This was my party’s first restaurant experience since March and the Covid shut down, and it was a great occasion at the Ivy Inn. The food and service were excellent from start to finish. Started with wonderful shrimp and grits — uncomplicated, letting the shrimp and simple sauce shine on a bed of toothsome Wade’s Mill grits with a little crunch of fried onions rings on top. This was followed by a luscious crab cake, fat with crab meat and little else, topped by a dollop of tartar and surrounded by an artful drizzle of remoulade, complementary but not overpowering as some can be. The accompanying green beans were a surprising supporting star— the best I have ever had. My guest had she crab soup and lamb chops, and raved about both. We closed a yummy with warm peach and blackberry crumble with silky ice cream — a perfect goodbye to Virginia peach season. We very much appreciated the careful attention to distancing and masked staff. A super experience in a lovely setting.
This was our third time dining at The Ivy Inn, but the first in quite some time. They are doing well with Covid restrictions. The food was fantastic! We truly enjoyed our evening with friends. We would highly recommend.
Lauren C was our server, she was great. Food was flawless, flavor explosions w every bite....great restaurant.
The Ivy Inn has long been a quiet oasis in a sometimes chaotic college town. The food is well prepared, reasonably priced and the menu is varied. The mushroom medley and shrimp & grits are especially good appetizers and the carrot cake is an outstanding dessert. The service is consistently good. They have adapted very nicely to social distancing policies of Virginia and I recommend them very highly.
My birthday dinner was outstanding!
Incredible as always!! If you’ve never been there , go!
Went here for my anniversary. Everything was fantastic! Cute little restaurant, amazing food, and top-notch service! Will certainly be coming again.
Dinner on the patio felt very safe with tables spaced out and plenty of ventilation. Our meal was superb and the service provided by our waiter Jason M. was extraordinary. The Ivy Inn is truly the best dining experience in Charlottesville.
Love the ambience, service and food. I had an interview excellent sirloin with a savory onion baked in a square and nice crisp potatoes.
This was our first time dining there. The lamb was some of the best I’ve had. Would recommend!!
We love to visit the Ivy Inn whenever we are in Charlottesville. We usually go twice. Michael and Lauren are exceptional and the food is divine! It's a very special place with expert staff!
We dined at the Ivy Inn Restaurant for my sister's 50th birthday. Everything was amazing from start to finish! Two days later we are still talking about the food. Standouts were the Shrimp and Grits appetizer, Beef Tenderloin, Pork Chop and pretty much every dessert (there were six of us, so we had one of each!) Highly recommend!
We have never had a bad or even unpleasant experience in dining, service, at the Ivy inn. Superb restaurant. Highly recommend.
Such a lovely place, filled with delicious aromas in every corner. The patio was so charming & service was great. We LOVED the crispsy pork belly, crab cakes & grilled Angus beef tenderloin. Highly recommend & a must visit!
Lovely meal of crab cakes and gnocchi on the Ivy Inn patio! Covid precautions were in place and we felt very safe.
Every single item on the menu sounded delicious. We tried everything we could and it was all excellent quality.
Fantastic meal and Glenda provided excellent service! Thank you so much!
The service was impeccable. The food was amazing. We were seated upstairs. It was quiet...almost too quiet (great soft music playing) and very romantic. The food was superb. We had the lamb chops and beef tenderloin, shrimp and scallop ceviche. Will definitely return.
This was an exceptional meal with exceptional service.
This was a phenomenal restaurant! My husband and I went there for our 5-year wedding anniversary and they spoiled us from start to finish. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Everything we ordered was delicious. Our only disappointment is it was our anniversary and we'd made reservations for outside but they only had an inside table in a dark room when we arrived. If it wasn't a special occasion, we would not have stayed but were afraid we'd be unable to eat anywhere else. I think if outside is not available the restaurants should make sure guests know.
The Ivy Inn was perfect. To start we had the She Crab Soup and Salmorejo. Then for appetizers we tried the Crispy Pork Belly and Gnocchi Bolognese. Our entrees were Grilled Trout and Heirloom Tomato Pie. Finally for dessert we shared the Peach & Blackberry Crisp. We did not walk away hungry :)
The food was absolutely delicious and expertly prepared. The service was great as well. They had impeccable attention to detail and made our anniversary dinner very special. Highly recommend!
We love this restaurant. The service and food are excellent. They also are very acommodating to allergies or special requests. They have an interesting cocktail menu and we love the lamb, trout and gnocchi.
Another outstanding date night with my lovely wife. The food was again superb, the service excellent and the ambiance perfect for conversation. Another wonderful evening at the Ivy Inn.
Can’t believe I hadn’t been to the Ivy Inn before! Every dish was fantastic, from appetizers, to salads, to pasta, to mains and dessert. Their rotating menu is great, so you can always go back and try something new. We had empanadas, mushrooms, gnocchi and the tenderloin- all perfectly cooked with fantastic flavor.
Super friendly staff and a nice relaxing environment even during these covid times.
Grabbed extra food to go for take and bake which was also fantastic - great Greek food!
We really enjoyed all the entrees we ordered. Service was appropriate and setting was genteel and quiet. If I lived I Charlottesville, this would be a regular spot.
I was so pleased that the Inn was open again for dining. Service is always friendly and attentive. Food is creative and on point and cocktails and wines are interesting. Ivy Inn is a gem that you will not want to miss on your trip to Charlottesville.
I can see why this is rated the number 1 restaurant. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The shrimp and grits were the best I have ever had, so creamy and flavorful. The she crab soup was a little tomato based which is different from what I was used to. Still good though. The filet mignon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The scalloped potatoes had such amazing flavor and melted in your mouth. The trout was so flavor and flaky and pairing it with the summer succotash was perfection. A very light meal bursting with freshness and flavor. We absolutely loved our server Teresa. She was on-point, anticipated our needs and had a phenomenal personality.
Daughter’s 25th Birthday. Delicious! I brought a cake and they served it for only $2 extra.
Amazing Meal! Delicious crab cakes, shrimp and grits, trout, And She-crab soup. You will not be disappointed if you dine here.
Loved everything about the restaurant. The service was awesome! Glenda was perfect on service and recommendations. If you are in Charlottesville, go to the Ivy Inn
Best restaurant in Charlottesville
God food good service. We go there regularly. Always worth it.
We love the Ivy Inn. The selections are always interesting and delicious! Our server was wonderful and was a cozy atmosphere. The whole experience was relaxing.
As always, the experience was wonderful! With COVID they took all the precautions for outdoor dining. I thought the tables were a little close inside but on the patio they were perfect and that is what we had requested. It was a nice evening for it.
The food and service were superb. This was probably the best meal we ate at in the Charlottesville area.
Great attention to detail, solid food without being fussy, service was above reproach.
Wonderful as always!
Exceptional from start to finish.
