The Irish Inn at Glen Echo
We have been planning on going to the Inn for a long time. We were a little concerned about making our first time on Valentines Day. Not to worry. The service (Enrique) was great. He was on top of everything . He added a lot to the evening, especially his humor. The food was delicious. My wife had the Stroganoff and I had the pork shank. Both delicious as well as the creme brulee and bread pudding.
Irish Inn was fine for our business meeting. the little Irish soda breads were delicious. we wanted a place where we didnt have to waste time looking for parking, or risk a ticket. i will return often. they really do have the best fish and chips i have ever had. seriously, and i have that a lot, just not this time.
Yummy food. Lovely waitress
Where do I begin. I first called the Irish inn to ask if they had 6-nations rugby so we could watch Irish/Scottish rugby game. The person said they did so I booked a reservation on open table for brunch and included in the notes that we wanted to be seated next to a tv to watch the rugby game. When we got there the manager was about to seat us in the dining room when I asked him if they had the rugby match on in the bar (clearly did not read the notes). He said he could sit us in the bar next to the tv. We sat down and soccer was on. I asked a server if we could turn on rugby and he stated he had to ask. We waited for about 5 mins and our server came and took our drink order. Our server took our order and that was the last we saw of her. Mid way through waiting for our meal, I asked a server again if they could turn on the rugby match and she stated that they did not have rugby there and that they didn’t even get local matches. As she walked back to the bar, we over heard two guests state that they wanted soccer and not rugby. The server also was stating that she wasn’t going to switch it over. My wife and I were turned off on the way we were treated. It was clear at that point we were not welcomed in this bar.We got our meal which were very bland. My wife did not even get a spoon for her soup so I had to get up and grab it. I was willing to give credit to the different server who came to check on us and asked if we needed anything until we told her that the my wife’s drink was wrong. We stated it should have been a black and gold (magners and Guinness) and not a black velvet. She then challenged us twice stating that it was called a snake bite and not a black velvet. I said well whatever it is that you call it it was wrong. After she was done challenging us she decided to take it off the check for us. I want to note that she wasn’t even our original server. The original server clearly didn’t want to deal with us since we got that vibe we were not welcomed there.
as ever a great trip to the Irish in , good food drink and service reasonably priced
The most classy and intimate ambiance. Easy parking, wonderful service, fantastic food. What more cou you ask for?? :)
Service was ok, food was nothing special, ambience was horrible. Sunday night Jazz was happening in pub area and our party had to split up to fit near the bar to listen to music and grab some drinks. We met some locals who were fun and nice, the only folks who actually smiled and spoke more than 2 words (including the staff). These same folks were actually reprimanded by another patron for being too loud (because they were talking and laughing at a natural level) in a freaking IRISH PUB!! The bartender just shrugged it off. It was at this point we knew this place was not for us but we stuck it out and had drinks and dinner but won’t be back. It’s a shame as I had high hopes for a fun Irish Pub with awesome atmosphere, live music, great service and good comfort food.
Cozy pub perfect for a beer and comfort food with a date or friends. Makes you feel like you’re in a pub in Ireland. The food is delicious and the service is so friendly. Great spot can’t wait to go back!
We recently enjoyed a super celebration of our 47th anniversary with 2 of our oldest and dearest friends. I requested a quiet space to allow for easy conversation, which turned out to be a totally private room, as it was a slow night and no one else was seated in the space with us. The food was fantastic ... beef perfectly cooked to order, delectable duck, and the freshest of fish. The best lightly fried calamari we’ve had anywhere. Excellent red wine blend, reasonably priced. Our server was just the right mix of personable and professional.
Food was delicious and arrived temperature wise very hot, which is greatly appreciated. Perfect! Kurt, our waiter, and took excellent care of us. Water was refilled as needed by another individual. Service was professional while not at all intrusive. Great neighborhood place!
The building and dining area was great. Quiet and fitting. The service was slow. Got our orders wrong 3 times. Our main course had definitely sat in the kitchen as it was luke warm. Our hostess was nice but the other waiters were rude.
Really enjoyed the Irish food and beer. Nice atmosphere
Fabulous food...the best Reuben i have EVER had. Crisp and tasty fries and a wonderful (generous) cup of potato leek soup! We love this place!
We had a dinner to celebrate the birthdays of 3 people. Right away the service was superb; there when needed, but not pushy. Everyone enjoyed their choices. No plate was left unfinished and we shared deserts, none of which was not finished either.
Excellent choice for a romantic evening. The staff is outstanding and the food is excellent.
