The Inn at Baldwin Creek & Mary's Ratings and Reviews
Fabulous service. We had Sunday brunch...WOW! Crab cakes were more crab & less breading, boar meatballs were out of this world, the other two meals, well I can't spell them but we were delighted. We had an 11 month old and his meal was brought out in advance of ours...that was a first and it was a saving grace. Happy baby, happy guests...kudos to our lovely server. My cocktail was remarkable. Wish I could remember the name of it...but our server was also the bartender and she gave me exact ingredients. Perfect birthday for this lady. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
been here several times (10-15) throughout last 11 years. This past time was not up to par. Slow service, perhaps understaffed. 25 min to get a beer after placing the order; empty water glass for 20 min. Food was fairly good, maybe slightly less so then in the past. Bypassed dessert.
We have visited Mary's several times and three things about the restaurant stand out: the setting is peaceful and lovely, the service is efficient and friendly, and the food quite good. Our recent visit for brunch was on a very busy morning with lots of college parents and scions dining. Nonetheless, our food was delivered promptly and our server did not seem stressed. There did seem to be some confusion in the kitchen (we were told they were out of selection and then told they had it) but not a big deal. The restaurant's ambiance also was not as sedate as usual, a bit noisy, the large dining area was reserved for a bus load of "leaf peepers" and other guests shunted to a smaller room.
The food was generally up to its usual standards: as described and tasty. My order of garlic soup was not as warm as it should have been and seemed to have a different consistency than normal, but still very good. Our entrees (breakfast burrito and farm-hand scramble) were good (we finished all of each) but seemed to lack the usual presentation flair that Chef Doug provides.
All in all, our brunch was pleasant, it was a beautiful fall day, and my dining partner was lovely. We will definitely go back -- just perhaps not on parent's weekend!
Delicious! The pork loin absolutely delicious. The service was great! Perfect place for friends to catch up, the tables were not close together and it was quiet and relaxing, good place for conversation. The drinks were a fun touch, we would especially recommend the "He Who Should Not Be Named." We will definitely come back when we're next in Vermont!
Exquisite. Flawless. Delightful. Everything was fantastic. I went with vegetarian choices. The special enchilada with black beans and butternut squash was an unusual combination that was perfection. I requested the rainbow salad in place of the salad offered. The server graciously made the substitution. Hubby had the pork loin and was as pleased with his as I was with mine. We each had the individual bundt cake with bourbon glaze. Yummy. It's been a long time and many meals since I've enjoyed dinner this much. I was as pleased with the bill as I was the meal. It was a perfect evening. Thanks Mary.
Very much enjoyed our experience there with my wife, brother and his wife! Took advantage of the "Burger Night" which proved to be a wonderful choice for each of us. Has been too long since our last visit and won't let that happen again. Love that it's local, great ambiance, engaging waiter, and great food! Thank you Linda and Doug!
Mary's is one of our favorite restaurants, the menu changes based on what's fresh in the garden making every meal different but equally delicious. The owner, Doug Mack and his staff treat you like family weather your a regular or first time patron. It's about an hour away and we'll worth the trip. They also offer cooking classes that are are lot of fun and end up with a 4 course meal.
We had both soups (garlic cream & green gazpacho.) We love their garlic soup; it's world famous for a reason. The gazpacho tasted fresh and clean. My spouse had the fish special & I had the flounder. Both were excellent. The blackberry pie we shared for dessert was just fine.
The first time I've been here. My mom has RAVED about the garlic soup for years, so last month my mom and I gathered up a friend and headed down from Hinesburg to the restaurant for dinner. So worth the drive and I will definitely be back when I'm visiting family and friends in Vermont.
We always try to eat dinner at least once a year at Mary's as it is a special treat - particularly in the summer when there are so many local options on the menu. Soups are always good - I had the green gazpacho and my husband had the famous garlic soup- again. I opted for the roast duck which was good but not great. Steve's beef tenderloin was perfect. I had the chocolate torte for dessert which I found disappointing - quite sure it wasn't made that day. Steve's local Lulu ice-cream was fantastic.
Mary's continues to be a favorite of ours for the occasional special dinner and we will return again.
Simply put, Mary's at Baldwin Creek is a Vermont treasure. Comfortable and homey yet special. We were four vegetarians and our wait staff took excellent care of us. We shared three small plates, two entrees( steer clear of the tofu piccata) and two desserts. All flavors were different and for "foodies" like us we enjoyed most every bite. We thank everyone for a terrific dining experience.
We drove over from the Mad River Valley and in summer its only 30 mins! The food and signature cocktails were amazing. We had not been in about ten years and was happy to see the Chef is still cranking out incredible food, in fact I think his local farm to table repertoire has gotten even better.
I had a delicious signature cocktail of basil, tequila, Aperol, rose and sparkiling water, YUM!!
The avocado fries, lentil fritters, duck all really delicious.
it was worth it !!
We go there so often, they make us feel like 'family'. This was the first time my son could join us which made it special for us. Their signature garlic soup is amazing but the green gazpacho is a wonderful summer alternative.
A delightful experience, as always!
