My reservation was accepted, and a reminder received by me, but then an hour before the time of my reservation, I was informed the restaurant had closed. This was a Friday evening, and one of the busiest times of year in this city. Horrible way to go out!!!! No respect for owners of this establishment.
Restaurant was closed - after OpenTable allowed us to make a reservation (the name with -Permanently closed didn't show up until three days later).
Our bartender was awesome, made our cocktails exactly how we like them. Service was great, the cornbread is awesome, and our entrees were very good. The sampler dessert tray was the perfect finish. You need to try this place out!
We visit Asheville NC once a year and The Junction is a MUST place to dine. The food, atmosphere and services are fantastic!
Great service and a great meal.
the junction never fails to impress. inventive cuisine- pirogies and fried chicken livers, fresh fish, great service. the bar did an inventive job on two "mocktails" we ordered. always a fun place.
The Junction outperformed again at our latest visit. Solid cocktails, a variety of interesting and locally sourced entree options (the pan roasted fish was the biggest hit on this visit), really good appetizers (we had the cornbread and the poached pears this time). A little quieter and easier to access for parking than downtown restaurants if you aren't already walking around downtown). Have never been disappointed here, highly recommended.
The Junction did not disappoint. They were warm and friendly from the time we walked in until we left. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It was delicious and my daughter and I had a wonderful time.
We live in Asheville and have dined at many of the restaurants that get all of the press. The Junction is most definitely an unsung hero that deserves more attention. I was told by a foodie friend that they had the best meat and cheese plate in town, and it did not disappoint. What made it all the more special was Chef David's attention to detail and personal service. We wowed out-of-town friends with a meal one called the best he ever had anywhere. We'll definitely return for cocktails and small plates on a regular date night or with friends, and a larger full-out meal for a special occasion.
I live in Asheville and dine out often. We are blessed with many fine restaurants, and I rate the Junction among the best -- Creative food, excellent service, very good value and free and convenient parking.
The Junction never disappoints, but this meal was memorable. Our cocktails were spot on, just the way we like an old fashioned. Then we moved on to fried chicken livers on apple chutney (divine and perfectly cooked, which isn't easy) and pierogis with a delicious sour cream sauce. Then came red grouper, cooked just right, and tempeh-stuffed squash, both wonderful, as were the sides of braised cabbage and warm kale salad. The Junction truly lived up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Asheville -- where the competition is, to put it mildly, fierce.
Great food and the staff could not have been more welcoming or friendlier. I would highly recommend a night at the Junction.
We have been here several times and always have a wonderful experience. The food is creative, perfectly prepared, seasonal, fresh and you can't find a more friendly restaurant in Asheville from when you walk in until you leave. The lamb crepinette is fantastic , fish special which was grouper , was moist and expertly done. Save room for dessert! We did the sampler, all were good but the Pumpkin Roll was intensely flavored and imaginative, it was the best dessert I have had in years
In season the grilled peaches are to die for and a must order
Overall we had a nice meal here but there were some highs and lows. The fois gras corn dogs were great, the seafood bowl was fresh and tasty but the broth was not hot. The ny strip was unevenly cooked and a bit salty. The lamb crepinette was delicious and decadent. The ribs were also not served hot enough so seemed a bit lackluster but the corn pudding and corn nut garnish were really good . We were there later in the evening so maybe that is why some of the food was closer to room temp? Overall a cool spot that we would try again.
Great food and easy and free parking. Sat at a table in the bar as it is quieter than the dining room. Charles the owner is very solicitous and the bartender who served us was excellent. Good value too.
Great all around experience. Cool art work, creative farm to table, excellent service. Will definitely be back.
We have had dinner here many times with different friends and everyone always have a great time. The food is excellent, the owner is very friendly and attentive and the chef is outstanding.
Loved the Junction. We were greeted and seated soon after we mentioned we had an Open Table reservation. Great food, creative cocktails and a fun atmosphere. Would definitely return when we're in Asheville!
We continue to love The Junction. Innovative cuisine with fresh local ingredients. One of the latest items for the Summer has been the Donut and Hole - oh my gosh! - it is so good and one is plenty to share. Love Charles and his gang!
We had excellent dinner , we shared 4 appetizers and all were excellent, heirloom tomatoes melted in your mouth without empowerignd dressing, excellent casserole of sea food with unique taste and flavors, the bird with some millet was excellent. The raw tuna was same way with wonderful and unique flavors.
This is one of the best place in Asheville my husband and I recommend. Atmosphere is friendly, somewhat causal. Service was perfect and very friendly. It is nice to go in a restaurant where the flavors are the key of the meal and the chef try to innovate versus all other types of restaurants with similar dishes and flavors. I do not write to many feedback to restaurant , but this one rally derserved it!
