The Ivy Inn Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We wanted everything on the menu, & everything we ordered was beautiful & delicious! We all had appetizers yet still ordered 2 orders of another just so we all could try it! Our waiter went out of the way to create 6 different mini-appetizers of that choice, & amazed us all! Superb service, delicious coffee, & divine desserts......
We have enjoyed dinners at the Ivy Inn many times in the 20 years we have lived in Charlottesville. Angelo & Farrell have created a welcoming dining experience. Always our first choice for local dining.
This time we were with my husband’s golfing friends. Jessica, who makes serving a table of 7 look easy, was our server. My rock fish with oysters could not have been better. My husband enjoyed the perfectly prepared duck.
We highly recommend the Ivy Inn!
Our evening at the Ivy Inn was wonderful. Our server was very attentive—not rushing us or hovering. We had plenty of time to enjoy appetizers before the fabulous entrees arrived. We are never disappointed with Angelo’s mastery in the kitchen and his staff’s service.
This was the first time we visited The Ivy Inn, and it was delightful -- very quiet, attentive but not intrusive service, focus on local food sources. All that we ate (from soup to dessert) was excellent. We would happily return when we are in Charlottesville again.
The restaurant provided outstanding courses on a date that has many restaurants performing below par. We dined on New Year's Eve. All courses presented were delicious. We each had a different main course which were exceptional. The Rockfish with Chowder, Beef Tenderlion, Stuffed Pork Chop and Bison Short Ribs were cooked to perfection. Excellent wait staff too! We will make sure to establish reservations again next New Year's Eve.
We weren’t extremely hungry so we had soup.. he had the lobster bisque over a cauliflower flan and it was amazing! I had the butternut squash soup and it was like none I’ve ever had! We also had the shrimp and grits.....everyone should have this at least once in a lifetime. And we had the butternut squash ravioli....to die for...brown butter to perfection! We will be back!
My Husband and I chose The Ivey Inn for an anniversary dinner while on a trip to Charlottesville to visit Monticello. We were seated at a table with ambiance and our server was aware we were there for a celebration. We shared an appetizer and enjoyed two great entrees and a bottle of wine.
Most memorable ever. Our wedding anniversary, with great thanks to Angelo and his incredible team-. From the welcome on arrival, acknowledging our special event to the glass of celebratory champagne to perfectly prepared entrees ending with creme brulee. Great courtesy and quiet conversation with wait staff- you're amazing.
We are so very fussy when it comes to dining out. We prefer to splurge if it means having a memorable, delicious meal. Would rather eat an omelette at home than have a mediocre meal at some chain restaurant. The Ivy Inn exceeded all our expectations. The menu was local ingredients & the course choices varied. Some entrees we'd never seen before and our server answered all our questions easily. It was a birthday celebration & our name was printed at the top of our menus. Fun touch! All in all, a fine dining experience without the pricey cost it would have been elsewhere. Highly recommend!
Our experience at The Ivy Inn was outstanding. When I informed them that it was my wife's birthday, they prepared special menus for us, as well as a beautiful dessert plate with her name in chocolate drizzle. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the soups, salads, entrees, and desserts were exemplary. A wonderful place to spend a special occasion. We'll definitely be back.
Visited this restaurant for the second time in the last year. Each time the experience has been outstanding with quality food and great ambiance. The service is also exceptional and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a unique dining experience.
Simon our waiter was outstanding as he graciously made key recommendations which highlighted the Chef’s culinary skill. We were outside on this very cold day & Simon personally made us 2 hot toddies (not on bar menu). They were exceptional. My salmon & my hubby’s Duet Lamb we’re scrumptious. Order the oyster stew for app if it’s still offered! A wonderful night with an outstanding waiter! We’ll be back next time in town!
Highly recommended. Excellent food; good service; nice ambiance in an old and historic house. Can be a bit noisy now and then but, overall, tolerable. Menu has a few old "standards" but is seasonal and based on quality, locally sourced products. Wine list is good. Not overwhelming with a nice variety of bottles in all price ranges. Went for a surprise birthday party and it was really nice. Staff made the honoree feel special! Best, high end, quality dining in Charlottesville.
Lovely spot for a holiday dinner. Service was attentive but allowed for a relaxing evening. Three of four diners chose beef tenderloin which was cooked perfectly. The 4th chose with the server’s recommendation the Osso Bucco and was also greatly enjoyed.
This evening out may have been the best dining experience of my life; certainly in the top few. My brother was in town visiting and we had that to celebrate as well as some catching up to do. Thanksgiving was approaching and we considered this our holiday dinner as well.
We both had fish entrees; halibut and salmon. Both were exquisitely prepared, combining interesting flavors and textures with aplomb. The local apple-pear cobbler we both had for dessert was delicious beyond the ability of my vocabulary to describe. High compliments all around to the kitchen.
Also of note was the superb service, which was expertly paced and knowledgeable without being obtrusive. The waiter served the wine very professionally. He was friendly and professional in measures which enhanced the meal. Kudos to our waiter and his colleagues on the service staff.
We were seated upstairs in a small dining room which was perfect for our evening plans. Conversation in the room was quiet but affable and lively. ( We surmised that William Faulkner may have written and/or slept there while the house was his residence...)
A wonderful and memorable evening of sublime dining pleasure! Thanks to all at The Ivy Inn!
From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Our waiter gave us just the right level of attention. The drinks and menu were imaginative spins on the classics. Our group had a grand time passing tastings around. While I thought the shrimp and grits was a standout, a touch of smokiness on the shrimp over grits that were rich and creamy, everything I tasted (and I tasted everything) was outstanding.
