They were closed.. you shouldn't have the ability to book something if it's closed. they were not even open for takeout
Take off reservation options if the restaurant is not open! We drove a long way to get here only to find out it was closed
The service was exceptional, and the bottomless hibiscus mimosas were everything!
The anticipated wait time was long. Placed name on list anyways and was told we would be notified once a table cleared out. Was never sent a text nor notified of any updates on our table. Ended up looking and dining elsewhere in the area. Was disappointed with service and lack of updates.
Incredible food! Great burgers, wings, and fries. The drinks were a little weak, but overall great experience and nice ambiance.
Thanks so much for the great review, we look forward to seeing you again soon!
This restaurant
The Independence was the spot I chose for my girlfriend's birthday brunch and let me tell you it was FUN! There was a group of 5 of us and we were treated very well! The staff was great, the food was amazing -everything we had was delicious!! We will definitely go back as we were treated as if they were waiting for us to arrive and always kept checking in on us and our bottomless mimosas were most definitely bottomless!! Fantastic day thanks to The Independence!!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review, please come back and visit us soon!
Went there on a Saturday for mimosa brunch. It took forever to get seated and then getting served took forever also. Food was ...fine.
Our server was AMAZING. manager was great. Food the greatest. Thanks for the best brunch experience.
Great music!
The food was really good. Outdoor seating was not so great, sitting on the curb. The server could have been more attentive. I’d go back when indoor dining begins.
Our server was great. He allowed us to take time choosing items from the menu. We never felt rushed. He brought water for the dog as well. As far as food, everything was great even the flour-leas chocolate cake was divine. Definitely recommend this place.
I came for bottomless mimosas and was very pleased with the overall dining options.
Great menu, food was delicious. Had an amazing cocktail with a charred smoked pepper and tequila and agave -- really one of my favorites of all time. Unfortunately, the restaurant was slammed just as we arrived and our order got lost in the shuffle, so we waited a verrrrrrry long time for our meal. However, once the manager realized what happened, he explained and apologized respectfully, and we were comped a couple of desserts, to boot. So we left very happy even after having to wait too long. If you're considering going here, I wouldn't hesitate: Even if you do have to wait --and you very probably won't -- the food is still excellent and worth it.
The last two times I’ve come here, I’ve gotten conflicting information about what is actually gluten free. It makes eating here really stressful. I don’t know which waitress is giving me correct information, or if they really know what is safe for me to eat. The food is good, but I’m scared I’ll get sick so I am hesitant to return. Please train the staff consistently - I am not expecting to be able to eat everything, but I want to know what I can eat that won’t make me sick.
The girl pouring mimosas skipped a few of my friends for no reason and then never came back to fill them up. Disappointed. Our main mail server was fantastic though!!!
Their chicken sandwich is outstanding. Tried the seafood pasta -- lovely moderately spicy taste of the sauce, generous on well prepared seafood in it, but the pasta was a little too al dente. Fish & chips were also pretty good. Nice, energetic vibe.
Always have a fantastic time at the Independence. Staff, food and venue are great!
Fantastic bottomless brunch deal; our waitress was friendly and super on top of refilling our glasses before we had to ask, which can’t be said for many bottomless deals. The food was great as well, and the ambiance was fun but not overwhelmingly loud/crazy.
Food was decent and so was service. Not sure if it was worth the price though. I’m sure it’s cause it’s a touristy area that causes the price to be higher
Great food. We came with a large group including children so we appreciated the noise level. Good drinks
Our group had the avocado toast with egg, burger and truffle fries. $60 with tip and the food was average at best.
Great all around!
The service was very slow. They may have been confused who was waiting our table because we had two people come up to us. On a not busy night, took over 30 minutes for us to get our drinks.
My boyfriend and I decided to have brunch for my birthday there. We get a great table by the window. We order a round of drinks and truffle fries to start. My boyfriends drink comes out the fries comes out and my mimosa never arrives. It took about 10 minutes of looking around to find my waitress and wave her over. After that she apologizes and grabs my mimosa. Once we get our entrees from a runner he has to fill up my bottomless mimosa because I didn’t see my waitress since she brought it after forgetting. Bottomless was 2 glasses of mimosas because she wasn’t around. My boyfriend ordered chicken and waffles and he wanted more syrup that took another 10 minutes to find and wave her down.
I’ll return for drinks at the bar but for service no thank you
Went here for brunch. Food was okay, but of the four dishes ordered, nothing stood out as special. Staff was great.
Great ambiance and the kale salad with the avocado toast was great. The drinks were also fun.
great experience loved bottom less mimosas.eggs Benedict was not customized to preference
Usually have good experiences but the service was terrible this time.
The service was great and even for a busy Saturday night it wasn't so crowded you couldn't move. The drinks were good and the waiter really helped us out in selecting the right ones. We decided to do apps instead of a full meal but we were stuffed and it was great to have a taste of everything. The Mac abd cheese and hummus were a huge hit.
This was a wonderful surprise. The menu, though small, has a wide variety of food offerings. My girlfriend had the pan-fried halibut which was extremely flavorful and moist, yet firm. I had what may be the best hamburger I have had in a long while - juicy [yet medium], with aged cheddar and superb bacon and lettuce and pickles. I'm hungry again just thinking about it! They had great cocktails as well and a solid liquor selection.
This place has good food, not great. We sat outside, big mistake...homeless yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs making us feel uncomfortable. Then cops arresting one that had pushed another one and knocked over bikes. Would not have a business brunch here again.
Pretty cool place and food is very good too
Excellent for brunch
Bottomless mimosas for $20 for 2 hours
Very inattentive service
Service is slow. Food isn’t good enough to wait long for. Super noisy.
Good brunch but not very inventive. Boring menu. Enjoyed the drinks. Very young crowd.
Our sever was great! Really personable and let us just enjoy our time. Food was good as usual. My go to spot in Santa Monica always delivers!
Food was average, overpriced.
The food was average. We had the steak frites, the Mac and cheese and the filet mignon skewers. The ribeye was good, MAC and cheese was average but stepped up once the bacon was added. The filet skewers didn’t seem like a filet cut due to the lack of tenderness but who knows.
The best part was the ambiance. Cute place, hip decor and a nice patio. The service that we received was below average and in a town with such great dining, you’ve got to step up your service. Waters were empty numerous times, wine came out with the food, then asked for a bottle opener to uncork again and pour another glass after we had corked ourselves to take home and never received that so we kept corked and took home.
At one point, another server actually came to our table and grabbed our check to ring it thru since it had been sitting there for quite some time and we were now ready to leave. Maybe a better place for a patio happy hour instead of dinner?
