Our server was polite & did the minimal that she had to do. The server beside our table was talking & asking about their visit. I said to my husband too bad we didn't get that server. Finally at the end when she gave the bill to my husband, I said I'll take that, you can't pay on your birthday. Oh it's your birthday? Well if she had taken the time to talk to us she would have known. Also when I made the reservation it asks if it is a birthday, anniversary etc. Why ask if it isn't noted for the server to know about.
Filet mignon was so melt in your mouth delicious!
Ate every last bit! Came with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans and roasted red pepper! No complaints at all!!
Had a wedding anniversary here at Keg. Ordered our favourites - filet mignon and teriyaki sirloin. Loved the dessert on the house at the end! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch too.
Outstanding views from an Upper Level table
Our table was upstairs in the quieter area, which was great. The service was impeccable. The meal delicious, if somewhat on the expensive side. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed, but we made reservations and didn't even have to wait to get seated. It wasn't that noisy in the smaller section we were in. Overall a great night and would go back again.
We live in Nanaimo and enjoy driving South to Victoria to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary same weekend yearly. We always go to The Keg for our celebratory occasions. Foods is consistently great as well as service and ambience at the Fort Street location. 😀
Had not been to the Keg in a few years. Felt the value for the experience was down. My meal had not been finished by the kitchen properly. Salad not dressed nor was dressing provided. Had to wave down our server. Seared tuna was tough and lacked flavour. I recognize this is a steak house, but don't offer the dish - at that price if it's not going to be done correctly. 4 of 7 in our party enjoyed their meal. Finally did not know staff had stopped singing Happy Birthday as my 85 yr old mom would have enjoyed. Won't be my first, second or third choice next time we are out for dinner.
We had a birthday dinner at the fort st keg and the view was great but they closed the shades due to sunlight hitting other tables- but no one was seated at those tables! the rooms are disjointed and small and the restaurant doesn't have a great flow through or setup but the view makes up for it. overall décor is dark and a little tired looking.
The service was great- our server was a British fellow and he had a good sense of humour an was knowledgeable regarding the menu. I appreciated having a vegan option on the menu which wasn't there last time we went to the keg- so kudos to a steak house for being inclusive.
Loved our supper and service from Kyle at the Keg the other night. Food at the Keg never disappoints. The steak was amazing, vegetables just the right amount of crunch. Every bit of the food was satisfying to the extreme. The service was friendly and efficient. We walked away full, happy and probably a few more pounds added - but SO worth it.
The Keg is always consistent in its quality of food and service. We are always greeted by a friendly person as soon as we enter The Keg. The seating arrangements are comfortable. The menu selections are awesome and offer a huge variety for every taste. The drinks are great. The sourdough bread with the whipped butter is delicious. I love the wedge salad. The steak and crab legs and the prime rib are our absolute favorites. And the cherry cheesecake is the perfect ending to a beautiful meal. Well done!!!
Great service and food as always, a touch on the pricey side for pure value and cut of steak but recommended just the same.
The overall experience was mediocre. From the hostess greeting to being directed to our table. The server was friendly but seemed to disappear throughout our courses. The food was acceptable.
Fantastic good but disappointed in the seating. Put at a small table against two walls and was very cramped. Had to maneuver in and out
we have eaten here a few times and we have always had a great experience. The staff are friendly and efficient. Food is out of this world and because it was my wife'
s 75 birthday she enjoyed her free desert. we will definitely be back
I usually go to the Quadra Street Keg which is way more up to date with their decor. I thought the downtown Keg was quite dingy. I don’t go out for dinner often but love the Keg for the Oscar Sirloin! The twice baked potatoes are delicious as is the bernaise sauce and the seafood. This time I couldn’t even cut my steak it was so hard (asked for Medium) then when I sawed my way through I couldn’t even chew any bit of it aside from a tiny piece from the middle and chewed and chewed then just eventually swallowed. So unfortunately it was quite a disappointment especially for the price we paid for our meal. My husbands was good though and the kids enjoyed theirs. I mean your fries were way better than McDonalds! Haha. The service was great as well.
We we're happy of how we we're treated. The food was excellent. My daughter's birthday and she was happy and satisfied that we went to this place for a Family dinner.
Food was good, we each had same wine by glass, one was fine, other was obviously from a bottle that had been open for a while (it was awful, smelled and tasted bad)
We were not happy when we were seated by a wall both for four and not a window table that was available.
It seemed a big deal to move us to a window for two.
The prime rib was a good portion but not med well. Too rare and cold.
The lamb was lovely.
Very pricey for the amount of food we had.
Compared to the fantastic buffet we enjoyed at the Fireside Bistro, this was not any where near the value or variety or atmosphere.
Overall it was dark in the restaurant and in the staircase. No washrooms on second floor!
Just not that great.
Overpriced and under delivered.
