The Irish Inn at Glen Echo
Gracious reception, lovely service, were not bothered during long conversations but service was nearly immediate when we were ready, not rushed. Delicious food.
Warm & cozy on a drizzly cold night!
Great time, great drinks, food, dessert, service! Excellent afternoon!
Thanksgiviing dinner was lovely - especially the squash and apple bisque, the turkey stuffing (not enough!) and the pumpkin pie. Turkey good and plentiful, but dark meat was inedible. Sweet potatoes and green beans filled up the plate. Nice and quiet, too.
We have celebrated Thanksgiving for several years at the Irish Inn with our family. Everyone enjoys the ambiance and the food an we hope to continue this Thanksgiving tradition or many years.
Ann and I over the years have always enjoyed our visits to The Irish Inn at Glen Echo, be it for dinner or just appetizers and adult beverages at the bar.
We highly recommend and encourage our friends and guess to join us at this wonderful restaurant while visiting the DMV. It just doesn't get any better!!
We had the Thanksgiving Day Dinner specials - one Turkey, One Steak and One Salmon - appetizers and desserts included for $45. All the meals were uniformly excellent. Our server, an extremely professional older gentleman (i.e. not a millenial, and perhaps an aging gen xer or youngest of the baby boomers) was outstanding.
Always have a good experience at the Irish Inn-The server this time was outstanding
Lots of little rooms which is why the noise level is good. Cozy comfortable environment
A favorite lunchtime location with a wide selection of food and drink for all tastes.
Went for an early ladies lunch. We loved the coziness of the room. Our server was attentive without "hovering". We all enjoyed our entrees... didn't have room for dessert. Prices were reasonable. The location was very convenient to get to/from mid-day & parking was plentiful.
As always, Irish Inn at Glen Echo was superb. We were not rushed, but cared for with real sensitivity. The food is excellent, the environment perfectly understated and elegant, and the service outstanding. I will be dining here with my family for many years to come.
good food, nice ambiance, and good friendly service at reasonable prices
Went there for the first time for Sunday brunch. The potato leak soup is a must. The smoked salmon appetizer was plentiful and delicious. We both had the full Irish breakfast. It was a bit much after sharing the appetizers but it met expectations and was authentic as any I had in Ireland. The broiled tomato was outstanding and frankly better than any I had in Ireland. Topped off with a pint of Smithwick's it was a great Sunday morning treat. We ate in the pub and appreciated its atmosphere.
We were in one of the upstairs rooms - all by ourselves which after 15 years of coming to The Irish Inn at Glen Echo seemed a bit isolated but different and fun too! The wait staff were GREAT and never left us waiting. They were very attentive. The Food was VERY GOOD. There food is consistently VERY GOOD. I especially recommend the traditional dishes.
Once upon a time long, long ago I had dinner at the Irish Inn at Glen Echo. Some 20;years later I and my friend met for lunch there and we both were more than pleasantly surprised. Firstly, their mini scones were a total treat. Then, a meaty burger and fries for my friend, a Reuben and a side salad for me.. My friend said the burger was excellent, I said the Reuben was one of the best I’ve ever had. The service was quite friendly and very good and the white tablecloths are a nice touch. The Inn is a quaint old house with a number of small rooms on the first floor and walls decorated with paintings of things Irish and much Irish scenery which gave it character. By mid-meal the tables in the dining rooms were filled, as was Inn’s pub, and although when we first arrived there were just a few cars in the parking lot, when we left the parking lot was near filled.. It’s easy to understand why!
It’s a great neighborhood place and a great value. It won’t be very long until my next visit!
Service was non existant other than merely bringing the food we ordered. I had to stack up plates to give a hint and even then he took one thing, not all. Couldn't even get a refill of water. The nicoise salad was uninspired: tuna was plain, no seasoning at all and the dressing was bland. The chicken tikka masala was nothing more than chicken chunks coated with tomato paste, utterly lacking and Indian flavors. The prawns with angelhair pasta was bizarre: prawns with shell and head on is fine for bar food but not with angelhair pasta, which had little to no seasoning, garlic or wine sauce. The fish and chips were awful. This place was good 5 years ago. Not today.
This is a quiet, moderately priced place with several small rooms that allow for a very pleasant dining experience. The shepherd's pie was outstanding and my wife liked the fish tacos. The Irish motif is nice without being overdone. Altogether a great place for lunch or dinner.
The seating was outside in a crowd....noisy for talking e.g. stance.. Overall great - we have been there many times. The Mussels were wonderful; the Shepherds pie perfect and HOT.
Great place to meet friends or family. Food is always good with choices for all tastes. Love the Irish atmosphere.
Lovely lunch, excellent fun in a charming atmosphere.
We had a delicious anniversary dinner with my daughter and son-in-law for what would have been my wife and my 42d Anniversary tomorrow! I had a wonderful shepherd’s pie and my son-in-law had corned beef and cabbage. My daughter had a Mediterranean platter and a side of grilled cauliflower! The service was excellent.
Nice old venue, comfortable atmosphere - it is pricey, but enjoyable.
Very nice place
lunch in a dining room. good food, spinach salads, and share plate of roasted cauliflower.
seafood galloway was delicious although the portion was smaller than desired for a dinner entrer
Pleasant seating on the patio. Tender tasty calamari with excellent aioli. Very good potato leek soup, but it could have been hotter.
Wonderful!!!
the food is wonderful here--and the service is so friendly
although there was an exciting game playing in the bar, they filled our request for a quiet table in a lovely porch--and we had a delightful afternoon with their great food and the ambiance
Could not have been better. Party of 7 whom they moved from reserved indoor room to the porch upon request. Delicious food and great service.
Enjoyable service was outstanding. Room was quiet. Would recommend it to friends.
Upstairs TA je a d service was absolutely wonderful!!!
Food was blah. Server was the best part
Fun atmosphere, pub-like only more upscale. Food was good and the service excellent. We come here often and will continue.
We dined on the porch, which has a waiting list if you arrive close to 6pm but a wonderful place to enjoy being with friends. The receptionist went the extra mile to seat us there and our friends and we loved the meal. We go often!
Outstanding as always. An institute.
we sat outside and had a wonderful three-hour conversation - the server was helpful but patient when she saw we just wanted to talk
One extremely loud table ruined the atmosphere. Don't know the individual but can recite his entire retirement story.
Great food in a beautiful location! Wonderful Service!
The Irish Inn at Glen Echo remains a neighborhood jewel, consistently good food and attentive service.
