The Inn at Little Washington
The late Craig Claiborne of The New York Times called it “the most magnificent inn I’ve ever seen, in this country or Europe, where I had the most fantastic meal of my life”. Patrick’s approach to cooking, while paying homage to the lawmakers of Classical French Cuisine, reflects a belief in “the cuisine of today”, healthy, eclectic, imaginative, unrestricted by ethnic boundaries and always growing.

Not worth the price tag. Service was great, but food was average for $100 dinner, let alone a $700 dinner.
Server staff was amazing, Walter was one of the best waiters I’ve had.
Amazing 1st class experience at the Inn at Little Washington. The service and food are outstanding. We loved staying at the Inn.
Decadent meal. Such attention to detail - and what an opulent setting for a special christmas meal. The food was spectacular.
A dining experience. Tasty, creative food that was enjoyable, teased the senses and satisfied without over stuffing us. I’ll return for a table in the kitchen.
This is hands-down one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Not pretentious. The food is amazing. The service is amazing. The ambience is really adorable. Quite expensive but worth the experience.
A special place. The Christmas decks put you in the mood. Food and service can’t be described adequately. Just go and enjoy.
Amazing in every way!
Dinner was exceptional from start to finish. We arrived 30 minutes early and were seated with no question and dinner began. Meal lasted 2 hours and each course was well spaced for reflection. We were offered a tour of the kitchen after dinner which was breathtaking.
One of the finest meals we have enjoyed. Every aspect of the dining experience was excellent.
No words. Worth every penny.
We have been going to The Inn for the past 17 years and it never fails to impress with the amazing food and attentive service. Everyone should have a visit to The Inn on their bucket list.
Fantastic food and fabulous experience!
As expected, perfect execution around the food. Service was near perfect, minus the quick mumbling of the wine server. Great meal, but no matter how good it was/is, no meal is worth $1,000.
The restaurant and staff pay extraordinary attention to details while being friendly, engaging and informative. The courses were amazing and the wine pairings exceptional. A lovely evening to spend with family.
Thanksgiving dinner was great!
Service was great! We did not know that uber or lyft do not operate in that area so they were very accommodating and immediately arranged a ride for us back to DC after our dinner. Thanks so much for helping us and making our thanksgiving special and memorable.
Unlike any other dining experience. Amazing in every way possible!
The Inn never ceases to amaze and wow me. I’m sure there are people out there that don’t adore this restaurant but I have never met them. The only thing better than the food is the service.
I was pretty disappointed! My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and were so excited to dine here after hearing so much about the ambience, the service, and the food. While some of the dishes truly were stand out, others just felt okay. I think most of all, though, we were disappointed by the service. We were seated right next to a waiter stand, and literally was sprayed with champagne from a waiter opening another table's bottle... without them even noticing or apologizing. Our waiter also didn't walk us through the menu at all, or offer any suggestions on drinks or pairings. Definitely a nice dinner, but not at all what I expected for a three michelin star restaurant. :(
Nice evening, memorable. Would not do the wine pairings again.
No way to get back to D.C. without renting a car (not sober) or spending $200 on a taxi. No Uber. Female hostess was not friendly
Simply amazing. One of the best meals of my entire life!
Everything was perfection. I am lost for words.
The staff were enjoyable to talk to, and enjoyed serving. I brought my service dog with me and he was treated as a member of our party.
We tasted both protein menus, and now it's spoiled food for us forever. We will always be on the look out for anything that comes close to this magical night.
Lovely experience, amazing food, perfect staff, worth the drive and the wait for the reservations and of course the price.
This was without question one of the best meals I have ever had. Chef O’Connell is a master (and a really nice guy).
Everything that I hoped it would be. This place has been on my bucket list for a long time and we finally made the trip. The Inn fits the small town perfectly. At first I was worried the food/decor would seem dated and something of the past, but because they lean into it it becomes a wonderful trip to the past that just happens to serve the best food you've ever had. Our party was large enough that someone was able to order all three of the tasting menus. Every single one was exceptional, but I loved the creativity and effort put into the vegetarian menu, something a lot of restaurants overlook. The price is obviously high, and I wouldn't make a habit of going here, but coming away we all agreed it was worth every single penny.
