We loved it here though for all the wrong reasons I'm afraid...It was like an episode of Fawlty Towers! Very expensive and at this price bracket in Boston you can get dozens of top quality restaurants. Ambience is wonderful as so many reviewers have said (it's like something Liberachi would eat in in the 1960s) but food is pretty poor for the price. I really want to like this place too because its got that old world charm missing in so many modern dining establishments

My husband took me to The Hungry I for my birthday. We've been to the restaurant before and couldn't wait to go back and enjoy another fabulous meal. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and were seated at a table near the fireplace. It was a brisk night and the fire in the fireplace added a wonderful touch to the already beautiful ambiance. We are always impressed by the number of items on the menu and the creative "specials" that are offered. The wine list is equally impressive, but they also have a full service bar if you prefer that type of drink. Our starters were soup (mine) and pate wrapped in a light crepe (my husband's). Both delicious. We both ordered a terrific spinach salad which had a hot bacon dressing that went perfectly with the fresh spinach leaves. For our entree we both had roasted duck, which was half of a duck , perfectly cooked and served with a black cherry sauce. The duck skin was crisp and the duck meat was tender and juicy. The side of vegetables were a perfect compliment. We've had duck at The Hungry I before, done in different styles, and we've never been disappointed. We finished our meal with a strawberry desert that had a light and flaky crust and delicious filling. It also came with a generous topping of whipped cream. It was a perfect meal for any occasion but it made my birthday a great day. I look forward to going back again very, very soon.
