Our family enjoys going to the Irish Inn for special occasions. The staff treats us well and the food is reliably good.
The food was excellent, as was the service. The draft beer was very good as well. The Ruebens were outstanding - the corned beef was great. I had the walnut crusted cod, which was good, and it came with a Greek salad, which was probably the best salad I've had in a long time! The only improvement I could suggest involves the creme brûlée we had for dessert. I thought the added lemon and vanilla flavor was overpowering and unnecessary. A traditional creme brûlée would be better.
...wee are repeat customers at the Irish Inn[and their other store as well]. We always look forward to our visits and good food!
Waiter was attentive and friendly. Food was good. would recommend to friends
We usually like the food at the Inn but our experience lately has been somewhat disappointing. I had the crab cakes and they were cold and stale. Seemed like they were reheated in a microwave after sitting around a few days. They were dry and tasteless, not at all like the jumbo lump meat crab cakes typical of Maryland. My husband's pot pie, usually a favorite, also seemed duller than usual. Our friends' amber jack dish was better, but then, it was the favorite recommended dish that day. Hope you get back to the old menu and more fresh food soon.
The Irish Inn has a great outdoor dining area. When the weather is pleasant, it's an excellent place to have a drink and a sandwich or salad. When it comes to entrees, choose carefully. My wife got a rack of lamb. The presentation was fine, but part of it was raw, not medium rare. That eventually was corrected, but the meat was pretty tasteless. I got walnut crusted cod fillet. Sounded good. It wasn't bad enough to send back. The portion was quite generous. Unfortunately, the fish was between tough and solid, not flaky. It also didn't have much flavor. The Greek salad that was the side made the fish palatable. I'm a big eater, yet I left half my portion
We've often dined here over quite a few years. We want the Irish Inn to continue to thrive. I suggest diners select more standard fare--fish and chips, burgers, shepherds pie, lamb chops, and the entree salads. It's a good place if you follow our guidance.
Wonderful atmosphere in a lovely setting. Best fish and chips.
We had our anniversary dinner at The Irish Inn. They gave us complimentary champagne to start our evening, and let us move to our "special" table when it opened. They were very kind to let us have a very long and relaxed dinner. No pressure to move along. Good food, and great service.
We had a lovely lunch on Labor Day. Everything was fantastic. Loved the outside seating. Can't wait to go back in the Fall.
We had a lovely brunch, eating outside. I had the Whole Wheat Pancakes - these were excellent, though I wasn't crazy about the Irish sausages. They truly were Irish sausages, not enough spiciness for me. My friend had the Eggs Benedict, and she liked them.
The tables are a little close together outside; however we arrived early (11:30) and not too many people were there yet, so it still felt private.
Courteous, friendly staff. Good food. Wait staff sufficiently attentive. Only complaint is that the noise level was a little more than I liked.
Close to Glen Echo park. Some menu items unavailable, wish the wait staff would note that before we made our choices. Still a good place with many menu choices.
Good. Easy parking at lunchtime. Convenient. Reasonable.
We had a pleasant experience with this neighborhood restaurant. Good salads and service. Good vegetarian dish
Close to Glen Echo park. Clearly a favorite for many as we see the same couples week after week. Some menu items unavailable, wish the wait staff would note that before we made our choices.
Great food and service as usual. It is so convenient to get there from Virginia to meet friends from Maryland - a nice in between spot and with its own parking lot to make parking and access easy.
All good as per my past review however the egg plant with Spaghetti Squash was very light on the egg plant. Teeny pieces started a cubed but pretty much disintegrated into a soupy collection at the bottom. Mis-read and thought I was getting a slice of egg pant topped with squash. Tasted good.
This was our first visit to the Irish Inn. It was a lovely evening and we were glad to get a table out on the patio. I had fish and chips, and my husband had the fish sandwich. Both were delicious.
Attentive service, very good authentic Irish fare (though our bread basket was lacking some of the more interesting breads we'd had on a previous visit). The decor needs updating badly: it looks tired and unappealing, and the carpet was dusty and gross looking. Good live band. Parking is tight.
