Not such a special occasion as just our group having dinner after our quarterly board meeting in Charlottesville. Some of us travel up from Richmond and to make it an enjoyable outing we have been having dinner before we drive back. We have been to the Ivy Inn twice now and have learned to make reservations before we come. The food is outstanding. The noise level is not loud like so many other places and it was very delightful overall. Thank you!
We’ve had my daughter’s birthday dinner at the Ivy Inn two years in a row and it’s a fantastic place for a special occasion. Great service, delicious food and love the ambiance. Highly recommend!
Dining at The Ivy Inn is always a pleasure. The food is inventive, very well prepared and presented, and the portions generous. The wine selection is broad and very reasonably priced. The service is perfect; the atmosphere genial but conversation friendly. One couldn’t ask for a better dining experience.
Date night out. We ordered the Brussel sprouts off the sides as an appetizer - they were wonderful.
Hope they add these to the "First" section as they work very well as a starter!
Food and server were excellent as usual. Definitly recommend for any occasion.
Always a first class experience. Outstanding in every respect.
Our server was very attentive to our requests and knowledgeable in wine selection. The kitchen addressed a no salt requirement with diligence and grace. Thank you all very much.
Service was excellent. Trout dinner was overcooked. Bison was served medium rare and excellent.
The Ivy Inn never fails to impress. When we have out of town guests it is our first choice and everyone always wants to go back. For this "a big thank you."
Every meal I’ve ever eaten there has been amazing. I recommend the Ivy Inn any chance I get.
Great service from waiters that sincerely care.
The owners are the sweetest people, obviously passionate about food, ambiance and hospitality.
The best dinner my husband and I have had in the Charlottesville area! The Ivy Inn came recommended and now having dined there we would HIGHLY recommend to all our family and friends who travel to Charlottesville. The dining area is simple and quiet but inviting. We sat at a darling table in front of the fireplace. My husband had the crispy pork belly with the sunny-side up quail egg which was outstandingly flavorful and I ordered the amFog wild mushroom, perfectly seasoned, for our firsts. For entrees we thoroughly enjoyed the duet of lamb and the farm bison NY strip. Both plates were mouth-watering and paired perfectly with our bottle of cabernet. We are from out of town but will definitely return!
Favorite in the Charlottesville area. Food and service is always impeccable. Tonight was no different and a new dish on the menu of grilled rockfish with oysters I highly recommend.
Ivy Inn is one of the most reliable restaurants in Charlottesville. It is always well chosen and prepared food. Great service- friendly and efficient.
We were celebrating our anniversary. We were greeted and congratulated, given a menu that said Happy Anniversary. Our server was Glenda and she was friendly to us and to the other customers in our room. The food was delicious. My only complaint was that there was another customer that spoke too loudly and we could clearly hear the details of their conversation until they started eating. The Inn is expensive but it is worth it for a special occasion. We finished our meal with a nice chocolate mini cake/brownie and a Happy Anniversary written in Chocolate icing. We felt truly special.
As always, perfect in every way! Our go-to restaurant in C'ville for special occasions +
We celebrated our 20th Anniversary with a wonderful dinner here. The service was top-notch and very attentive, the menu was varied and appealed to our different preferences. Our meals were served hot and as good as, or better than anticipated. My dinner included fried oysters as a garnish and I was not expecting much from them. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh they were and how well they were prepared.
We enjoyed a fantastic bottle of champagne and two delicious desserts. Even when the dining room was full, the noise and activity level was muted and reserved.
Probably the best consistent fine dining in the Charlottesville area. Lovely place, food is excellent, service attentive...Special occasion choice, or just because...
The food was quite surprisingly good. Certainly among the best the area has to offer (the best for me though I've not quite eaten at all the top restaurants in this town). The facilities are older which adds character but they could use some TLC and likely renovations (e.g. one bathroom was out of order the the textured faux plaster on some walls was kind of tacky). The service was impeccable.
The food was exquisite. I had the duck confit and my wife had the filet and both entrees were phenomenal.
Find food in a wonderful setting of a country inn. Service is attentive and friendly.
The Ivy Inn is my favorite restaurant in Charlottesville. It is the perfect place to take my 94 and 91-year-old parents and yet the food is the best and the service is perfect. Charlottesville is still a small town in terms of restaurant fare in my opinion but the Ivy Inn holds its own. Another great thing is that the wine list accommodates all.
Wonderful. And loved the new menu!
A perfect setting for celebration of our anniversary!
The service was good. The food was great and the wine was super and the ambience was excellent and the company was fabulous and fantastic.
Wonderful food and outstanding service.
We dine here every year and we always enjoy the delicious food and terrific service.
The Ivy Inn was a real pleasure; we had a big party and originally were slated to sit on their heated patio. Staff recognized how cold it was and seated us inside instead. Drinks were divine, all around great meal. Service was great as well!
Great place for a celebration event. We were there for our 26th wedding anniversary. The Ivy Inn did a great job.
Excellent food & service!
Atmosphere was amazing and the service was top notch. Unfortunately the food was rather sub par for the price you pay. My New York Strip was ordered at the chef's recommendation of medium rare but was served to me rare and cold in the middle. They were quick to fix this issue but in doing so, they simply put the whole plate in the stove which overcooked the potatoes. The sauce that it was served with was also extremely floral in taste. It completely took the enjoyment away from the meat and left a bad taste in the mouth. With a $100+ bill on the dinner, I expected quite a bit more. I don't think I'll be back unfortunately.
Intimate traditional restaurant with excellent food. A great choice if visiting Charlotte and want a high quality meal. The pork was some of the best I've tasted.
Quiet, great table, attentive service and superb food.
Disappointed. 50/50 on food quality. Expected better from the reputation in reviews
Excellent knowledgeable serving staff.
Had a lovely evening and meal at The Ivy Inn Restaurant ... wonderful atmosphere, tremendous service and awesome food!
The Ambience was very pleasant. our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and he was very helpful in guiding us through the many tasty choices.
Angelo's food was simply amazing! Shrimp n Grits sublime. Lamb duet was perfect1
Always a special evening at The Ivy Inn!
We always enjoy the Ivy Inn. Ambiance, service and food (including vegetarian options) always meet our expectations.
Delightful dinner. I had the flounder and friend had the trout, plus an order of shrimp and grits. Shrimp were a bit too salty for my taste. Four glasses of wine. Prices reasonable. Service was excellent and timely -- left a good tip that was was earned and deserved. Hope to come back many more times. By far the best restaurant in Charlottesville and vicinity.
Long time favorite continues to wow with food and service! Yes, the Ivy Inn has been on CVL’s top-rated dining scene for years, and it still impresses. What it isn’t is a scene. Its understated and traditional in decor but the food is creative and delicious. If I could change anything, I’d update the interiors, add a usable bar for drinking and dining and perhaps throw in the ubiquitous, too-shelf burger. Other than that, it’s hard to beat for any occasion.
Perfect restaurant for great food and atmosphere, attentive service. We've wanted to eat at Ivy for years, but just didn't get around to it. Now we'll be back soon.
Great food. Loved shrimp and grits appetizer! Great service. Accommodating restaurant!
