasn’t cooked medium well. It was closer to rare/medium rare. We sent it back (she is pretty fussy with her meat, likes it cooked with hardly any pink or blood, unlike me who will eat it somewhere between mooing and burnt) again the lady was right there to make sure it was right when it came out, it wasn’t, was same as first time so we sent it back again and third time it came out perfect. We love the Keg and we understand the difficulties when starting back up after closing down for a while. The service was excellent and the attention to our meal to make sure it was cooked right was great. It took a couple times but that was fine by us and everything that was wrong was taken off the bill. We had an amazing meal and were more than compensated on the bill. We will definitely return and we know the kitchen will get better with time and more training. Thank you for making Shelley’s birthday supper great.
We both ordered rib steak, as it’s the tastiest, but husband’s came with bone (typical rib steak) and mine had no bone/was not rib steak. It was a bit burnt, and did not have that nice marbling that a rib steak has. It was thick and tough. Disappointed, as I was really looking forward to my steak.....especially since The Keg was closed for so long, and we hadn’t been for a visit in so long.
I dislike the new modern look. Keg stood for the best western steaks. Now it looks like Manhattans, and every other uptown restaurant. Other guests were arriving in jeans and workcoat, looking obviously uncomfortable and out of place in the suit and tie environment.
Great food, good service, excelent waiter. So much staff they were tripping over each other.
I can get the same food, service at Mr Mikes. But I get a better western look and comfortable atmosphere there and it is almost 50% cheaper. I would recommend them before the Keg to visitors wanting the best taste of the west.
Would be better to have more options for those with some of the more common dietary sensitivities or preferences such as grain-free and dairy-free options. Although the staff was very helpful in finding out ingredients for us to make options, it’s just time consuming and more troublesome that way.
We enjoyed our meal. Service was a bit slow...we were there 2 hours....but it was very busy and the first weekend being open. We'll definitely go back...but hope for speedier service as well as less noise...as I could hardly hear my husband across the table.
had a reservation and was confirmed by the restaurant, came there and front person said There is no reservation under my name Ooopppss, but still got a sit anyway.
our server Dorothy is excellent, was nice to see Katelyn there too, thumbs up to the asst manager which she provide a nice gesture beco our steak is under cooked.
very cozy place.
We enjoyed dinner with friends for our anniversary. Our server Dorothy was very professional and provided above and beyond service not found anywhere else in Grande Prairie. Kitchen manager was amazing and food was delicious. Looking forward to our next visit. I hope they sustain this level of excellent food and service. Our new favourite dining spot in GP.
Traditionally a very good experience, and it was again a great place for our special occasion. One feature I hope you improve on during your renovation is disabled access. We have a friend in a wheelchair and we literally had to carry him into the place and out, and no disabled parking that he could find. Accessible washrooms is another issue. Not sure how or why this can happen these days with accessibility requirements, so please address it for our friend's and others sake.
Made reservations on Friday for Sunday and they had no idea about it. Got there and they looked us up and found our reservation but had no table for us. Went downstairs where it was noisier and not a quiet booth like I had requested. This was a Birthday dinner for my husband. Steak was over cooked and tough and the butter for my husbands crab was cold. Wasn't very happy at all.