We enjoyed the evening and will be back for Sunday night live jazz.
In the old days The Irish Inn was good but overpriced, so we hadn't been back in ages. It will be a much shorter time before we are back again. The setting is charming. Food has gone global but there are still a number of good fish choices. I had a sort of northern cioppino special, very tasty, and spouse (who is picky about such things) much enjoyed the fish & chips. Check out the imaginative cocktails and attractive wines, including by the glass. Be aware that the "plentiful" private parking is mostly valet: if you want to park yourself, find a spot in front. If you drive to the back, you will end up parking on the street.
Always enjoy lunch at the Irish inn with friends. Interesting variable menu, good quality, nice service, nice ambience.
Great martini's. Delicious gazpacho and catch of the day (Corzina).
Excellent service and good selection. Our server had a very god knowledge of the menu and of the specials. I would recommend the Irish Pub to anyone.
Nice setting, good food and good service. Great place to eat before cancan gat Glen Echo Park. Very please we found this place.
Had a small reunion with two friends from high school and sat in the dining room for 4 hours! Our server couldn't have been more accommodating and never pressured us to 'move on'. The food was also terrific.
Good combination of Irish and American food. Great Prime rib. One of our dinners was from Ireland and He thought it was delicious. Excellent service.
very friendly place-- owners, managers , staff and customers. it is a very civil place and a respite from our troubled times. Food and service are very good to boot. a real gem.
We had dinner in the formal dining area, which contains a nice collection of framed art work. We started by sharing a bowl of the potato-leek soup, which was very tasty. My companion had the Eggplant Bolognese and I had the Ruben , both of which were excellent with generous portions. I took half of my sandwich home. Bread pudding topped with ice cream for dessert was a great finish. Service was excellent.
Not a great experience. This was our first time at the restaurant (we were heading to a concert at Glen Echo Park, and chose this location due to its proximity). Food was ordinary. I ordered soup of the day - crab bisque - it tasted overcooked. The peach and goat cheese salad was the only dish I enjoyed. Fish tacos had the industrial taste to them (i.e. lacking in flavor - produced of industrial grade ingredients). We sat outside at the terrace where there were a lot of empty seats at the time when we arrived. Unfortunately, we did not get the seats that we preferred even though we asked to be seated elsewhere. The interior of the restaurant has a smell of an old building that seems to be in need of repair.
Very nice restaurant with good food and service but the seating is a bit cramped - too many tables too close together.
I previously ranked this restaurant low on the quality of the food. I'm happy to say on my recent visit it the food was quite good.
My daughter's favorite restaurant. We're not Irish but she loves Irish food and this is authentic not only in the menu but with the staff and owners. They have a great gar scene and lots of music options and seasonal menu offerings for holidays. My favorites are outside in the nice weather and by the fire in the cold. Its an expanded house so can't help but feel warm in the wonderful Glen Echo. Such a gem. If you want traditional Irish fare this is the place to go, but has unusual offerings such as Humus etc so all are welcome. From Pub fare and and pint with an Irish drinking song to high end white table cloth cuisine in the dinning room...it has it all with wonderful warm staff.
Yet another stupendous meal at The Irish Inn! We had a prime rib special with Yorkshire pudding which was simply superb. The menu retains its favorites, but keeps adding new and delightful specials and desserts. We are long-time regulars to the Inn, and we can't recommend it highly enough. The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and sure. No mucked-up orders; careful of every detail; welcoming. It feels like coming home, only the cooking is much, much better.
Very pleasant week night dinner. Friendly service, the four of us all enjoyed our meals.
Always a good place for meeting a friend or a biz lunch
One of our absolute favorites. I'd go just for the Smithwicks in tap, but all of the food is highly underrated.
The Irish Inn is a great option for a dinner with friends. Nice menu, good food, very nice service, and easy to hear dinner conversations. We enjoyed it and will return -- again.
cuisine pas tellement irlandaise 1 seul plat ! meme la biere n'etait pas extra, tres mediocre Bon seulement pour boire un verre mais pas pour y manger
