Ivy Kensington Brasserie
Sample our extensive range of quality food and delicious cocktails at your leisure from breakfast until late, whether you are a local resident, work close by or are visiting some of London’s best loved landmarks such as The Royal Albert Hall.
Our garden terrace is situated at the back of our restaurant and provides the perfect respite away from the hustle and bustle of the high street. Adorned with flowers and foliage, it is the perfect spot to soak up the sun during the summer months. Due to the nature of British summer our terrace cannot be booked ahead, so please just pop in.
Open seven days a week and comprised of a main restaurant, bar and a semi-private table for ten for an extra special experience, The Ivy Kensington Brasserie provides the perfect setting for any occasion.
It was a wonderful experience for me and my friend celebrating joint significant birthdays, especially as the restaurant wasn’t prepared-warned so we knew the experience was genuine and it would be the same at any other time.
Great food, great service, will certainly return. The truffle red wine jus was a highlight.
Lovely ambience felt very Christmassy possibly a bit too early! But very charming on a cold wet Saturday.
We were promptly sitter at a nice central table with lovely linen tablecloth and serviettes.
We ordered the Truffled Wild Mushrooms as a shared starter and we were glad we did as it was so rich and filling, beautiful flavours.
Mains were Salmon and Smoked Haddock Fishcake and Grilled Sea Bass fillet. Both were very good with possibly too much potato in the Fishcake, sides were green beans with roasted almonds and Truffle Parmesan chips. Both were lovely.
Desserts were Frozen berries with yoghurt and a warm chocolate sauce, and Apple Tart.
A lovely experience, good value, we are scheduled to return later this month.
Amazing food..decor ..drinks...service ...will definitely come again
Fabulous restaurant, not expensive, great food and exceptional service.
Booked a table for 2 people @ 16:00hrs, as it was the first time there the weather was terrible, I asked a shop for directions which sent me to a side street which had a board outside for the Ivy, went in to the side door and booked in stating I had a table booked for 2 people, the waiter did not understand very well but sat me and my wife to a table for two, at this point we were in the terrace which due to the poor weather was very cold, they had heaters on and blankets on the seats for you to wrap around yourselves. Food was very good and felt good value for money, just disappointed the waiter did not direct us to the correct restaurant. I would visit again only to experience the correct side, I would think the terrace would be nice in the summer.
Had a nice window table, good waiter (Bez) and great food and atmosphere 👍
Had a brilliant evening with attentive but non intrusive service . Great format with so many smaller dishes we enjoyed eating. Lovely wine list too.
Friendly staff, wonderful service and the most wonderful food I have tasted for a very long time. .. the perfect evening ❤️
The food was nice but I've eaten at better places for the same price. The service was slow and miserable. Coffee was lukewarm. The restaurant does have a cheery atmosphere and was comfortable for brunch.
Always convivial. Noise level high. Small bathrooms. Food predictable. Service can be strained.
Food ok. Still puzzled as to why the lobster linguini was pointlessly brought to the table in a copper pan them dumped on my plate. Also, too much sauce as Italians would tell you if you asked. Cheese board fabulous. Waiter supercilious and behaved as if job was beneath him.
Really unpleasant experience. Unfortunately I made transport error and arrived late- though I had phoned to explain. When I arrived the receptionist berated me publicly and warned me she wouldn’t hold a table again for me. If she’d told me she had to release table I would totally have understood. Anyway we sat down . Service was poor. The waiter didn’t understand the concept of two starters instead of starter and main. The duck salad was so chopped you’d have needed a spoon to consume. My prawns were delicious. The scallops were lovely but the purée was tepid. The wine didn’t arrive- I got up to find it and was then tasted white wine that was warming- it had been “ chilled” in melted ice water. The ice was replaced in the bucket but the wine was set on top so no chilling effect. Guests either side of us( too close) were experiencing similar difficulties . We asked for the bill. Then some eccentric posturing being fawned over us while pouting and whining in the most absurd manner tried to persuade us to stay. We couldn’t wait to get out. Big deal was made of service charge being removed - I wouldn’t have paid it anyway. I’ve dined in the Delaunay, Wolseys- super- this was poor. I was actually embarrassed as I was treating my daughter who was en route from Lisbon to Amsterdam
Fabulous food and ambience as always! Will definitely be returning
Our waiter was on the ball, front of house staff not so much had to ask them to take our coats. The. Tables are too close together, so much so that as we sat down we caught the table cloth and the salt and pepper fell on to the floor.
Delightful server. Made the evening!
Good food. Attractive venue.
Service efficient, though waiters surly and humourless.
Fantastic meal! Such amazing service (our waiter..Gaetano ...the perfect host!) The wine list here is also top notch. Would recommend this branch highly.
