The Inn Spot on The Bay
The main building is circa 1850's and has been restored to it's optimal elegance, featuring the original carved molding around doors and windows in the dining room, and Brazilian cherry floors throughout. There are guest suites above the restaurant as well as individual villas on the property that are available by the day, week, or month. Our seafaring guests are welcome to arrive by boat and try up to our floating docks.
Both the restaurant and the inn are open year round.
We had an awful experience. The menu was extremely limited and the quality of the food was bad. Some items — truffled tater tots— seemed to come almost directly from the frozen foods section at the supermarket. Items that supposedly included lobster appeared to have surimi in them instead. The shellfish pie at $32 was grotesquely overpriced. The duck special just had a blob of brown rice added to it, nothing more. This restaurant seemed to be a throwback to days when it was extremely difficult to find decent food on the East End. They need to up their game dramatically or pack it in.
The food was awful - the seafood was frozen or imitation seafood and was seasoned horribly. The service was also awful- inattentive and sloppy. When asked about items missing, the server would snap and lecture us. After we paid the check, the server still came running after us to ensure we got the check and paid it. I would recommend that despite the good views, skip the dining experience.
Great for an evening by the bay with interesting menu , good service, good food and a great sunset view
The Pot Pie was amazing!!!!
It was a beautiful warm windy night snd the porch was a delightful spot for dinner. Service is great and atmosphere quite and peaceful.
My wife an I recently visited for our anniversary. The location on the bay is beautiful, and the food was delicious. We started with the Oyster Sampler and the Dublin Lawyer. Both great, although portions were a bit small for the price charged. Main courses were Crustaceous Pot Pie and Long Island Duck. Again, both were delicious! We also had the "Bread" which was a tapioca crisp? Not sure what it was exactly, but it was a bit greasy...I'd avoid that one if I go again. For dessert, it was the Bees Knees. Very tasty. You're mileage may vary, but all things being equal, I'd go back again.
Waitress could not explain a single thing on the menu, and waited forever to take our order and then forgot to put our drinks in. Food was awful. My son's chucatarie platter was bizarre -- some kind of fried pepperoni, no chutney or honey, no bread, some bland cheese, just weird. My tuna steak was obviously pre-prepared if not store bought as it was cold and dry. The oysters were served on water, not ice. Lobster salad appetizer was all mayo, not lobster, and I think made me sick. My wife's chicken and waffles was good, but that was the only tasty think in an otherwise awful mean with -- if possible -- even worse service.
Oysters tasted off, not fresh. Chocolate pasta was interesting but not in a good way. Fish taco was not good. Food in general was not fresh and not prepared very well. That combined with the squadron of mosquitoes on constant strafe during the meal left us in a hurry to get the check. Inn and restaurant are too off the path to be a destination.
Wife and I went for a birthday dinner after seeing the menu online...loved the old inn and the outdoor seating (staff will even provide blankets should it get too chilly...
Wife and I had Crab Bisque, and the Chocolate Salad respectively, followed by the Lobster Roll and the Seared Tuna...with the Bees Knees (walnuts and local honey over greek yogurt) for dessert.
With this fantastic view and GREAT food, was stunned that there was only one other couple dining ion the deck. A wonderful hidden gem worth seeking out!
I took some family who were visiting from California to Inn Spot and they said it was the highlight of their visit. The food was delicious, the view was outstanding and the service was impeccable. Will definitely be back!
The setting is perfect. A little slice of heaven on the shores of Shinnecock Bay. The food is amazing and the staff just couldn’t be nicer. A must-do in the Hamptons this Summer. They also have a terrific brunch on Sunday. One of my favorite places.
EXPERIENCED ATTENTIVE KNOWLEDGABLE STAFF. GREAT FOOD AND DRINK, WILL DEFINATLEY GO BACK
We have been to the Inn Spot about 4 or 5 times - we love the location, the menu is interesting and the dining rooms are attractive. But, each time the service was pretty bad. The Inn simply never seems to have enough help. There was one waitress the night we were there and another woman who seemed to be helping bringing food out of the kitchen. The one waitress was overwhelmed - she did a great job and really hustled but she could not do it alone. We waited more than 15 minutes and then I managed to flag her down and ask if we could order a drink. That took some time to arrive. And so it went. I think another problem with the slow service may be that the kitchen is too small to handle the size of the dining room. I heard the waitress tell the table next to us that the "kitchen was backed up" and there would be some delay in getting their orders through. That's not good.
