Fine Italian food with fresh ingredients and home made pastas. We had the sauteed clams and bruchettas for appetizers. Marinated cherry tomatoes especially flavorful. The pesto spaghetti with shrimp was best for the shrimp seasoning. It was our best Italian food in NOLA and worth 5 stars if the service came up a notch. Still recommended.
We went here for our 10 year anniversary and my husband called ahead and coordinated with the restaurant to surprise me with a dozen roses at the table. Delicious cheese plate which they said were picks straight from Italy.
Love this place! One of our favorites in New Orleans!
Excellent service and friendly staff.restaurant was loud. Probably due to a few large boisterous tables. Food was prepared perfectly.
Went here the first night in Nola and judged all other restaurants based on it! Had the sea bass with crushed tomatoes served on spinach that was expensive but totally worth it! Not only am I still thinking about that big piece of well seasoned fish but still thinking about the sautéed, not soggy spinach. Our group also shared the pasta arribiata that was perfect al dente with a spicy tomato sauce. Not too spicy.
They had run out of 2 of their desserts which irked us but we went with the chocolate “salami”. It’s kind of like fudge packed with crunchy bits. Delicious but should’ve been served with a chisel because it was hard to cut. Still worth it.
Service was friendly and attentive.
Birthday dinner and it was perfect! Food and wine was delicious and our waitress was one of the best I have ever had anywhere! She made the evening special. Will return when we are back in New Orleans.
Really inviting place! The bartender was extremely friendly.
Excellent restaurant recommended by a friend who visited last week
New location. As good as always!
Food was perfect. Service was timely. Noise was pretty extreme. Overall had a great time at this fancy spot.
Great end of the day dining experience.
I always enjoy my experience with IB, but our server(s) this go round were especially engaging.
Thank you for a wonderful evening
Fresh homemade pasta and wonderful staff.
I had a bad experience with one of the mushroom dishes. My stomach was hurting and I spent a lot of time in the bathroom. I have contacted the restaurant next day and was promised to hear back from their manager, however, 3 days later no one cared to call me back.
Lovely restaurant setting in the lower French Quarter. Delicious food, attentive but not obtrusive wait staff. Our table ordered a mix of specials and regular menu items. Gnocchi are delicious soft pillows. Love this place, never a bad experience. Two tables had birthdays on this night. My party had two locals with one out-of-town parent.
Friends had been recommending this place for ages, so my expectations were rather high. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed. Everything was perfectly fine, but I expected something more, especially at this price level.
Very expensive. Over $650 for four people. Salad and Apps were good. Main course just ok.
One of our favorite places that we don’t get to often enough. It was a good 16th Anniversary pick. Hard to find real/good Italian in New Orleans. A lot of the old school and Sicilian places leave much to be desired. But not Italian Barrel. Food is excellent and the details are there. A little truffle in the honey or salt. Excellent wait staff that tell you what they DON’T like (that matters). Still the best Cheese Plate in the City. Amazing Osso Bucco (Fri/Sat only) and pastas. Even the coffee is top notch. Can’t wait to come back when they have sardines again and a full-summer menu.
Everything about the Italian Barrel is wonderful. Mich Elle is one of the best servers in the city. Love their specials, pasta, and everything else
It was a wonderful place to have a fantastic dinner with 6 of us. The service was friendly and attentive. They provided all the food family style which was all so good. Try the bruschetta and the specials. Great pasta. A memorable meal.
Came here on our last night in New Orleans, everything was amazing, would highly recommend the Bresaola appetizer and the penne alla arrabbiata and Chef Samatha's fusilli pasta entrees, excellent post dinner coffee as well
Fantastic as always. As usual, some don't venture far from the top dishes while others are willing to venture around the menu. Highly recommend. This is a fantastic spot both indoors and outside seating (active corner). I can't recommend enough and we will be back again for the next special evening.
Best bruschetta and lasagna I’ve had in a very long time. Highly recommend. Waitress was wonderful.
This is the place even LOCALS are unaware of. The best hidden gem in the city.
We were here a few years ago when they were just a tiny little restaurant. Were we surprised to see how they had expanded! The food is even better than we remembered! Don't miss this gem when you are in New Orleans and are having a craving for some good Italian food!
We have eaten at the Italian Barrel several times, and it’s consistently wonderful! The gnocchi and limoncello truffle are my favorites!
Bland food, lackadaisical service.
I was in town with friends and we were able to get a reservation. Our waitress Angel was fantastic. She was very friendly, answered all of our questions and gave us great service.
Our 3rd Night in NO with friends
Wonderful meal , service, fun atmosphere
We lived it
Super friendly staff especially the host.
Delicious Italian food from scratch.
Great Italian food, quaint restaurant in the middle of chaos!
I am kosher and extremely serious about the food I eat. I got the caprese pasta and found a piece of a clam inside. I don’t eat shell fish and got completely turned off by the place.
Had a birthday dinner with family and friends. The reservation was honered quickly and seating was on time. Had a change is staff midway through meal and food came out a touch slow. Once it did was good but not spectacular. Over all a solid choice for Italian in the quarter. Can be a bit cramped if busy.
Best Italian, needed after a week of Cajun/Creole
Excellent meal and service. A gem, their website does not do it justice. Highly recommend.
The food is excellent but the price of many dishes is unexpectedly high
The best meal we had in New Orleans
