Excellent service and devine food. Would definitely return or recommend to friends.
On the whole not a bad experience and the food was excellent however we both found the service patronising rather than genuine. We may have only been a table for two but percentage wise we spent the same if not more than the larger tables around us so would have expected the same level of service. We were given our bill twice although we had not asked for it and had moved to the bar for snacks and more Prosecco after our luncheon. There were empty bar seats available so we were not overstaying our ‘slot’ although we were made to feel we were. There is poor airflow which allows the build up of a strong fishy smell when you first enter and we found the restaurant noisier than your original. A partition at entry may be kinder to your guests near the entrance as we watched them shiver each time a new customer came in and held the door open for others to follow. With coats being taken at this point a backlog ensued with the doors being left open even longer! Brrrrrrr!
Lovely shepherd pie! Bit on the small side and should come with some veg but the gravy is delicious.
Busy as always and initial service especially drinks a bit on the slow side but food amazing as ever. Only disappointment bang bang chicken was not on the menu, creme brûlée and steak amazing as always
A special birthday lunch in a wonderful environment. We were on a busy schedule and the waiting staff made it happen in terms of a swift service. Beautifully done. They even provided a little birthday cake. Fabulous
Young and opinionated staff but they tried hard to please. Nice all the same
The problem was it was very cold in their not a god ambiance
Great food, which is good value for money will definitely recommend
Wonderful evening. Relaxing ambience, good food and service
Great food, initially disappointing as they tried fitting five people on a small table meant for four but once raised with the staff, they accommodated accordingly.
Pre booked, table ready, coats and cases taken care of, prompt and cordial service by our waiter who was very personable. Fabulous pink gin, very tasty shepherds pie with an assortment of green vegetables with extra gravy delicious mmmm. The best apple tart flambéed to perfection with vanilla ice cream. My only one small criticism is we had a table close to the door and a blast of cold air shot in every time the door was opened..... which was often. This would not stop me coming again though . Look forward to returning soon x Joanne
Four taking a late lunch at the Ivy Market Grill, excellent round table booked online a couple of days prior. We all had the 'Brunch' Shepherd's Pie, very tasty with 3 veg sides accompanied by the house Rosé. Perfect attentive service too.
I already recommand your place to my French friends!
Even on a cold crisp winter morning, the outside terrace - which is very well heated - is the best spot for breakfast or brunch. Superb full English and full Vegetarian dishes enjoyed, plus juices and delicious hot chocolate.
Wonderful breakfast at the Ivy Market Grill.
Food and service both excellent
It's difficult to say. I have been a few times which have always been good. This time we arrived early and asked if we could sit in the bar but were told very abruptly no we are full go away and come back later.
Food was ok nothing special but pricey enough. My husband had the special which was Venison, very small portion for £30. My Chicken Milanese was bland. We don't mind paying for a nice meal but this wasn't great. there were 4 of us and we spent £320.
Great food, reasonably priced too... love it there.
We booked a table for four at 7 pm. We were asked to give up our table at 8:15 pm because it was ‘needed’. The maitre d basically ruined our evening by pushing us out. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect when you book a table at 7 pm that it remains yours until you are finished. We were not even offered compensation in a free drink or coffee.
Birthday dinner - lovely food and experience
Lovely food service & busy buzzy atmosphere etc. Had booked a table for 6.30pm but was hounded by a member of staff to leave from just before 8pm as they wanted the table back, even though 'allowed' 2 hours for dinner when pre-book a table. (Walk-ins only allowed 1.5 hrs apparently).
Arrived 30 minutes early on Saturday evening. Very busy, but taken to a table straight away. Amazing.
Food excellent as usual (3rd visit). Would recommend to anybody.
Food, service and ambiance great as usual BUT the table we were at eas squeezed in both sides and we were too tight to our neighbours. Wnen the person on the inside wanted to go to the washroom our neighbours on both sides had to move their tables. This really needs to be looked at as it was not a comfortable experience.
This is a real treat. Good food, great service and perfect location.
Lovely place, food was flawless, service was even better. Truly can't fault this restaurant, location, food service all outstanding.
Excellent food and service however we were lucky to have a table at the back of the restaurant as this area was warm.
The front of the restaurant was cold and tables very close together.
First class service, and excellent food.
Will go back again soon.
Great food, lovely ambience though dimmed lighting a bit off putting for daytime dining. Noisy but expected it to be so due to huge numbers of dining customers. Excellent food and service. Table time of 2 hours was much appreciated. Good value for money.
Lovely lunch and really nice touch to bring my mum a little cake out as it was her birthday. It’s always the details that make the difference. The Ivy is consistently excellent wherever you go.
I have been to the Ivy Market Grill twice before and was extremely happy with the food and service. However, on this occasion my friend and I were both a little disappointed. The restaurant was extremely busy, perhaps due to Christmas shoppers. In fact it was so busy they had opened two of the rooms downstairs which are usually not used. We both felt our meals were not up to the usual standard, i.e. food was luke warm although beautifully presented, and the same with the coffees. I do believe this was due to too many customers and not enough staff to serve the food whilst hot.
I would recommend the Ivy Market Grill to friends, but would suggest they did not go during busy Christmas shopping weeks.
As scored I was happy with the service, atmosphere and food and wine was overall good for my partner. Apart from my fish cake which was burnt and the inside was difficult to eat as it was too solid in texture. If the peas were meant to be puréed they weren’t. Just a plate of peas. This surprised me as we have been to the Ivy in Marlow a number of time and the fish cake was delicious hence the reason I ordered it. I did send it back and it deducted from our bill. We were there for lunch and did buy a couple of bottles of wine but it did ruin the experience for me in london. I was offered another one but it had put me off ordering more food at that point.
Arrived early but this wasn’t a problem and were seated straight away.
Staff very pleasant, always a good start.
Maybe too much choice regarding food but very good.
Service also good.
Prices reasonable, even for someone from up north!
The steak i ordered was wrongly cooked twice. There was no apology. Nothing was taken off the bill. Moody staff.
Lovely meal with great attentive service, food was reasonably well priced.
Another fantastic meal, great surroundings with great service.
Once slight criticism, and no fault of The Ivy, was that because it was a miserable night for weather, every time the front door and the door towards the outside terrace, were opened it was so cold for those diners in restaurant. We wer3 a little chilly.
Great venue to eat in central London
Delicious food, fantastic service and great atmosphere. We only had 45 minutes as we had to leave for a show and the staff were incredibly accommodating.
It was my 60th birthday present & the staff& food made the evening feel a special event
A great pre theatre meeting place and menu. The staff were quick to sort out an issue with our main meal and compensated us with free coffee. The most delicious cocktails.
Food amazing. Service very good, a lot quicker than I expected. Cold when door was held open, sometimes for rather long periods of time but overall a wonderful evening
Beautiful Experience from the minute we walked in the front door. I was dining with my daughter for a birthday treat and everyone was fantastic. The food was amazing , the ambience was perfect , I was presented with a small cake with a candle as my daughter told the waiter it was my birthday. The attention to detail was fabulous. A wonderful experience in a beautiful restaurant . ThankYou
Lovely restaurant..definitely recommend it...i would go back again.good food and wine.excellent service
