The Hunt Room at the Desmond Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Not good. Service for brunch Sunday was poor. Friendly waitress when you could find her. Scrambled eggs were runny. Are reservation months for 11 AM and they were already out of some of the food on the buffet.
Coffee was decent. My dad had day cream chipped beef and there was hardly anything you finish the Spanis coffee was decent. My dad had day cream chipped beef and there was hardly any seats in a beef in it.
The carving station had quark had pork that was not fully cooked. Poor selection on buffet and not a lot of choices. I would not go back for brunch !!
Met here for lunch with my lady friends and I must say this place exceeded my expectations. Our waitress, Jackie, was a gem and treated us like royalty. The ambience and food were outstanding, and their lunch buffet was amazing for $15.99. Definitely recommend this venue. So happy my friend suggested this lovely and elegant restaurant.
excellent service, food outstanding, first time though i could not get a meat entree as a rule, the pasta is meat free, this time it had ham in it.
need to serve at least one meat free entree. not everyone is a meat eater.
colin, the server as always was outstanding
Our party of four was very pleasantly greeted and seated promptly in the very nicely decorated Hunt Room. The server, Megan, was friendly and efficient. Two in our party enjoyed their meals, while the other two were not pleased with the cool temperature of the mashed potatoes and asparagus that accompanied the stuffed sole. While the meal was tasty, it would have been enjoyed much more had it arrived hot. The coffee and desserts were quite good. If this had been the first time at this restaurant, I doubt I would return. However, my past experiences here have always been good and I will be returning.
We went to the Desmond expecting it to be good, and we weren't disappointed. The choice of food was exceptional, as well as the service and the display. The dessert selection was superior to other buffets we have attended. The ambiance of the Desmond's Hunt Room is just right for a Sunday brunch. And you can't beat it for the price, and that, surprising to us, included beverages.
Food was very tasty BUT all five of us wished the Sunday Brunch serving vessels were kept covered when not in use by other customers so that food could remain hot. Prepared scrambled eggs and steamed veges were cold. Most of the other supposedly hot items like fish and pasta dish were lukewarm. Nice cold salad bar options including fresh fruit cup. Ample dessert choices. Carved meats tender. Bread assortment adequate. Our table server was wonderful. She was very caring and helpful.
We arrived for Sunday brunch at noon. It was an off Sunday and the Hunt Room was nearly empty but the buffet was ready to go. Everything - let me emphasize everything - was fine but it was as if something wasn't right. Maybe it was the near-empty dining room. Maybe we weren't even there! The report to Open Table said we didn't show up! Wow!
After dining here over 20 times, you have great expectations. Mimi, our server, surpassed those expectations. She was charming, attentive and a delight.
The menu offers enough good choices without the added daily specials, only to entice you.
The meal begins with small offerings of bruschetta. Warm rolls and cranberry muffins are a treat.
The prices are high, but the quality of the food and service can justify it.
Wonderful Sunday brunch. Great food. Terrific service. Two disappointments: First no one was working at the carving stations the entire time we were there for brunch. Other diners did ask the chef at the omelette station to do some carving, but they had to wait until he was done with his other duties. Secondly, due to the popularity of the restaurant and hotel, parking is somewhat limited and not really close to the restaurant. Needing a handicapped space, we found none available while the only remaining space was about 500 feet away.
Don't miss the opportunity to try this Sunday brunch. You will enjoy it.
4of us dined together and had a nice selection from the menu. The price fixe was the best value. Soups and salads were excellent. Salmon was good but a little too dry. Crab cake and filet were very good. Key lime pie, banana cream pie and dark chocolate torte were all outstanding. We were never rushed
beautiful hotel, service perfect, guests need to dress for this, i saw men sitting in the dining room wearing tee shirts, the servers are dressed better. raise the bar, not lower it. hotel hershey requires jackets for men. at least a nice dress shirt would do here. even better a jacket and tie.
I love the food, ambiance and service but the price makes it not somewhere I would often frequent for lunch or dinner. I had a $25 off coupon and the bill for three of us was still $38 (the $25 coupon was already credited from actual cost) for lunch....no alcohol included in the price, only a glass of iced tea. I had a delicious crab cake entree, my aunt had salmon and my husband had a club sandwich, no desserts. I find their food and service always outstanding. Wait staff is very friendly and courteous. And it is one of the few quiet places around to eat.
Brunch at the Desmond is always enjoyable -- a wide selection of food that is well prepared. They manage to absorb a lot of people and generally keep the food replenished (some of the desserts notably the eclairs, disappeared and weren't available). Our server, Anne Marie, managed a lot of tables and did so gracefully -- we never felt rushed or neglected.
We use this brunch as a means to celebrate special occasions and our recent visit lived up to our hopes.
this dining room is by far one of the nicest in the area, i am from lancaster county, but my suggestion would be to establish a minimum dress code here. this is not the place for "men" to be wearing hats, and t-shirts. maybe it is just the decline of society and the rush to casualize everything, but you do not make it better by lowering the bar, you improve by raising it.
Dinner portions were significantly smaller than in past years. Vegetables were all luke warm and our steaks were nowhere near the advertised 8oz fillet as stated in menu...considerably smaller in size . Rolls were very hard and tasted stale. No longer a favorite dining choice for my family.
We had a lovely celebratory lunch -- the selection was very good and the food tasty. We had a very leisurely brunch and were not rushed. The one suggestion I would make would be for at least one more vegetable option.
The room can be noisy when it is full, and this is a popular place for brunch. Good reputation, well deserved.