This was one of the best best best meals I have had on the east end or should I say in most places it was Delicious different not your ordinary steak and potatoes same all same all the chef Actually came out and cares and adjusted the recipe to satisfy my husband we will definitely go back just don’t want to get too crowded I want to be my own secret place
Easter Brunch with the family was excellent! Great location.
Delicious fresh healthy dining.
Fantastic as always!!!
Warm, welcoming owners and staff against beautiful bay views. Our favorite place
The culinary experience is always magnifico here!! Cheffe Collette has impeccable taste and is a great conversationalist. You can not go wrong with anything here.
Enjoyed a romantic evening meal with my spouse during a low tide sunset. Chef Colette and our waitress were engaging and attentive. ABBA played (appropriately) for the Sweden themed event. We love The Inn Spot on The Bay!
The Inn Spot has been our favorite restaurant for years. We love the warm welcome. Colette and Pam have become friends. The setting and food are excellent.
Unique healthy special food. We love Colette and Pam ad the warm welcome at the Inn Spot! This is the antithesis of a formula restaurant. There cuisine is simple and elegant. Above all natural organic ingredients creatively and beautifully combined, always delicious .

My Dad, three children and I went here for Christmas dinner. Since my Mom had passed away earlier this year, I wanted to do something totally different and get us all out of the house. I was so happy to find that the Inn Spot offered a Christmas Day menu. The atmosphere, food, and staff could not have been nicer. My three teenage children even loved it. At first they couldn't understand why we were driving all the way out east for dinner. Now they will never forget this special Christmas dinner and neither will my Dad.
As always our meal and wine selections were delicious. We both opted for the duck which was perfectly cooked with a sauce that included marshmallow but was neither too sweet nor white and gooey, just a yummy, creative addition well disguised. This restaurant is noted for its surprising taste combinations.
Honestly the worst food I have ever been served. Fake crab served as Lobster. Over cooked duck, probably days old and reheated. Unbelievable horrible food.
Delicious, welcoming, a great find in the neighborhood. Will definitely be back
Food was bland and had no flavor. The place was nice but food wasn’t what I expected. Would not recommend.
Great service, view and food! Hamptons seafood cuisine with an international twist. Will be back!
Went to the Inn Spot for dinner with my husband. I had the Calamari for my appetizer, it was the best I ever had. Cooked perfectly. My husband had the chilled Carrot Ginger soup, amazing. Fir dinner we had the Tuna(perfectly cooked) and the Duck topped with a amazing marshmallow sauce. We finished sharing a homemade ice cream sampler. The waterfront dining was out of this world right on the Bay. The service was great. Cheffe Collette even can to find out how we enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back soon
There seemed to only be one waitress on and the hostess took our desert and coffee order Plater were small and expensive
The food portions were small, overpriced, and flavorless. Everything we ordered was sitting in a puddle of oil. Very disappointing.
I thought it was a stunning setting but the menu was bizarre and the food wasn’t very good. It is right next to an amazing fish market but the fish didn’t taste like it. I would go for drinks and the view, but not for a special occasion meal.
We go 2-3 times a year and have never had less than a terrific meal and first-class service. And what The Inn Spot offers that’s unique in the area is a spectacular setting without the noise and crowds of some of the oceanfront spots - or even other bayfront restaurants. And while that setting is gorgeous on a sunny summer evening, it’s wonderful even in a storm. No hesitation in giving 5 stars for this great place.
Good service food was good but not mouth watering
Great meal, great view. Hospitality was much appreciated. We will be going back.
We arrived and waited to be seated - restaurant almost empty. Some food good, some bizarre. Absolutely no style despite stunning location. Wait staff v obliging and nice people.
Bootle of sparkling was hot.
Food was cold, Duck and special fish very dry and not tasty.
Beef is just slide of deli beef.
The manager came to talk to us but no commercial gesture just blabla.
The service was very good, she apologized for the cooker.
Only the view is very nice.
As always, a magical night. Just love the view! Chefs Colette and Pam are the best!
Excellent experience. We were dining with a one and three year old so we required a bit of extra attention, but the restaurant staff could not have been nicer. It was also great to have the large lawn for the kids to be able to walk around between courses. Overall it was a wonderful evening. The tuna was very rare and excellent grade.
Great place to spend July 4th. Menu was creative and delicious. Waitress was attentive and friendly.
