The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Calgary 4th Ave Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was very busy, and staff seemed to be somewhat disorganized. We were seated well past our reservation time. In the mean time, we had a drink in the lounge area, but to get a seat there there was also a wait list so had to stand in the entrance area of the lounge.
Appetizers were good and as expected. The main courses were a different story. The steaks were over cooked. We informed the waiter and he said he would check with the kitchen and be right back. 5 minutes later he still was not back. The manager just happened to be walking by at that point and asked how our meals were and we showed him that are steaks were way over done, and informed that our waiter was checking on it with the kitchen for the past 5 minutes. The manager did get our steaks replaced promptly (still no sign of the waiter though).
This location used to be very good both in food quality and in service. Like many things in life things change, and in this case it is not a good change.
Easy to book on a Friday night. It was busy and a bit loud near our table.
Service was wonderful and personable. Great menu. Food was delicious. Ordered a cocktail (old fashioned) that tasted sour and was rather suboptimal, but can't win them all. Overall, good experience.
Inconsiderate host (male in suit), I have a young son and 6, large adults and place us in a booth. Logically speaking, it doesn’t make sense; asked the host to put us in a more comfortable area and not only he wasn’t accommodating but he was rude. Server was great though.
Server was fantastic!
We used to love everything about this place esp. the steak. We notice though since we went there twice last year that the size of the steak looked smaller than what we ordered for, which makes it not worth the bucks we paid for. Feels like food doesn’t live up to the expectations anymore. The 12 ounce steak I ordered was small!
The food was excellent, however we were seated close to the entrance near a window and it was very cold, especially when the entrance door was opened. At one point I had to put my jacket on. The restaurant also ran out of brownie sundaes, which my wife and I like to share after our meal.
I've been to many Keg restaurants and thought they were so-so and a bit overpriced, but the Keg on 4th Ave. was amazingly well organized and all the staff were in exceptionally good humour on an extremely busy New Year's Eve. The food was perfectly cooked and good tasting. We had a wonderful time and didn't feel at all rushed.
The tables were very close so our neighbors conversation was quite loud to us. We were sitting a ways from the door yet kept getting a huge long draft each time it opened so I had my coat on most of the meal. Also, the steak was a bit overdone. The shrimp appetizer was good, a little crispy though. We definitely prefer the crowfoot location.
As what could be the most central location for a Keg in Calgary, this one is actually quite nice. The greeting staff were pleasant and cheerful, quick and efficient. Our party was ushered to our table a couple minutes prior to the reservation. The waitress was a treat. Made honest no nonsense recommendations and gave us an accurate account of our various plates in the queue. Busy night.
The food was normal keg standard. Well executed, everyone at our table enjoyed their meal.
The bill was really reasonable.
Would definitely go again. Our only complaint was how cold the restaurant was. Couldn't be helped as the city was -32 and the door for the hotel is common to the entrance of the keg.
We had an excellent server who made the evening most enjoyable. Food was little below par and the cold weather required some relocating within the restaurant (which the fellow doing the table assignment should have known). Other than that another good night at the Keg.
Thank you for making our mini early family Christmas dinner so fun! Our server, Ivy, was fantastic as well as the bartender (didn’t catch his name). Food was delicious and they easily accomadated my gluten and dairy allergy. Thanks for accepting our loud laughter (and joining in)! Happy holidays!
Got a great new position at work so decided to celebrate! Came in for our reso and were greeted and seated right away. Our server Randy was a bit delayed due to a small mix up at the front desk but that was quickly righted: The manager Britney came to see us and made everything perfect for us as well as comping our first drink orders because of the delay. She gave us her card and was friendly and genuine. Randy continued to serve us and was attentive and efficient even though The restaurant was jam packed. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was outstanding. I could drink a gallon of that Strawberry Champagne cocktail 😂😂 Can't wait to go again!
