As we usually are, we were completely pleased with every aspect of dining at the Desmond, for any reason, etc.
Greeters, servers, new summer menu, acceptance of COUPONS, are some of the things that never fail us at the GV Desmond. It is soon to be newly decorated and we can't wait to see that.
Adjoining the Hunt room is the friendly bar, which we often visit.
Awesome for a nicer meal. Food and server was great!
The Desmond was wonderful! We got married there 7 years ago, and go back every year for our anniversary.
Waitress friendly; nice atmosphere, respectable.
Food could have been warmer/hotter.
Depending how you like to eat your food when served
on a plate, make sure the waitress knows, if applicable, you
like to eat your food separated from each other on the plate.
Otherwise some entrees, vegetables, potatoes, etc.,
are served in one pile, not individually separated.
WE GO FOR BRUNCH AT LEAST 1-2 TIMES PER MONTH WITH MY IN LAWS, HOWEVER OVER THE LAST YEAR THE SUNDAY BRUNCH HAS DECLINED GREATLY. THE STAFF (COLIN) IS OUTSTANDING. WE CONTINUE TO GO BECAUSE OF MY INLAWS.
Sunday Brunch was very enjoyable. Particularly liked the Mahi Mahi fish and tender string beans among the cooked dishes in addition to traditional breakfast foods and salad offerings. Carrot cake at dessert table was welcome treat this week.
Daily lunch and Sunday brunch are always excellent owing to the fine daytime kitchen management. Not always true for dinnertime dining however.
We've been fans of the Hunt Room for years. But ... this visit was disappointing. First we found that they gave the table we had requested six days in advance to people who had not requested it. Then the food was definitely not up to their usual standards. Only the crab soup was still as excellent as always. Service was pretty good. Cost for 4 with tip was $264, including one drink each.
Food was awesome as usual. Prices are a little upscale but the food is worth it. Service is very friendly and attentive. The bread pudding is delicious. We have been there multiple times and never been disappointed.
This was my first brunch at The Hunt Club. The variety of foods available to choose from was excellent. The quality and flavor of the food was outstanding. I particularly liked the flank steak and the pork loin roast. The variety of offerings extended to the desserts where the bread pudding with creme anglaise was one of the options. This is by far one of the best bread puddings I have ever tasted.
We come for brunch about 2 times a month, enjoy the booths or two chair seating by Windows and service from waitress.
Eggs Benedict needed more Hollandsise! And only one served!!!??? Potatoes - very ordinary..prefer home fries or lyonnaise wth Benedict... ...pastries - some very ordinary. Creamed chipped beef pretty good. Flank steak tasty. Salmon tasty. Bloody Mary too weak.
Another exceptional evening at the Hunt Room! Ten years plus of double exchanged birthday and Christmas gifts!! A cherished micro-vacation of 5 star service from Jackie!! She is the zenith by which all other service is measured in my book!!
Shrimp cocktail to come back for, savory lamb tenderloin and believe it or not, elevated Silver Queen creamed corn!
For me, it feels like an exclusive club and I get to be a member!!
service is always perfect, nice view, the staff is friendly and the hotel property is beautiful. priced right too.
Our dining experience in the Hunt Room at the Desmond Hotel is always a pleasure
Our server Mimi was exceptional! She made the dining experience great. We opted for the Prix Fixe Menu. Shrimp cocktail was superb (real jumbo shrimp), I had the strip steak, my wife and one guest had the filet of Sole stuffed with crab imperial (excellent), potatoes were warm not hot, our last guest had the crusted chicken over cheese grits and wilted greens. Meals were satisfying and the desserts put everything over the top. But to be honest, if it wasn't for Mimi, this would have been merely a good dining experience instead of a great one.
First time here. It was very nice. Great service from beginning to end. Excellent food presentation and taste. A little pricy, but the food was again enjoyable.
New Summer price fixe or a la carte dinner menus are very disappointing in that some form of mashed potatoes is now featured on ALMOST every entree. No more baked potatoes even with steak dinners. Other than asparagus, very little choice of vegetables alternatives any more. Portions suddenly dwindled in size from week prior to summer menu offerings. Shrimp cocktail still delicious but wish was also offered regularly for lunch and not just at dinner time. Too much butter and cream sauces featured AND one needs to be careful to alert server that cook should stop adding extra salt to veges, etc when salt is on the table and one can decide for self how much salt to add to taste. Blue cheese salad dressing us usually off taste and not always cold when served. Compared to Sunday Brunch with ample food choices etc, regular dinner time dining is no longer enticing since this new summer menu. Not highly recommended anymore
The food at The Hunt Room is always delicious and service has always been excellent. In addition, you never feel rushed. This was my first time to eat outside. The music was a little louder than necessary but, otherwise, it was delightful. It made lunch with a friend feel like a mini vacation.