For our first get together of 2020, four "ladies who lunch" chose this restaurant. It was our first time visiting the restaurant and will not be our last. Each of our entrees and beverages were absolutely delicious.
Our family has adopted the Irish Inn for special events (such as Thanksgiving or when out of town family members come to visit). We enjoy the ambiance and the food and look forward to future meals there.
The seafood stew was outstanding! It was quiet enough to talk in the dining room. I want to go back!
We had a lovely meal. The environment was very cozy. Highly recommend.
This place seems to have lost its charm and the character that made it special. Overpriced Irish fare served with absolutely no joy or style. So disappointing, especially on Christmas Eve. We’ve been many times before but I really don’t think we will be back.
Just a good solid place for lunch--parking is plentiful--great service and good food, especially the specialty soups and the Irish Traditional Foods
We were seated quickly in a spot that enabled my friend and I to catch up on events. The waitress provided suggestions and the food and presentation were excellent.
The Irish Inn is a perfectly delightful venue. The menu is varied and interesting and the food preparation is very good. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere was very comfortable and the restaurant had a lovely vibe. It was a perfect place for a Saturday night date for dinner!
I asked for a quiet table and was put into the pub. For the first 5 minutes, everything was fine, then the hostess seated another party right next to mine even though there were quite a few open tables farther away. Strike one. Then over the course of the next 10-15 minutes, the noise level rose to the point where my partner and I had to keep saying, "What was that?" over and over just to have a conversation. Strike Two. Final strike was that I ordered one of the specials -- prime rib -- and it came out over-cooked and with almost half of it comprised of fat and/or gristle. Normally, I would have said something to the server, but because of the slower-than-expected service, we were running late for an engagement and couldn't stay to work things out. This is my second time at The Irish Inn -- the first was on a very nice summer afternoon with very different results -- and I'll probably go back at least once more, if for no other reason that to break the tie.
Wonderful service and food; I really want to have the Shepherds pie but they keep having wonderful specials that distract me (the trout was out of this world).
There was nothing "Irish" or "Innish" about our experience. Unfortunately we were seated at a round table for six (cheers to a round table) in the very front, so we didn't see any decorations, we were cold, and we didn't see anything cozy as we anticipated. The food was acceptable but nothing great for these prices. For over one hundred dollars per couple we had a satisfactory meal. Three of the six had wine or a cocktail and no dessert for anyone. The filet was divine but the prime rib was fatty and chewy. We won't return.
Lunch with longtime friends, one of whom is Irish-American, regularly visits Ireland, & hates the fake Irish bars that abound everywhere. He said it was the best & most authentic Irish bar & restaurant he’d ever been to. We all loved the excellent food, service, atmosphere, & location. The old country house it is in is so charming & full of life.
Gracious reception, lovely service, were not bothered during long conversations but service was nearly immediate when we were ready, not rushed. Delicious food.
Warm & cozy on a drizzly cold night!
Great time, great drinks, food, dessert, service! Excellent afternoon!
We have celebrated Thanksgiving for several years at the Irish Inn with our family. Everyone enjoys the ambiance and the food an we hope to continue this Thanksgiving tradition or many years.
Thanksgiviing dinner was lovely - especially the squash and apple bisque, the turkey stuffing (not enough!) and the pumpkin pie. Turkey good and plentiful, but dark meat was inedible. Sweet potatoes and green beans filled up the plate. Nice and quiet, too.
Ann and I over the years have always enjoyed our visits to The Irish Inn at Glen Echo, be it for dinner or just appetizers and adult beverages at the bar.
We highly recommend and encourage our friends and guess to join us at this wonderful restaurant while visiting the DMV. It just doesn't get any better!!
We had the Thanksgiving Day Dinner specials - one Turkey, One Steak and One Salmon - appetizers and desserts included for $45. All the meals were uniformly excellent. Our server, an extremely professional older gentleman (i.e. not a millenial, and perhaps an aging gen xer or youngest of the baby boomers) was outstanding.
Always have a good experience at the Irish Inn-The server this time was outstanding
Lots of little rooms which is why the noise level is good. Cozy comfortable environment
A favorite lunchtime location with a wide selection of food and drink for all tastes.
Went for an early ladies lunch. We loved the coziness of the room. Our server was attentive without "hovering". We all enjoyed our entrees... didn't have room for dessert. Prices were reasonable. The location was very convenient to get to/from mid-day & parking was plentiful.
As always, Irish Inn at Glen Echo was superb. We were not rushed, but cared for with real sensitivity. The food is excellent, the environment perfectly understated and elegant, and the service outstanding. I will be dining here with my family for many years to come.
good food, nice ambiance, and good friendly service at reasonable prices