An amazing dining experience for my birthday! The staff was so accommodating and unpretentious. I will definitely be back!
The Inn Is a three-star Michelin rated experience. We have some experience with Michelin rated places (1-2 star places) and it is definitely on par with the top places we have been to in terms of food and service.
This place has a different feel. Very classic, refined, and traditional. The young wait staff keeps things energetic though. The decor reflects it as such and all men seem to be wearing sport coats, jackets, suits, etc while the women wore slacks or dresses. There’s is no dress code but recommend wearing that to feel comfortable and not out of place not that the staff would make you feel that way.
The food menu was excellent. My wife and I choose two different menus to get the range of what they could offer. Nearly everything is locally sourced and has been that way for years. Definitely recommend going out of your way for. Will definitely visit again.
What a remarkable experience we enjoyed at the Inn. It was incredible in every conceivable way. The service was superb. We couldn’t have felt more welcome. Every dish was divine. The kitchen and wait staff was so attuned to gluten free dining which made my experience all the more enjoyable. What a gem the Inn is! Treat yourself to a visit. You will be glad you did.
This is what you look for when you book a restaurant like this! The food is amazing! The service is impeccable and the experience unforgettable... I would love to go again!! It’s well worth the money!! Best meal of my life!!
Reserved a kitchen table for anniversary and one night at the Inns Carter House.
Exceeded wildest dreams in accommodations but more so in the dining experience. Walked into the kitchen to Gregorian chants playing in the background. Staring at Chef O'Connell 40 foot directly in front of us, flanked behind him by a line of I think 8 sous chefs giving us a grand welcome. A man dressed in Alter Boy regalia of red and white swinging a chained burning smoking container of incense. We were stunned as we met the Chef, whom was so very gracious, and were guided to our table. The meal was exquisite and seemed to build to a crescendo with each course served. We chose to have the meals paired with wine suggestions. While we chose deserts and were overwhelmed by the sumptuous and artistic mastery of each morsel, next time we will choose the cheese selections in lieu of the sweets. The following morning we chose the breakfast included with room and overjoyed we did, it was as unique, unexpected and wonderful as was every step we took at this Land of Oz. This extravaganza set us back around $2,400 and i can't really believe i would ever say this but here goes....it was worth every dollar!
Absolutely incredible experience
Well-earned reputation. Great food, service, and setting.
A gem, simply the best on all accounts. We booked a room and it came with afternoon tea and breakfast. Experience how royalty live, in America. Quaint town, with interesting walks. This is the only Micheline 3 star location in the DC area, possibly in the US. A pioneer in what is now called farm to table, they have many local products and unique sources around the country, including three cows they own in Vermont. The cuisine is outstanding. The meals are set courses, but you can do some mixing between the three menus. Service is outstanding. Noise level is quiet, so you can have nice conversations. Outstanding destination for special occasions.
The best of the best in the DC area. Nothing else is close.
5 year anniversary amazing!
Service was amazing. Never had to want anything because everyone was always around looking to help. We added the cheesecart and I recommend it for anyone dining here. Neil was amazing and gave us a great tour of the kitchen. Chef was hospitable as well. Beautiful restaurant, amazing food and a night to remember.
Very creative, beautiful, and deliciouses meal. The staff is top notch to say the least. If you are looking for a wanderful place to celebrate any special occasion this should be at the top of your list. They treat every guest as if they are the most important person in the room. The food and atmosphere was well worth our three hour drive.
While the food was amazing, I felt for a 3-star michelin restaurant, the customer service provided by Alejandro was waning a bit. There were crumbs all over the table and not removed in between courses, also the plates lingered on the table longer than they should have. There is also the option to swap dessert for decadent cheeses (from Faira the cheese cow). It would have been nice if this was mentioned, we didn’t find out until we were reviewing our menu later at home.
We would have given The Inn at Little Washington the third star years ago. Well deserved! Very special venue.
