What a fabulous meal! Great pre fix menu. Will our server was outstanding. Will be back very soon.
Great. I met my future wife Dana. We are going to run off and do crimes.
Had the steak there unbelievable.... My wife had the fish that was also unbelievable... The clams were amazing... Just went to a high-end steak house the other day at the ocean this place has them beat
2nd time here and just loved it! Hole in the wall with amazing food! Great GF options and wine list fantastic! Huge fan!
When we were seated everything started out great, our server came over and introduced himself and gave us a bit of a talk about specials and notable whiskeys and seem very friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks which were great and started with two appetizers. However, our waiter never came back to check on us, mid appetizer, we had wanted to order another drink and he was nowhere to be found, after being done with our appetizer for almost 20 minutes he finally came back and took our order. the table next to us who sat down after us got their food before us. Very impressed with food. For our entrees we order the burger and the scallops. Both excellent. But we skipped dessert and got out of there since the service went downhill during our meal. Glad we tried this place at least.
Food was not up to par. Their udon Mac and cheese ( normally great) came out cold. While I’ve always enjoyed their food, my burger and my daughter’s burger were tasteless and dry. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate fudge cake which was so small it was eaten in 3 bites. I wanted to know what happened to the rest of the cake.
I’ve been hear many times, but I’ll take some time off. I will say that they have a great selection of whiskey, and my kids did a whiskey flight which they loved.
Used to be cooler. Now it’s just a restaurant.
At 6:00 they were out of scallops. The black salmon was supposed to be cooked with "chunk crab" but there was no crab in dish. Fried chicken was just fried chicken...no sides at all.. All overpriced
First, our appetizer came out cold. Then our Kobe burgers came out raw when we asked them to be medium well. When the manager came to speak to us he did not apologize and instead told us that the way the burger was cooked was correct.
We enjoyed the small plates. For 2 of us we had 4 small plates (pierogies, udon mac and cheese, bacon and octopus). All were good. The bacon could have been a little more.
The food and drink menu is outstanding. Small place, parking can be tricky, but the food is well worth it. 4 words: udon mac and cheese. Do this!
Amazing meal, and the whiskey was out of this world. Service was phenomenal. Will definitely be back
I did NOT receive 100 points for the Iron Room, as well as for some other past dinners. I’m T 3800 points for about 2 months. iron room is run poorly and overpriced. Will not return
Creative cocktails, decent beer selection, and delicious food. One of our favorite spots in AC!
Off the beaten path yet worth the visit...
A good experience all around!!!👍🏻
My boyfriend and I came for a tasting menu dinner as part of my birthday celebrations. Food and wine were great, but there were a few things that really lowered our experience. When entering, the bar is immediately to the left, and someone from the restaurant was doing paperwork at the first bar stool, his work spread out on the bar. It’s a total downer on the whole “speakeasy” feel, and mood in general. I’ve never seen something like that at a restaurant... Once seated, we waited. And waited... and waited... it was a full 15-20 minutes before our server greeted us with water. That’s really unacceptable, and we probably should have left at that point. When he finally came with water, he said he’d be back for our orders. So we waited... and waited... you get the idea. We ordered wine and dinner, waited at least 10 minutes for our wine. Once the courses for the tasting menu got rolling, dinner moved a bit quicker, but we were so delayed that we had to cancel further plans that evening. We certainly weren’t looking to eat and run, but this was way past acceptable pacing. Granted, our server was very nice and knew the menu well, but that just can’t make up for it. Food was very, very good- but frankly, it’s all overshadowed by how frustrated we were with service.
Excellent find. Passed this place for 4 years and thought it was a dive. REALLY SURPRISED, beautiful inside and the food was excellent . Great service and knowledgeable staff. Very very pleased. Will be back. If you go make sure you make a reservation as it is on the small side.
We had the 4 course menu which allowed us to taste a wide variety. We also enjoyed the cocktails. The standouts for me were the Udon Mac n Cheese and the Flourless Chocolate Cake. My husband enjoyed the maple bacon and the bread pudding as well. We would come back.
We were very excited about our second trip to the Iron Room. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food quality was good but it was the value that was disappointing. It was just my wife and I and we decided to get two small plates and two large plates. One small plate was the pierogis. They were delicious so no complaint. The other was the octopus which was also tasty but was very skimpy with just two tentacles. Not worth the money! The two large plates were the black salmon and the scallops. The scallops were the shocker - $34 for four medium sized scallops! Overall we had two drinks each and the food and after tip our total bill was $205. There are so many better options on Absecon Island in this price range. Disappointed!
Delicious, make sure you order the mac and cheese !!!!!
Very good food. Great service. One large noisy table killed the room. People were screaming from one end of the table to the other. The large table is set amongst two tops. Poor layout. Not enjoyable.
Love the remodel and new menu.
Enjoyed the variety and quality of the dishes.
