The Irish Inn at Glen Echo
lunch in a dining room. good food, spinach salads, and share plate of roasted cauliflower.
seafood galloway was delicious although the portion was smaller than desired for a dinner entrer
Pleasant seating on the patio. Tender tasty calamari with excellent aioli. Very good potato leek soup, but it could have been hotter.
the food is wonderful here--and the service is so friendly
although there was an exciting game playing in the bar, they filled our request for a quiet table in a lovely porch--and we had a delightful afternoon with their great food and the ambiance
Could not have been better. Party of 7 whom they moved from reserved indoor room to the porch upon request. Delicious food and great service.
Enjoyable service was outstanding. Room was quiet. Would recommend it to friends.
Upstairs TA je a d service was absolutely wonderful!!!
Food was blah. Server was the best part
Fun atmosphere, pub-like only more upscale. Food was good and the service excellent. We come here often and will continue.
We dined on the porch, which has a waiting list if you arrive close to 6pm but a wonderful place to enjoy being with friends. The receptionist went the extra mile to seat us there and our friends and we loved the meal. We go often!
Outstanding as always. An institute.
we sat outside and had a wonderful three-hour conversation - the server was helpful but patient when she saw we just wanted to talk
One extremely loud table ruined the atmosphere. Don't know the individual but can recite his entire retirement story.
Great food in a beautiful location! Wonderful Service!
The Irish Inn at Glen Echo remains a neighborhood jewel, consistently good food and attentive service.
Very slow service
We sat in the bar for dinner during which they had a live Traditional Irish music session, which made it very lively. Great entertainment! The food and waitress were really good as well. We have been there several times & plan to return again.
Best duck my husband ever had!
Friendly and welcoming. Lots of friendly locals dining. We had the yummy corned beef and cabbage and fabulous Baileys chocolate chunk ice cream for dessert.
We love the place and have been going there for many years. Frank, the host, is very helpful in seating you in a spot you enjoy. We like the porch - weather permitting. The Irish bangers & mash and the shepherds pie are my favorites!
Good food and service. Lobster roll was excellent.
We are teachers nearby and love to come to sit on the porch in the corner for a quiet lunch when we can. We love your place!
The waiter was abrupt, relatively inattentive, and feigned politeness in a manner that made us all uncomfortable in its insincerity. When the food was delivered to the table, the “food runner” reached across members of our party to place the dishes in front of others. There were no apologies or attempts to walk around. When the plates were cleared, again they reached across and veritably “snatched” the dishes without asking if we were finished (we were not all finished eating).
This makes me sad, because the owner (manager?) is such a nice, polite, and courteous man. The other behavior flies in the face of what he projects and the atmosphere I assume he’d like to cultivate in the restaurant.
I've been to the Irish Inn for many years, probably a thousand times. Every lunch or dinner is great, whether in the formal dining rooms or the bar. The service is impeccable, the staff is superb.
Expecting good food as we were taking a guest but not the case. Corned beef/cabbage was cold, wife’s potatoes in her salad undercooked and guests duck too well done. Inn only good for hamburgers and fish/chips, bar food.
Prime rib was super yummy and the ambiance is funky charming, but the menus (plastic) could use a good scrubbing. That said, I’d go back again for the tasty food.
The service and food was most enjoyable. And, the other customers are very pleasant adding to the dining experience. However, this is the second time we have eaten outside. This time the flies were problematic. They were landing in the food and sometimes staying. Ugh...Recommend some type of bug zapper to better control the issue. We were on the patio at the far end opposite the parking lot.
The service was lame. I have received better attention from country diners than I received here. The waiter didn't bother to tell us the specials. He came back once to check on us. Never asked if we wanted more to drink and didn't even try to upsell desserts. The food was mediocre. It tasted good but wasnt anything to get excited over.
Enjoyed an excellent meal as always. The irish Inn never disappoints.
Pleasant outdoor seating & onsite free parking were nice pluses. Service was good. We had crab cake sandwiches which was soso but nice that it also came with side salad.
The food was delicious, and the waiter was efficient and very pleasant. We live near by, and remember the restaurant in from 1959. Of course it was nothing like the Irish Inn.
Great service, very friendly neighborhood setting. Food was delicious and well prepared. We definitely recommend and would go again.
We had a lovely birthday dinner for a significant birthday. Everything was delicious. We had planned to sit outside, but it was too hot. Instead, we had a semi-private room. Great atmosphere.
Three items we selected from the menu were not available so 1 person in our group had to settle for the 3rd choice. Disappointing that so many options were unavailable.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly."
We arrived about 8pm on a hot day in early July. Thought we wanted to eat inside, but to us it felt warmer and more humid (if that can be believed) in there and the air seemed stale - poor circulation - and after a few minutes we moved outside, where it was warmer but fresh. The food was good, service was fine, neither were exceptional. The heat inside and out kind of ruined it for us.
I had a delicious Maine lobster roll lunch special. I have eaten at the Irish Inn at Glen Echo many times over the years and have never been disappointed. This restaurant is charming with a delightful array of eating spaces. The service is always attentive without being annoying. A real gem!
Perfectly sized portions. Great service. Delicious
Outstanding food & service. Restaurant was almost empty for the Independence Day holiday, glad they opened up.
