The Inn’s dining rooms are pure fantasy – a wondrous cocoon of luxury. Rose-colored, silk lampshades float above each table creating a private, romantic world below. The Chef’s creations arrive at one of the 30 intimate tables as if served by invisible hands, course after course, more dazzling than the last. From the award winning 12,000 bottle wine cellar, which includes the finest offerings from Bordeaux, Burgundy, California and Virginia, the Sommelier plays matchmaker between you, your dinner and the wine.

The late Craig Claiborne of The New York Times called it “the most magnificent inn I’ve ever seen, in this country or Europe, where I had the most fantastic meal of my life”. Patrick’s approach to cooking, while paying homage to the lawmakers of Classical French Cuisine, reflects a belief in “the cuisine of today”, healthy, eclectic, imaginative, unrestricted by ethnic boundaries and always growing.

Very creative, beautiful, and deliciouses meal. The staff is top notch to say the least. If you are looking for a wanderful place to celebrate any special occasion this should be at the top of your list. They treat every guest as if they are the most important person in the room. The food and atmosphere was well worth our three hour drive.

While the food was amazing, I felt for a 3-star michelin restaurant, the customer service provided by Alejandro was waning a bit. There were crumbs all over the table and not removed in between courses, also the plates lingered on the table longer than they should have. There is also the option to swap dessert for decadent cheeses (from Faira the cheese cow). It would have been nice if this was mentioned, we didn’t find out until we were reviewing our menu later at home.

It is quite rare for an establishment with such a reputation to outperform expectations. The Inn at Little Washington is a must for any American, nay, anyone in the world who has an interest in fine dining.

Disappointment is our reaction to our anniversary dining at the Inn at Little Washington. I have been to this restaurant before remembering wonderful meals. Unfortunately I found the dining experience this time to be--what--formulaic... First I found the tasting menus to be rather constraining--although it is certainly more efficient to do things this way. BUT, when one is paying on the order of $760 for dinner for two with the wine pairing one expects everything too be not only perfect--but astounding. With regret, we found "The Gastronaut's Menu" to be much less than that. Perhaps we should have ordered the "Four Decades of Our Enduring Classics".... Simply put: The Chilled Beets "Fettuccine" with caviar was "nice", but not spectacular; the "Caramelized Catalan Custard with Foie Gras and Montmorency Cherries was indeed SPECTACULAR--exactly what we were hoping for across the board--but unfortunately the one dish that was such; the King Salmon Poached in Olive Oil.... again was "nice".. well prepared, but skimpy and not very interesting... and served with a Walter Scott Oregon Chardonnay that was just simply "off". Perhaps we just were not happy with the particular, peculiar [?] minerality of this wine-- or was it the rather "funky" after taste... but it was just not to our liking.... Should have sent it back... The next course, "Roasted Veal Tenderloin with ... Ravioli in a Tomato Cream sounded much better than it tasted. The three small medallions of veal were fine, but not amazing, or flavorful... not interesting. The single ravioli was "OK"... but just that. The sauce--weak and uninspired--from a restaurant that just earned its third Michelin star based on its sauces. Hard to understand why such a bland dish is offered. Not that it and the salmon weren't well-prepared, they just lacked depth of flavor, culinary interest. We chose the cheese cart for dessert with Cameron which was fun. In sum, not worth the extreme costs and below expectations.

The food and ambiance was wonderful but what truly made the experience fantastic was the service. Both the dining and wine/beverage staff were engaging and friendly, the perfect amount of banter and information. They set you at ease and diffuse what could easily be a stuffy experience with their warmth and individual personalities.

I’ve thought awhile about what I wanted to convey with this review. I think this is an excellent dining destination. The food and service were impeccable. Something that deterred from our overall experience was how closely the tables are to one another. This is a particularly an issue with the banquettes. Given how expensive the restaurant is and that it is a venue people choose to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other milestones with, it seems that removing a table or two would help so guests don’t feel like they are on top of one another, which we did. We were seated so close to another couple that we felt as though we were at the same table, but we weren’t. It lacks the kind of intimacy that I feel is very important for a restaurant with such a grand reputation. While removing some tables would mean a bit less revenue, it certainly would do a lot to enhance the experience.

Most outstanding experience. The two hour drive from DC was worth every minute. Our party of five including a 16 year old birthday was a memorable evening and she enjoyed every bite. One cannot be pretentious at this very fine restaurant for it is quirky and fun. Thank you for a great evening.

Everything works together to make it an incredible experience, from the super friendly staff, prompt service, attention to detail, exquisite cuisine, artistic touches, the chef's story, the wine list, ... and on and on. Words fail me. Just go. You won't regret it.

Way overpriced! I travel all over the world quite frequently and have experienced numerous Michelin star restaurants. Spending 1k on a 2 hour dinner that is set in a “grandmas house” atmosphere was disappointing. Food was mediocre and I am boggled by what all the hype is about this establishment.

I had an accident with my dessert and I apologized for the mishap to our server. Our server did not respond to my apology which I would have expected. Our 25th Anniversary personalized menu had a mistake in my Husband's name. When I received my phone call to confirm our reservation I tried to spell my Husband's unusual name and she stated it was not necessary. We were not told about the special treat of popcorn that could be served while in the lounge area.

Got this reservation for my parents 55th Anniversary. In short, they are going to be talking about the wonderful experience for the rest of their lives! The staff at the Inn did an absolutely superb job of making them feel special. The food was world class and the atmosphere was everything that is advertised. Yes, it is expensive, but worth every penny. I really appreciate how easy the staff made it to organize this dinner and get the details right. Cannot provide enough positive feedback about how well this very important event worked out. Thanks so much from the entire family!

As always the food and service were top notch. We did the wine pairing with the gastronaut menu. Every course was delicious, and great pairings except wasn't too crazy about pairing a sweet white port with the goose liver. A little on the heavy side. The perfect portion size allows you to savor every course! It's always a treat eating there.

Every single thing about the Inn was delightful! We were served by the very charming Jessie, who was knowledgeable, sweet, funny, and just lovely. Jess - one of the managers was also very kind and checked in on us as well as providing a special treat at the end of the night.

We sat with a view of the garden and each course was delectable. My favorites were the potato crisp canoli and the Alaskan halibut, but really - every single dish was creative and tantalizing to our palettes. My wife felt very celebrated and this will be an extremely memorable milestone celebration for her new coaching business. Thanks to everyone at the Inn and of course Chef Patrick for creating an unforgettable dining experience.

It’s been about 7 years since I was there last. The Inn still has outstanding food and service. Be ready for dinner to take 2.5 hours. Many course of small tastey dishes.

I will say I like the old menu format better. Halibat is my favorite fish, but the first course was raw oysters. No way. Was nicer when you could pick each course.

Went there husband's 50th birthday. It was a lovely meal, but the vegetarian option was just okay. And I think of all the restaurants I've in the world, is it really up there in that rare air? I just expected something over the top delicious or clever, and we got pretty food with okay flavors. I bet they killed it back in the day. May meed a refresh.
