About The Inn at Sugar Hill
The Courier Post recently honored the Inn with three & a half stars boasting, “Owner/chef Larry Boylan has put a kitchen full of thought into his waterside Inn at Sugar Hill.” That “thought” process has been ongoing for Boylan & his Inn for 22 years now, with no signs of letting up. “ I believe a good dining experience has the ability to not only nourish the body, but also nourish a persons’ soul… to be able to reach out & touch someone on that level is a high that gives me a lot of satisfaction & motivates me”, states Boylan. As an authentic Country Inn, the Inn at Sugar Hill has always strives to provide old world hospitality to both its’ dining & bed & breakfast guests. This philosophy has led to creating menus that reflect not only current culinary trends, but also respect the palates of those less adventurous. “Before I print a new menu I always look it over & say… what are my parents going to order & then… what are my teenage daughters going to like!

The Inn at Sugar Hill Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed our experience except for the obnoxious and very loud patron at the bar. He was loud, talked about himself constantly, and even included vulgar language (at least one "F" bomb). He also admitted that he was a former waiter at the Inn, and was out on disability (he dropped a motorcycle on his foot, or so he said). He was there before we arrived, and after we left, so I would suspect others had a similar negative experience.
My suggestion is to AVOID dining in the bar area, and RUN if you encounter this individual. He will be easy to spot.
We went for restaurant week. I had the crab bisque...there's wasn't much crab in it. For dinner I had scallops and mashed potatoes. The scallops were very small and cold. I told our server and it literally was heated in the microwave. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant. The water glass was dirty. There were things floating in my two beers. I was so disappointed. I've wanted to dine there for so long just never went and it did not even come close to meeting my expectations.
Loved everything about it. Our waiter was charming and a real gentleman. The Inn makes you want to stay there even if you live close by like us. So glad to say everyone should try this place. we even got to meet the owner as he was lighting the fireplaces that made it so cozy and warm as did the staff.
Went for Restuarant week and the portions were very small as small as the appetizers and the food was not good, Apps not good... Entrees I got Chicken Maryland that is hard to perfect so understandable not great ... my husband got chicken franchaise that was not even close to what chicken franchaise looks or taste like mashed potatoes were bland and chef vegetables the same. Spoonful of potatoes and vegetables. Desserts ok very disappointed for a week to put you you best foot forward to impress. Services not great not a friendly atmosphere. We go out to dinner at least once a week first time venturing to Mays landing. Very disappointed is a Beautiful Restaurant need to improve service and food quality.
Great restaurant for any special occasion. Food is excellent. Must try the scallops...delicious!! Ambience is romantic located on waterfront lake with a one man singer beginning at 6 pm. They have early bird specials and happy hour at bar. Service was good, but not exceptional. Waitresses are too young to tell you about the wines. And seem to lack proper training for elite service. I had to ask for bread.... but it was good and served warm! I would recommend this restaurant.
Party of four got together for a nice meal and to spend some fun time together in a nice atmosphere. We started in the bar with some wine. The bar itself was awesome with great woodwork, great wine selections and a bartender who was very busy but found ample time to see to our needs.
The menu was creative and the dining rooms nicely done with a fireplace. I chose tuna andit was delicious but slightly overdone. I ordered rare but it was more like medium rare. Nevertheless, it tasted awesome. Everyone in our party greatly enjoyed their meal, including the deserts.
The waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. He left us alone to enjoy the food and our friends, but was there quickly when we needed him. We did not feel rushed and overall had a wonderful time.
We are all looking forward to our next visit.
Our dinner at The Imn of Sugar Hill was a wonderful experience from start to finish! We were seated at a cozy table in the dining room. Our waiter Adriane was very attentive and very knowledgeable on the menu. We had a late reservation but the staff was wonderful and didn't seem to mind our late hour. The food was excellent and we will definitely dine there again.
I can't brag on the food, sorry...soup was good. Between an expensive steak, ahi tun, and meatloaf, none were very good. I also had rosemary potatoes that were cool and bland, seemed to be a reheat from the weekend. Staff were professional and courteous. They gave me a glass of wine in exchange for a meal I did not eat. I assume they attribute my dislike of the ahi being raw but that is not the case as it is a favorite of mine, it was mushy and gave me a sick feeling. They do have a very nice view and the bar is nice. It's a little outdated as an event venue for those who might be particular.
This experience was simply amazing! The staff was very friendly! Our server Teresa was awesome! It felt like we had known forever, yet we just met. The restaurant food was delicious! I had chicken Maryland which was so good, the crabmeat to drool over. My wife had fishermens stew which is pricey, but worth every penny. The children's menu is awesome! It's hard to explain but children are welcome to this b&b restaurant. The owner even noticed the room we were sitting in was a little warm. Before I even sat down at our table, he turned down the temp. Wasn't hot, wasn't cold. I recommend making reservations, in a packed house it will probably sit about 15 families of 4. So it's small but not a uppity feeling like you don't belong. They make you feel welcome! Just can't say enough good things about this place!
Went for dinner and the dacor and room were nice and the location quaint. The value for the money was not on par and the food was not anything to remember. I think the food sat on the line waiting to be picked up and was not up to temp. looks like a good place to grab a drink and some apps at the bar.
We had waited so long to visit this restaurant with great anticipation only to be majorly disappointed! We found the waiter to be a bit snooty, and sorry to say there was nothing outstanding about the food! I can think of several other establishments to get a better fare
Than this restaurant and for less cost! That said it was a one and done!
Food was very good, just enough portion. Everyone was very friendly. Table for 2 could have been a little larger. I had crab cakes w/2 sides. The cakes were louded with crab meat, excellent. All in all had a great night. Would recommend this place, plan to return again.
Had a very friendly server (wish I could remember her name) the food was great. Took my parents there for their 56th Anniversary. My dad loved the crab cakes, very meaty he said. I had the grass fed steak with the coffee rub, again good quality and cooked spot on medium rare. Everyone was happy, and also the crab bisque was awesome as well. We didn't get to sit outside, will probably do that next time I'm down that way and the weather is right. All in a pleasurable dinner.