I had the grilled peaches and they literally tasted like nothing.
The roasted potatoes that came with my burger were dry and somewhat under cooked.
Disappointed as this was my first time to dine here and had always heard it was fabulous.
Absolutely loved it! Fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere.
Must sample corn bread, chicken livers on chutney, shellfish bowl.
Another wonderful meal. We enjoyed a nice Pinot Noir with grilled peaches sitting on a bed of pistachios and shaved prosciutto. Delicious smoky flavor. One guest had the seafood bowl which is a beautiful presentation of mixed shellfish in a creamy broth with plenty of grilled bread for dipping. Also delicious. I tried the Greasy Beans with mushrooms and golden tomatoes, fantastic sophisticated spin on a comfort food. My friend had the Squash filled with a Sauced Hempeh with goat butter and Waldorf Broccoli. What a wonderful blend of flavors. The Watermelon salad, we all shared and loved. A great dining experience. We'll definitely return soon.
We always appreciate the creativity of the menu and how it highlights local food and whatever is in season. We also enjoy the cozy atmosphere. We know we are always in for a special meal when we dine here.
Outstanding menu - extremely eclectic and creative. Beautiful presentation, quality ingredients. A bit noisy and a little cramped, but worth going back again. When you wake up the next day still thinking about the food, you know it was really good.
Small plates are small. Everything was tasty and unique. Loved the atmosphere!
Could use help with a better variety of dessert and bigger glasses of water.
This place is awesome. Never had a bad meal here. My wife threw my 40th birthday party here and it was perfect. Check it out...
Greeted by name upon arrival. Waitress (Theresa) was attentive, efficient and fun. Ambience was hip and happy. Food was classy, different and tasty. A lovely evening.
Food, service and ambiance were fantastic. The menu options were all enticing. The chicken liver appetizer and the cornbread were a great starter. Hand-crafted cocktails were amazing. The ribs were very tasty; and, the fried chicken was fabulous.
This past Sunday was gorgeous - just that hint of the Fall that is coming - so we sat outside. Started with the RAD mimosas and a new sweet treat Donut and Hole - yummy! A perfect cooked cake donut with a coffee and cinnamon glaze served with raspberry jam, fresh raspberries and something crunchy like a cereal. Had the Veggie Hash - it's so good! The veggies are different depending on what is in season. My partner had the Chicken and Biscuit , like no other you've every had - shredded chicken on the biscuit topped with a tomato-okra sauce.
We told Charles we have never had a bad dish at The Junction and we love that everything has a slight twist.
Food is amazing , fresh and delicious every time. The staff is genuine and friendly. Must dine spot in Asheville.
We were blown away by how good our food was! The chef pays attention to details, and it shows! Everything was great, but one MUST get the cornbread. It was the best we had ever had--period!
First time. Food and service were amazing! Started with the Grilled Peaches and the Shellfish Bowl. Both were absolutely incredible. Had White Bass and Cured/Pressed Watermelon afterwards, and they were good. The smoked blueberry chili sorbet was absolutely ridiculous. I didn't know if I loved it or hated it on my first taste, but I realized it was so unique and craveable, I did love it. Finally, we had the sampler for dessert which is definitely the way to go. All 3 desserts were fantastic, though the doughnut with the seasonal jam was my personal favorite. Beer was cold and delicious and my wife had the Livin Easy cocktail which she said was delicious. We can't wait to come back and bring friends!
At the restaurant with my wife and friends who had never been there before. All of us enjoyed excellent entrees. Fried Chicken, white bass, smoked lamb and the Junction Burger. All highly recommended.
This was our last evening in Asheville and a friend suggested the River Arts District and The Junction. We loved both. The food was creative and the setting charming. The servers were warm and friendly. We would go back for sure!!!
We all enjoyed our food and loved sitting outside. Our waitress was very helpful and pleasant, as was the host.
The chef is awesome! And he'll come to your table to explain some of the food.
My husband and I were very pleased- a thoughtful menu and excellent food and service. We look forward to returning soon
It was an impromptu trip to Asheville to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I found this restaurant on Opentable and selected based on reviews. I was intrigued by its location in the River Arts District. I was really happy with my choice. I liked how they adapted an older property for a hip place. The food was excellent, a little eclectic but within an acceptable range for someone who has a more traditional taste. Tomato Season Salad was very fresh and tasty. I had California white bass that came with an interesting mix of vegetables/salad greens and my boyfriend settled for New York strip with a German potato salad. We both loved what we got. The waiter was efficient and attentive. I suspect the place can be noisy but we did not have issues that night. Overall, I would definitely come back or recommend.