The food was amazing! I ordered the Snake River Kobe Burger and loved it, but also tasted the Chef's Meat Board and the Mac and Cheese. Everyone in our group loved what they ordered. The staff gave us shots of a mixed berry cocktail since we were a bachelorette party. Everyone wanted more of that drink, it hurts thinking about it because I can't have more until I go back! The food and drinks were the best part. The place is much smaller than we thought it would be and we did wait a long time for our food, but the food made up for the slower service. Plan to spend more than two hours there. Overall, I can't wait to go back!
The food was good, but sorry, I just found the ambiance weird and depressing. Maybe we just went too early because we were the only people there.
The Iron Room far exceeded our expectations. The prix fixe menu was a wonderful decision, as we got to try several dishes. Whatever you do, make sure you try the Udon Mac & Cheese. As part of the prix fixe, the main course is a little on the small side, but if you got the mac & cheese, you won't leave hungry. Tap selections were excellent. If I'm in AC again, I'll return without a doubt.
Excellent food and cocktails. Very knowledgeable bar and wait staff. Great for happy hour. Went for a beer tasting for our first visit and returned for dinner before a show at the Borgata. Would go back again for a whiskey tasting and also dinner.
From soup to nuts WONDERFUL.
We had an exceptional meal. Do not expect big portions but our choices were delicious & unique. Server Hailey was more than knowledgeable about all our food & wine questions. Foie gras pierogies were out of this world & a cheese board that includes humboldt fog Surely didn’t disappoint. The wine I chose was truly “out of the box” (Teutonic) and paired exceptionally well with my scallops and all our other dining choices. Would definitely go back again!
Nice new dining room. Pleasant evening. Glad we went. We were pleased.
Our server was very friendly and energetic! The beer, wine and cocktails were chosen from a nice variety. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their food choices. Desserts were also delicious. Would definitely return!
Set on border of Atlantic city close to Ventnor City NJ, The Iron Room is a diamond in the rough. Booze - Outstanding cocktail menu with creative drinks by Brian. Very interesting and broad wine list with some real finds if you look. The food is always great - the bacon is unbelievable, if available the salt and pepper string beans are amazing (we always order 2 orders). Terrific for a late night burger or steak. The house-made pickles are a real treat. Octopus is always well prepared. Be prepared - service is amazing but can be slow when crowds arrive at the same time. AND - it's NJ SO - diners can get VERY loud.
A fantastic find for those looking for a meal in Atlantic City that is off the strip and feels authentically local. The food is creative and absolutely outstanding. My husband and I sampled a number of dishes and everything was good but the standout dishes were the udon mac 'n cheese, the fried chicken, and the flourless chocolate cake.
The whiskey menu is huge and has everything from bourbons, to Japanese whiskeys, to grain whiskeys. Whew!
Tapas and mixology? Yes, please. This little speak easy behind an unassuming store front is like that big gift in a small box wrapped in the Sunday comics. I can't say enough about the libations. If you like a good scotch, whisky or fun tequila or gin drink this is the place. We started with a spicy Mezcal cocktail. Then enjoyed a nice cheese plate with a glass of wine (recommended by the mixologist). Superb. I did my little happy food/wine dance. Then we shared a few small plates and a beautiful steak, perfectly prepared MR. The portions are small but we ordered enough to satisfy the two of us. The service was just right, enough attention to satisfy all our desires but not so much as to disrupt our intimate experience. Its not a dinner to be rushed, rather savored. After dinner we decided to take our desert and cocktails at the bar where we were thoroughly entertained, appreciated and properly liquored up. We'll be back.
It was our second time eating here. Again we excellent service and excellent food. It’s a real hidden gem.
Reviews mentioned location. Do not be turned off by those comments. Super accessible on Albany Avenue.
Maintaining our buildings character. Th
Delicious food! Waiter was nice but awkward. It’s neat how you’d never expect this restaurant to be where it is, but for the prices they charge I’d expect nice decor. If you’re near AC and willing to splurge on an expensive dinner then I’d recommend.
Fabulous food in the tapas manner! Recently redecorated and a great whisky collection! Don’t miss it!
We had been to the Iron room last year several times - always good. The overall of the dinning area and bar is outstanding adding to the fun creative ambience. This visit was 3 of us - we enjoyed creative cocktails (Bryan did a thing) and some amazing wine (not decanted totally well but...). The bacon, fries, burger, steak, green beans, halibut were ALL amazing (we reordered the green beans and fries).
Fun beers and ciders on tap - all around great place for dinner for those that like food and adventure.
Absolutely incredible flavors - the steak tartar with the quail egg was probably my favorite. Really high price tags on the each of the small plates but we felt it was worth the trip. Special occasion dining!
Had very high expectations coming in. But experience fell short. They seemed to be short staffed. The tile fish waa bland and needed more flavor. The coby burger was pretty basic, deviled eggs were pretty good, the bread pudding was warm which didn't really work for us, wouldve been better with some ice cream. The saving grace for this restaurant was the mac and cheese with the thick cut bacon. After dropping off both plates, the server recommended that we mix the two and this was perhaps the best thick cut bacon I've ever had. The black cherry cider was good, but all of the drink samples we were given were warm.