Great place with delicious food and quick service!
Food and service were excellent. However it is so noisy it is difficult to have a conversation.
Classy and charming environment. I met a colleague who was visiting from abroad. The service and the food, plus the beautiful decor gave that extra kick to the evening and helped leaving a positive memory to my guest.
The service finally is remarkable impeccable.
Delicious food and nice atmosphere , the desserts should be taste, all fanyastic
The room is welcoming and the staff ere good, but the food was disappointing, compared with the Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden. I recommended the courgette fritti, but they weren't at all crispy. The arancini were delicious. Our shepherd's pies were OK, as was the hamburger but not great and the french beans were hard (much harder than al dente). The creme brulee was delicious.
Was all very average and feel like I could’ve had the same meal at my local Miller and carter for half the price. Staff accommodated our early arrival and greeting was very good.
table was cramped and loud, food was fine but no more than fine and service was somewhat slow (in terms of taking ordered and clearing the table between courses).
We still had a nice enough meal but I feel that this particular ivy falls far short of the experiences that we’ve had at both the Chelsea and Brighton restaurants in the chain.
Probably wouldn’t bother returning in all honesty
I arrived with my 9 yr old son for a quick lunch. I mentioned as soon as we were sat down we had a short amount of time. After 10 minutes I had to attract the attention of a waiter as everyone seemed to just ignore us. Everything after that was excellent, food and service. This did just cast a slight shadow on the lunch but wouldn't stop us going back again.
Everything was great.
The only comment I would make is that the portions are fairly small and there should be side vegetables or potatoes on main course dishes (excluding the curry) considering the cost of the main courses.
Food and service good … a nice environment, although pretty noisy … not somewhere to go if you want a quiet conversation!
I like the atmosphere and the high level of service.
Our waiter was rather rude and abrupt with little knowledge on food allergies and intolerances. Food was well presented and tasty however not a pleasant dining experience thanks to the waiters’ abrasive attitude.
We are never disappointed with our visits - excellent staff & consistent high level of the food.
I have notice that every time I have booked and arrived with colleagues or friends we are place by he toilets of in the Garden Terrace. I book this place because it is near to where I work and handy for meeting clients. If I book again I will refuse to sit near the ladies toilets!
The venue is really nice in s prominent place for the Royal Albert Hall. I had the seam bream it was cooked to perfection.
Wonderful meal at the Ivy Kensington brasserie with cosy ambience, friendly and attentive staff and good food.
We loved tempura prawns and lobster risotto and main shepherd pie and rabbit pie were delicious.
It was first time here and definitely will go back very soon.
Management is doing an outstanding job as everything was perfect.
I am long-term regular customer of Ivy Kensington. Regular means I am there almost every day or sometimes even twice a day since it is very convenient to reach from my office.
Despite I really like the place I would like to make a complaint with regards to the table service that is almost non-existent and continue to get even worse.
Regardless of how busy the place actually is you can literally sit there for hours without being approached by waiter or any other staff member to order or to replace plates or even to pay.
If anyone from Ivy Ken ever read this reviews please do something about it as it really spoils the overall impression.
Nowadays service is everything.
Good environment and efficient service. Food was good and promptly served
Fantastic food, service, ambience.
CHEEKY MANAGEMENT though who don’t pay the service charge to their staff - BEWARE. If you pay service in cash, the staff should hopefully get this.
Excellent atmosphere. Nice welcome. Good service. However. Table is too close to neighboring table so you have to be careful of conversation. Otherwise excellent
A lovely breakfast. Can have just a few nibbles or lots of options. Far more than standard breakfast options. Beautiful. Staff perfect and not too invasive ....no constant revisits to table checking things but attentive and available when needed.
Lovely food but the service wasn't great.
Waitress had huge difficulties understanding what the table next to us (they wanted to take away the remainder of their afternoon tea, and she made a huge fuss about it for ages, before going off, then coming back and apologising and doing as they'd asked). It was hard to get her attention to order drinks (when we did receive them the Bloody Mary was very overly salty, however this was replaced without any fuss and the replacement was very tasty). The water bottle we had was taken away when empty, but not replaced and we had to ask a couple of times before more water was brought over.
I'd have liked to order another cocktail, but the waitress wasn't available to ask and then it was time for us to go.
At the end of the meal it took forever to get the waitress' attention to get the bill (we were heading to a Concert so needed to leave). Once it was brought we asked to put £x on one card and the remainder on the other but she split it 3 ways. Not sure if this was a language barrier or just not listening properly?
So yes, would recommend as the food is always excellent and the restaurant itself is lovely, but the service was disappointing and not up to the usual standard.
