   Table service was slow very young inexperienced staff who tried hard. Food was really good some roast potatoes a bit hard. Great fresh veg asked for more and they came quickly. A big improvement on the last 12 months.

   We have met friends here for lunch a number of times, but this wasn’t our best experience unfortunately. Our table was in a smallish room with low ceiling and families with small children already there - not their fault, but the noise level was uncomfortable. Starters were good, but three of us chose beef for the main course and it was poor— - very tough and hard to cut, with a lot of fat and gristle. Our waitress was very helpful and reported this to the Manager and then came back to say that we would be given 50% of the cost of the beef meals. That seemed fair, but we’d have preferred to have been able to eat and enjoy it.

   Starter of goats cheese tart was actually half a tart. Roast beef dinner was just OK. I asked if I could have extra sauce on my sticky toffee pud which I did get but had a half sized portion of sponge instead! Thought that very mean !

   Lovely setting, food was hot and nicely presented. Thought it was expensive for what we had especially when paying for chips to have with meal etc. Would have liked after dinner mints with bill. But liked the ambience and staff very attentive

   Food, beer and wine choice excellent, very high quality. The service was appalling. Waited at the bar to be served even though we had booked a table, there were no other customers in. Eventually got shown to our table. Nobody took a drinks order, I had to go to the bar, food excellent and served promptly, nobody asked if everything was okay. Asked for a desert menu, nobody came to take our order so gave up in the end, paid the bill, had to go to the bar to do this as. 6 staff on, all more intent on chatting than looking after customers, it wasn’t even busy as it was 6pm on a Saturday night! Shame as if service had been adequate would have got at least 4 stars.

   They were very accommodating about our late arrival, due to traffic, and the starter for my friend came without delay. Unfortunately, the main course was extremely slow in arriving, although not all tables were taken and there were plenty of waiting staff around. The sweet arrived without delay, so overall it was okay. I could not recommend the Jockey, due to the extreme delay (30+ mins) in producing the main course.

   We came for Mother’s Day and from the moment we arrived we felt rushed. Our drinks arrived after our main course (we didn’t order starters) and then the roast beef arrived and it was the thickest slab of roast beef we have all ever seen! It was tasty but very tough and the sides of vegetables were all overcooked and looked pretty unappetising. The empty tables around us were all left with dirty glasses and or plates and it didn’t make it feel special. We have eaten here a few times and the food has been good but this time was pretty awful so we won’t be rushing back! Such a shame as it used to be lovely for Sunday lunch.

    Last weekend lunch - very very long wait for what was luke warm average food - apologies from staff blaming the new chef and nibbles promised while we waited but never arrived. Worst of all a used table which remained so throughout our entire visit - we saw staff remove unused cutlery from the used table and put it back in the trays. When I finally received my pudding I gave my spoon a good look and wipe. The staff were very lucky that customers didn't complain loudly about the delays - a reflection of maybe past performance and country folk. If a new chef is installed a reduced headcount might of been an idea I suggest. I hate to think what went on for mother day Sunday lunch! A 2 course meal took 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 hours. It was really quite poor. It1ll be a while before I return

    Brought my mum for an early Mother’s Day meal. Hake Thai green curry was lovely but service was terribly slow. After a 40min wait for deserts, we left having not been served. Only one lad waiting on tables.

    The food really isn’t what it used to be. Scallop starter very over priced for what was served. One pot chicken main was dry Fish and chips over cooked Banana creme brûlée was the tinest of portions. Literally about 2mm deep. Couldn’t work out what was served with it. Ice cream in both desserts was cheap, very poor quality. Used to love The Jockey, it used to be top notch but, sadly, it is pretty average pub food now. Raised with the waitress how poor the scallops were, she apologised and that was that.

    This was our first visit to the Jockey since the change in ownership last year but it certainly won’t be our last. The Sunday lunch was tasty and the portions generous and we were seated in the main restaurant which had a good ambience.Overall, a very enjoyable lunchtime experience!

    Food and restaurant was lovely. Staff very friendly but small details missed, tables not cleared, soup spoons and stake knives not provided with food and butter not provided with bread. Minor details but made a difference between a good experience and an excellent one.

    Food was average and did not reflect the price. Roast potatoes were hard and main dish was not very warm, except the vegetables. The desert was average, the brownie should have been served with salted caramel ice cream but was served with rum and raisin ice cream. To be fair we didn’t complain at the time as it was a genuine mistake.

    The staff knew little about the menu. The food was under seasoned but it’s a nice pub and convivial. It is what you would expect, not fine dining, just pub food presented very nicely

    Really nice venue we were unfortunately in the limbo land of mid afternoon Sunday lunches where the potatoes and the veg have been hanging around a bit ..starter was great .. roast potatoes dtc could have been a bit fresher ..having said that I would go back but probably target slightly earlier not 3 45 ..

    I have used the Jockey many many times and it continues to be a very pleasant eatery. The venue and its operators hit the correct note refined but not pretentious, courteous and professional staff that are not just following the steps in an an operations manual. As with all good establishments it's popular so book early.

    Super food, from starter to dessert - we actually loved it all and will be back having spread the news amongst friends and more family. It’s definitely welcome back to the jockey . Food all piping hot and so many veg! We had the Sunday roast and couldn’t fault it!

    Amazing flavours across the whole menu. Great portion sizes, excellent value for money. Lovely comfortable venue with lots of different seating options of a variety of spaces. Will return again having already eaten there three times.

    Loved the Jockey and would certainly go again. We felt there should have been more serving, they did seem to be a bit stretched and in 1.5 hours we had only been served our main and I had to ask for a dessert menu. Always difficult at Xmas though and everyone was really lovely and super place to eat.