Sunday Brunch was a disappointment. There were no plates in the carving room, we had to ask a man for some, there was no one to carve the meat, the man who got the plates, carved the meat. I realize it was Father's Day and they might have been overwhelmed but all in all, it wasn't outstanding only middle of the road.
We went for brunch on Father's Day. We went at 12:00. The food in the buffet line was cold and/or needed to be refilled. We went back two times and the same food was out. NOTHING was replaced. Our waitress greeted us when we first sat down and got our drinks. We ordered two waters, a coke, and a coffee. She returned with the drinks but no coffee cup. I finally had to ask another waitress 20 minutes later for a cup. I would also like to note this is the last time we saw our waitress. She would walk by our table but never once came over to check on us or refill our drinks. And yes even our plates were cleared by another waitress. My husband vowed never to come back as we watched her be pleasant as can be to her bigger sized tables but not even look in our direction.
I had taken my parents here for brunch and had a lovely time. However they fell VERY short for a Father's Day brunch. I was greatly disappointed. The food and waitress put a sour taste in my mouth and we will not be returning for brunch.
great experience. many choices for brunch. will come back again.
Jackie, with her huge smile, quick & professional service, and amazing memory for guests' preferences, just makes each meal a pleasure.
As always, a great place for dining and socializing.
My wife and I really enjoy dining in the Hunt Room. There is nothing to dislike, the greeting, the room, the service, the food, the all around ambiance. The prixe fix menu is our favorite. It reminds us of dining in Cape May for their restaurant week, where everything is superb, well planned, and orchestrated. The Hunt Room more conducive to relaxing and enjoying creative cooking, well prepared food, and drink, the combination which is missing in about 90% of today's restaurants.
We had great service at the Hunt Room, waitress and kitchen were very flexible with off-the-menu requests. Food was average on this visit. I've had better at the Hunt Room in the past. It's a nice spot for the family.
My daughter and I took my mother there for her 90th birthday celebration, and everything was wonderful! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was friendly, and our server, Mimi, was phenomenal!!!!
Enjoyed our lunch and the service was great. Hadn't been to The Hunt Room in a long time forgot how good the food is.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The food was great and the service was good also.
It was a wonderful dinner, amazing service, great food and the room was absolutely beautiful, warm and welcoming. We will be back.
the service is perfect, staff very friendly, the selections are perfect.
our server Collin always goes out of his way.
good to see tomato based pasta selections.
worth every penny.
I hadn't been to the Desmond for brunch in quite a while. The food was good and so was the service. There were quite a few kids there that disrupted the ability for a nice relaxing brunch.
First time here for brunch and had a delightful time. The food was delicious !
Wonderful as usual.
The Hunt Room is charming country semi-formal. Next to it is a upscale bar - both serving the same food. Cranberry muffins are very nice. Excellent bread pudding. Good mushroom soup.
Our food was wonderful and our server was amazing!!
We wanted a quiet quality meal and were not disappointed. The service was low key, attentive and excellent. The food was similarly excellent, with everything fresh, cooked as ordered, and excellent tasting. In addition, the restaurant accommodated my dietary needs without hesitation. We had not been to the Desmond in many years, but we will return far more often.
Our experience was good overall. Food was OK. We went with the prix fixe menu. We enjoyed our appetizers. For the entree, my steak was only fair for the price. My wife's petite tenderloin was good. Crabcake was a bit burnt. Mashed potatoes were good...asparagus was excellent..cooked just right. Desserts saved the day. My wife had a very dense dark chocolate torte. I had the cheesecake....it was billed as Carnegie Deli cheesecake and for the first time in a while they came through. Rich, dense NY cheesecake. Excellent.
Mimi was a very attentive server who made us feel quite at home.
We did note that it was our anniversary in the reservation, but no one noticed or commented on it.
Would probably not go for the prix fixe if we return.
This meet our needs for a small group of six for an early business dinner. Service good and the restaurant was quiet for us to converse. Food average-steak not cooked as asked for two individuals but corrected when asked by one. No one in the restaurant on a Thursday night but at least one other restaurant in the hotel. A bit pricey overall since it seeemd a moment past its prime.
the service and quality of food is excellent, prices are good, it was good to see a tomato based pasta dish this time. too many times there is either a meat pasta or a cheese sauce pasta, and if one is a vegan or not into cheese dishes, this selection was right on.
more meatless items would be good.