Great service and unreal food. The previous table that we were supposed to have stayed longer then the restaurant had expected (which is out of the restaurants control) and the hosts, manager, and server were incredibly nice about it. They offered our entire table a free dessert which we weren’t expecting at all! Our food came quickly and was delicious. Our server Sam was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Overall just a great experience!
It was absolutely incredible! Leah the server was great and the hostess worked to try and seat us in a place that would be perfect for an anniversary dinner. All in all, highly recommended!
It was my wife's birthday and she had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the food and the service The View was fantastic.
We're long time Keg fans. Consistently good food. Service is friendly and usually prompt. If the steak isn’t what you asked for (which is a rare occasion) they are quick to remedy. Whether the downtown Keg or Keg at the winery (Quadra st) it’s to be counted on good food.
I used to eat at the Keg all the time the food was good and the service was excellent. I have not been to the keg in Victoria for years. I was visiting friends and we decided to go to the keg because it always was good value for the money. I was very disappointed with our visit the restaurant was very loud we couldn't have a conversation we had to request a chair because there wasn't enough room for our party to sit around the table. My brother In Law spilt a drink and we were left on our own to clean it up there were staff standing around, I felt the server was trying his best but needs more training. I also felt rushed through my dining experience. The food was subpar, I had steak Oscar and the sauce was too runny and the sea food was under cooked and the steak was tuff. My brothers prime rib was under cooked and raw. I also found the portion sizes were very small I remember the keg as a steak house were the portions were huge. I used to order the 26 oz mega keg size prime rib. I thought the keg used to have the best prime rib until I went to FRANKS in Cranbrook BC. I suggest that you send one of the owners of the keg to go there and eat to see what a steak house is suppose to be like. I did not complain at the time because I was using a give card a friend gave me for the keg. I will lie to them if they ask if I enjoyed my dinner so they wont feel bad. The best part of the dinner was desert. I also suggest you put more bc wine on the menu. I hope my review helps you fix the issues I found with this keg location. If not i suspect this location wont be open very long. KRIS JOSEFSSON
I always make a visit at least 2 a year to eat their fabulous prime rib. I absolutely love it. The restaurant can be quite crowded with a lot of vocal background noise, but you just ignore it.
Worst experience ever,we love the keg
But this was bad,my husband had to send his meal back
My meal was not good
We will never go back
Always great food! There are not only many options for the cut of steak but just as many add one and sides to go with it. The steak was cooked to perfection and my garlic mashed potatoes were the best!
Great location. Great food. Service was fantastic. Never dissappoints!
My chicken and my husbands steak were cooked perfectly!!!! They opened the blinds and you could see the sunset on the water. Beautiful.
I was given gif cards to the Kegg as Christmas gift from my client. It took me more than a year to find time for a dinner. But OMG that dinner was amazing! The Kegg is the first place in Canada that I really loved. It has a very intimate atmosphere, I felt very comfy. The food was delicious. I prefer chicken but first time in my life I regretted that I didn't order beef. I will definitely come back for beef.
Our server was wonderful and very helpful with selection for GF options (celiac). We we seated closer to the entrance so it was a bit noisier and had more foot traffic, but we still had a lovely time and didn't feel crowded. The food was excellent :)
Birthday dinner for my wife, good food and service, nice window table
Prime rib was a bit rare but they charred it to perfection for me!! Great service!
One suggestion would be to actually bring your lounge drink specials to the entire restaurant. It sits bad paying $2-4 more because we choose to sit upstairs.
From the moment we arrived to our departure, the experience was wonderful. Everyone was quite friendly. It was super busy but we never waited long for anything. The food was amazing, form the appy to main course. I highly recommend the Keg on Fort.
Perfect steak and lobster! My wife and I had an amazing time!
When I called to let the hostess know we were running 5 minutes late (their reservation policy is to hold the reservation for 15 minutes, so we still had lots of time) she said to me (and I quote), “you do realise you have to be out of here by 7:30 right?” Ummmm... WHAT?! She was incredibly rude. I almost turned around and went home, and it was a dinner to celebrate my Birthday with my family. Any way the waitress made up for it. She was lovely. When hiring younger girls for hostess positions, managers should be talking to them about the do’s and don’ts of customer service. They may also want to reconsider what they have these girls wearing?
Fantastic veiw of the inner harbor, service was good .
We had such a great time celebrating our Anniversary at The Keg in Victoria. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. We most certainly be back! Thank you!!!
We sat for 30 minutes before our order was taken. I ordered the prime rib medium rare. When it came it was blue and tough. My wife ordered a top sirloin which was dry. My wife’s coffee was cold and it took 30 minutes for the coffee to arrive as well. For the prices you pay the food should be top notch and so should the service.
The food was good. Love the cauliflower appetizer and the Brussel sprouts. Service was very slow which is quite unusual for this location...there just didn't seem to be enough wait staff. Our waiter was friendly but overworked.
